July, 2017 Volume 9, Issue 7 Time for the Annual Half of Trail Match Workday Report, SASS Scoring Changes, Hell Fire 2017 Approaches HALF-OF-TRAIL: Slick sent this announcement in about the Half-of-Trail match so I figured I'd just put the whole thing in: "It's that time of year again. Yep, time for "Half of Trail" at the Jackson hole regulators. We will be shooting six stages from the world championships on August 12th starting at 9 AM. The theme for this match is "awards from matches past". We will have a table set up with lots of different awards from the past LA State and Hell Fire matches that we have had. The champion of each category will be awarded and can pick any one of the "awards from matches past" that they would like to have. So now is your chance to get that Hell Fire buckle that you've always wanted.this is a small fundraiser match for the club to do last minute things before our annual Hell Fire match. The cost will be $25 per shooter." I regret to inform Colorado Jackson that there aren't any of those Yeti mugs left over from HF Sorry, big guy! RANGE WORK DAY: How about a HUGE shout out to all those who came and sweated this month to fix up the range! From Chief Rick: "A lot of hard work yesterday. The range is almost ready for Hell Fire. In no particular order; Slick McClade, Ivory, Lily Bleu, Hammerrock, Chief Rick, Angie Get Your Guns, Dixie Rebel, Calhoun Kid, Smokey Shane, Silver Wolf, Choctaw Rosie, Louisiana Lefty, Antelope Ann, Beaver John, Doc No Mo, Will E Fixit, General Jubal Early and Cody Collee. Thank you all!" They got out there and repainted/repaired/replaced on the Depot, Hotel, Jail, Bridge, Bank, Mercantile, Barn, and Church stages (see pictures). SASS SCORING CHANGE: Looks like we will all be on total time matches now: HELL FIRE 2017: We are running ahead of the pace from last year on entries. YEE HAW! Looks like it's going to be another great time. Your humble correspondent here has been involved in the development of the category awards (lots of work by Slick) and I can report that, as always, the JHR crew is going to really shine when it comes to handing out bling to the top three in each category. 3 THIS MONTH IN WESTERN HISTORY July 26, California- Charles E. Boles, AKA Black Bart, robbed his first stage, on a mountain pass called Funk Hill, four miles outside of Copperopolis, Calif. Bart, in addition to being an expert lone bandit who robbed more than two dozen stages in California in , exercised a sardonic brand of humor in the form of doggerel scratched on foolscap and left in the empty strongboxes he looted. He was frivolous and capricious, a jokester whose laughing nature endeared him even to his victims.
