2 2016 ANDREWS COUNTY MAJOR SHOW HANDBOOK Hello all, We have prepared this show guide to help you with the entry process and give you a quick reference guide. While every effort has been made for it to be accurate, each shows premium catalog/web site is official. Please be mindful that rules and dates may change after this book has been published. If you need further clarification I will be more than happy to answer any questions. You can also find each shows premium book on each shows web site. Please familiarize yourself and family with all the rules, dates and times. The livestock program in the state of Texas is unique in terms of its size and premium money that is paid. By signing the entry blank you are agreeing to follow the rules of that show. Failure to obey the rules can cause the exhibitor to be banned from that show as well as others. In addition, you will be forced to forfeit all premium money. In some cases, in the past, criminal charges have been brought against families who have broken certain rules. For all state exhibitors, you must complete the Quality Counts Verification in order to enter livestock shows. The verification process requires that 4-H and FFA exhibitors have a base knowledge of the principles of quality assurance and good moral character, and take an online Quality Counts Verification test to obtain a Verification Number. Quality Counts curriculum should be used to teach 4-H and FFA members the importance of good character and ethical behavior in caring for and exhibiting animals and prepare exhibitors for the verification test. Texas Trail, the online delivery component of Quality Counts can be found at: Exhibitors that are 13 years of age or younger must take the test designed for junior level exhibitors. Exhibitors 14 years or older must take the senior level test. Exhibitors are only required to pass the appropriate age level test one time. 4-H exhibitors that are moving into the senior age group this year must take the senior level test to meet the requirements of the verification program. In addition, the Livestock Program Ethics Policy that you signed for each species at validation has been included for you reference. Please use this booklet to visit with your teachers about when you will be absent from school. You should work with them ahead of time so that they can have your assignments ready prior to you being absent. We will request for excused absences and check eligibility for all livestock shows, however it is up to you, the exhibitor, to inform them of your absence and take care of business. 3 TEXAS 4-H/FFA LIVESTOCK PROGRAM ETHICS POLICY (Updated April, 2015) County Name: This ethics policy applies to any 4-H/FFA member planning to exhibit animals at livestock shows in Texas. It includes Junior as well as open class exhibitors who compete in structured classes of competition. All classes of livestock offered at the livestock event are included: Cattle (Beef and Dairy), Goats (Angora, Boer, dairy, meat, Cashmere), Equine (Horses), Llamas and other specialty animals, Poultry, Rabbits, Sheep, Swine, and any other livestock classes offered. This Texas 4-H/FFA Livestock Program Ethics Policy will be enhanced with additional rules and guidelines which individual fairs and livestock shows adhere to on the local, county, state, regional, and national levels. The following practices or procedures are unacceptable and are defined as being deceptive, fraudulent, unethical, and inhumane in the care, fitting, preparation and showing of all classes of livestock. The use of any illegal drug is prohibited. Any substance used to phenotypically alter the appearance of an animal entered in livestock events is prohibited. (See Guideline #9). Proof of any animal being subjected to illegal and/or unethical practice(s) and/or procedure(s) described herein subjects the animal to immediate disqualification. The animal is ineligible for exhibition at any livestock show on the local, county, state, regional and national levels. The exhibitor will forfeit any premium, awards, or auction proceeds, and may be prohibited from future competition at livestock shows in Texas, as well as being subject to potential criminal prosecution. The following is a listing of guidelines all 4-H/FFA exhibitors must follow to enter livestock at organized competitive events. 1. Exhibitors must be bonafide members of a 4-H Club or FFA Chapter in the state of Texas and care for their animals under the direct supervision of a County Extension Agent or Agricultural Science Teacher. Exhibitors must be enrolled in, and attending, public or private and/or home school elementary or secondary schools in Texas. Exhibitors must be in grades 3 rd 12 th for the exhibition year H members that plan to show horses at any of the twelve district and/or the Texas State 4-H Horse Show should submit a signed copy of this Ethics Policy with their entry forms. While items 3-9, listed below, do not apply to the horse project, there are specifics on ethics in the publication Texas 4-H Horse Show Rules and Regulations (AS ) that do apply. The Texas State 4-H Horse Show and all of the district horse shows are conducted under the rules and regulations contained in this publication and 4-H ers are expected to comply with those rules regarding ownership, management and treatment of horses. Horse validation deadline is May All exhibitors must have viable proof (Junior division) of ownership available to prove length of time animals have been owned. Market animals (Beef, Sheep, Swine, Goats) must be owned and under exhibitor s daily care by the following deadline dates: June 30 All major Steers and State Fair Lambs, Goats, Swine; October 31 Lambs and Goats; November 30 Swine; to be eligible to participate at any major livestock show within Texas. This also includes all small market animals (Rabbits and Poultry). The official ownership date is the date shown on the bill of sale or receipt of sale, unless the animal was bred by the exhibitor, in which calving or birth records will be utilized. (Individual show rules may determine ownership requirements for non-market animals.) Registered breeding livestock must show the exhibitor as the sole owner of the animal on the breed association papers or certificates. Breeding animal validation deadlines dates: June 30 Spring Heifer Validation; October 31 Breeding Sheep and November 1 Fall Heifer Validation. 4. Exhibitors must continuously own and personally feed and care for their animal(s) throughout the entire feeding period. The feeding period begins with the species validation date through exhibition at all shows (exhibitors must provide continuous care for breeding heifers and sheep throughout the animal s eligibility to show). Prior approval must be granted by the Species Specific County Level State Validation Committee in the event the animal will be outside the direct care of the exhibitor for more than 48 HOURS. Exceptions may be made with approval from the Species Specific County Level State Validation Committee. By signing this document, the exhibitor and parent/guardian, recognize his/her responsibilities for the feeding and care of livestock projects throughout the feeding period and hereby authorizes the State Validation Coordinator, supervising Agricultural Science Teacher /County Extension Agent and the Species Specific County Level State Validation Committee the right to inspect your livestock project(s) at any time during the feeding period with or without prior notice. Any exhibitor in violation of the feeding/care rule is subject to disqualification. 5. Animals validated for major shows may also be exhibited at other shows. Be advised, however, that if any validated animal is exhibited and SOLD at any other show, the animal will be ineligible to show at any subsequent major show. If ownership changes, regardless of method or length of time, that chain of animal ownership is considered broken. 4 October 31 Breeding Sheep November 1 Breeding Heifers November 30 for Swine Market lambs and meat goats that sell at the State Fair of Texas are not eligible for further competition or validation in October. 6. Any method used to misrepresent the age of an animal for a class in which it is shown is deceptive and considered a violation of the rules and guidelines. 7. Showing an animal for another individual by claiming ownership in order to show in a specific livestock class or event is prohibited. False ownership is a violation of the rules and guidelines. 8. Treating an animal internally or externally, with any irritant, counter- irritant, or other substance used to artificially change the conformation or appearance of an animal for show is considered unethical, inhumane, and is prohibited. This includes, but is not limited to the use of graphite, air, powders, hemp, artificial hair coloring, common products such as fly spray, ointment or liniment used to the point that is irritating, (unless required to reduce edema at time of calving) or similar type products. The use of dyes, spray paint or other artificial coloring which result in altering an animal s true and natural appearance and/or color is prohibited. Adding false hair or hair- like material, fleece, or skin at any point, spot or area of the animal s body is illegal and may result in immediate disqualification. 9. Surgery, injection or insertion of foreign material under the skin and/or into the flesh of an animal to change the natural contour, conformation or appearance of an animal s body is illegal. This includes vegetable oil, air, silicon or any other substance used to alter the shape of the animal. Acceptable practices of physical preparation which are allowed include, clipping of hair, trimming of hooves, dehorning, removal of ancillary teats, and docking of tails. 10. The use of inhumane fitting, showing and/or handling practices or devices shall not be tolerated. 11. The Administration of the Texas 4-H and/or FFA Programs reserve the final and absolute right to interpret these guidelines and to arbitrarily settle and determine all matters, questions, and differences in regard thereto, or otherwise arising out of or connected with or incident to Texas 4-H/FFA Livestock Program Ethics Policy. Any violation of the Texas 4 H/FFA Livestock Program Ethics Policy or specific rules as designated by individual fairs and livestock shows may result in forfeiture of premiums and awards, disqualification, and may result in probationary status and/or loss of eligibility for future participation in organized livestock competition. Possible civil penalties may be imposed by the proper authorities based on evidence provided by the livestock show of exhibitors in violation of the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act/or the animal mistreatment, neglect, and abandonment laws that apply on the local, state, and/or national levels. All rule violations will be dealt with on an individual basis by the Specie Specific County State Validation Committee, the State Validation Coordinators, and/or appropriate livestock show officials. I, the parent/guardian and exhibitor, am verifying that I have read the Texas 4-H/FFA Livestock Program Ethics Policy and understand the consequences of and penalties involved for illegal, unethical, inhumane, and unfair practices in livestock competition. I am also verifying knowledge that my family and I may be prohibited from future participation in organized validation programs in the State of Texas, and could face possible criminal prosecution and/or civil penalties if implicated in any of the aforementioned acts. There will be a $30.00 entry fee for each Club Steer and $30.00 entry fee for each junior Breeding Heifer. 2. No straw or hay bedding allowed. All cattle will be bedded on washed sand. 3. Sheep and goats will be bedded on wood shavings. 4. Entry fee for the Lamb is $20.00 and Goats will be $ To be eligible to exhibit in the Steer, Lamb and Goat divisions all Texas animals must be validated in accordance with the Texas validation program. Texas animals arriving at the show without the official Texas Steer, Lamb or Goat tag will not be eligible to show.

7 Junior Finewool Lamb Show Judge Robert Scott Classifier 3 Man Classifying System Rules: 1. Each Exhibitor is limited to four lambs in this show. Wether lambs only may be shown. Entries having shed lamb teeth or with permanent teeth in view are not eligible to show. Lambs must have been owned and fed by the exhibitor since November 1, No lambs other than fine-wool breeds will be permitted to show (Rambouillet, Delaine, Debouillet, purebred or high grade with typical body markings for the breed). No black lambs. Lambs will be classified in the show ring. 3. Cut off time for packer lambs is Saturday, January 8, 2016, 12:00 noon. 4. Lambs must be in the barn by 5:00 p.m. on January 7, Releases will be written on lambs on Saturday, January 8, 2016, after posting of the sale order in the office. Release tables will be in show barn. 5. A $20.00 entry fee will be charged for each entry and no refunds will be made after the closing date for receiving entries. Wood shavings will be furnished. 6. Exhibitors will weigh their own lambs. Lamb weights should be turned in as soon as possible and must be turned in by 5:00 p.m. January 8, There will be a 100 lb minimum. There will be a three (3) pound weigh back on the top and bottom of the class. Any lamb weighing three pounds on the top and bottom of what the lamb weighed will be disqualified. Scales will be furnished. 8. All lambs will be weighed and divided into (5) five equal classes. 9. Lambs must be shorn slick with a uniform length of fleece. Boots may be left on lambs. 10. Five lambs from each class (total 25) will be sold in the auction sale. All lambs will be sold on their class weights. 11. SUBSTITUTE EXHIBITORS WILL BE ALLOWED THROUGH THE SALE WITH EARLY NOTIFICATION TO THE LAMB CHAIRMAN. ANY EXHIBITOR THAT IS NOT PRESENT FOR THE SALE OR DOES NOT HAVE AN ELIGIBLE EXHIBITOR DESIGNATED TO TAKE THE LAMB THROUGH THE SALE WILL RECEIVE PACKER VALUE ONLY FOR THAT LAMB. Dub Day Memorial Senior Showmanship Award Justin Powell Memorial Junior Showmanship 1. A committee will pick exhibitors during lamb judging. 2. Exhibitors selected will return with lamb to ring for placing by official Judge. 3. Awards: Junior and Senior Champion Showmanship Trophy Buckle.

8 Junior Market Goat Show Judge Josh Cody Rules: 1. Each exhibitor is limited to five goats of any breed or crossbreeds in this show. Wether goats only may be shown. Entries must have front two milk teeth in normal position with no permanent teeth showing at the time of weigh-in to be eligible to show. Goats must have been owned and cared for continuously since November 1, All general rules apply to the goat show. 3. Goats may be penned beginning at 12:00 noon on Thursday January 7, 2016 and all goats must be in place by 4:30 p.m. Thursday January 7, Note: Goats arriving prior to 12:00 noon will not have access to a pen until 12:00 noon. Releases will be written after the show is completed. 4. Entry fee will be $20.00 for each entry and no refunds will be made after the closing date for receiving entries. Initial bedding with wood shavings will be furnished, any additional bedding wanted by exhibitors will have to be purchased or supplied by exhibitors. 5. The Goat committee will be available to weigh goats beginning at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday January 7, Note: individuals may bring their goat to the scales after 2:00 p.m., all goats from a chapter or county do not have to come together. All goats not weighed must be in line at the scales by 4:45 p.m. Scales will close after the last goat in line at 4:45 p.m. has been weighed on Thursday January 7, No goat will be re-weighed after leaving the scales any re-weigh must be requested immediately after goat has been weighed and prior to next goat in line being weighed. 6. Goats will be checked for teeth, hair length & sharp horns at the time of weigh in. 7. Number of classes will be determined by dividing the number of entries that are weighed-in by 85. Classes will be divided by weight. There will be a 50 pound minimum and no maximum weight. 8. No paint, powder, or artificial coloring is allowed. Goats must be uniformly shorn to 3/8" or less above the knee and hock joints, goats may have longer hair on the end of the tail. Shearing of goats will be allowed on the grounds, and the hair length will be checked at weigh-in. Horns must be tipped before arrival on show grounds. No sharp points allowed. 9. Goat show will be at 8:00 a.m. on Friday January 8, 2016, with release after the completion of the show. Champion and Reserve Champion goat may not be released until after the rodeo on Friday January 2, and may be required to be available for a parade of Champions during the rodeo. 10. This is a Premium Show Only. NO goats will be sold in the auction sale. Premium money will be determined by number of entries. Minimum premiums for the following placings have been determined with other premiums to be determined after entries received. Champion - $1000 Reserve Champion - $500 First Place - $ Showmanship is not sanctioned by J.M.G.S.C. A committee will select exhibitors during judging to return with their goat for showmanship placing by official judge. 12. Substitute exhibitors may be used for the following reasons: More than one goat showing in the same class Exhibitor is not present and is participating in another U.I.L. sponsored function Exhibitor is medically unable to show, at the discretion of the Livestock Show Vice- President doctor s written verification may be required Other reasons as approved prior to showing, by goat show Chairman and Livestock Show Vice- President 13. Note: Substitute exhibitors must have entered an animal in the 2016 Sandhills Livestock Show.

9 Junior Market Steer Show Judge Dan Hoge Rules: 1. There will be no limit on the number of 4-H or FFA Steers from a County or FFA Chapter. 2. All entries must be exhibited by the owners, except when an exhibitor has more than one entry in one class or cannot be present to show the animal due to a medical condition. In these cases, any other 4-H Club or Vocational agricultural student taking part in this show may exhibit these animals. Entries must include Name of exhibitor. 3. An Auction Sale will be provided for approximately 25 Junior Steers entered in the show and competing for premiums. There will be no charge for this Auction Sale. The Grand Champion steer must sell and it is optional with owners of other placing steers as to whether they sell. (Two steers limited to any exhibitor). All sale animals will be sold on their official weigh-in weights. 4. Each exhibitor is entitled to enter no more than (2) two steers. The calves must exhibit purebred horned or polled Hereford characteristics. 5. All cattle will be bedded on washed sand, no straw, hay or shavings will be allowed in the barns. Tie-outs will be available at time of entry for $10 each. 6. Exhibitors will be pre-stalled upon arrival and must have their steers on display during the Show at the assigned stalls. Failure to comply with this condition will disqualify the Exhibitor. 7. Arrival Time: No arrivals before noon Wednesday, January 6, Must be in barn by 9:00 a.m., Friday, January 8, Animals will be released after sale order is posted. 8. Weights will be turned in at sift and classifying of Junior Steers beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 8, No steer may weigh less than 850 pounds and there is no maximum weight. Three person classifying system will be utilized. No protests allowed. Horned Hereford steers will classify first followed by polled Hereford steers. 9. Steers will be divided into classes at the discretion of the superintendent in both horned Hereford and polled Hereford breeds. 10. After judging of each class is completed, all placing steers will be reweighed before leaving the ring with a 5% weigh-back. Steers remaining qualified after weigh-back will advance in placing if steers placed higher have been disqualified. 11. Exhibitors will indicate desire to sell at auction, if eligible, immediately after each class is judged. Steers to be sold out of each class will be designated by the committee. These steers will be branded before leaving the show ring. All first and second place steers will be weighed and nose printed immediately following judging of their respective class. Steers showing for Champion and Reserve Champion will indicate desire to sell after the champions are selected. Grand Champion Steer MUST SELL. 12. All first and second place steers will be drug tested. Random steer(s) may be selected. 13. Exhibitors may not move to tie-outs between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on any given day of the show. You may not tie out in West covered arena. 14. One fan will be permitted for each five steers. 15. Packer bid price will be posted immediately after judging is completed. Any steers not eligible for the Auction will be eligible to sell to the Packer. Packer steers will be received at 6:00 PM Saturday, January 9, Showmanship: Any exhibitor wishing to compete in showmanship may enter the competition. Showmanship will take place after selection of Grand and Reserve Champion Steer. Exhibitors who participate will return with steer to ring for placing by Official Judge.

GENERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS 1. Entry, Stall, Pen and Grooming Chute Space Fees. In divisions where entries exceed available space it may be necessary to provide less than one (1) standard stall, pen or tieout space per animal. Fees will not be refunded under these circumstances. 2. Ground Passes. Complimentary exhibitor ground passes will be issued to each exhibitor on the schedule listed below. Additional exhibitor ground passes may be purchased for $30. Cattle, Horses, Sheep, Goats, Swine, Llamas, Sheep Dogs, Jr. Ag. Mech. Number of Entries (per owner) Passes Issued or more 4 3. Parking Permits. NO FREE PARKING PERMITS WILL BE ISSUED. Each exhibitor may purchase parking permits for $40 each, limit 2 per exhibitor. Parking Permits must be securely attached to the windshield of vehicle. Anyone abusing or transferring these permits will forfeit same. 4. Cooking. Cooking is not allowed on the show grounds at any time other than by food concessionaires. No cookers, crock-pots, microwaves, coffee pots, warmers or other cooking utensils will be permitted 5. Registration and Certificate of Veterinary Inspection. EXHIBITORS MUST HAVE THEIR ORIGINAL REGISTRATION PAPERS AND CERTIFICATES OF VETERINARY INSPECTION AVAILABLE WITH THEIR EXHIBITS AT ALL TIMES DURING THE SHOW. Photocopies or facsimiles will not be accepted, unless specified by the association. 6. Tie Outs. Tie Outs must be reserved and paid for at the time of entry. Tie Outs will be numbered and assigned (see note on Rule 4, Page 69). TIE OUT TIME IS 7:30 P.M. All cattle must be in their assigned stalls between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. SPECIAL RULES 1. Cattle Grooming Chutes and Scales. Each 4-H Club or FFA Chapter will be allowed to purchase grooming chute/scale permits by submitting a $35 fee for each permit along with entries. Any apparatus used for a grooming chute and/or scale must be used in the stall and completely off concrete aisles. Grooming chute/scale stickers will be issued and must be placed on the upper, right hand corner at the back of the chute. 2. Exhibitions. All entries in the Junior Livestock Show must be exhibited by the owner/exhibitor, except when the exhibitor has more than one (1) entry in a class or cannot be present to show their own animal

13 due to circumstances beyond their control. In these cases, a substitute showman may exhibit the animal provided that the substitute showman meets all Junior exhibitor criteria and is approved by the Superintendent of that department. A substitute showman may not exhibit animals for an owner/exhibitor participating in other events or activities (UIL competitions, school sports, etc.) or just being absent from the competition. If the exhibitor is scholastically ineligible to participate, as determined by the respective school district, the exhibitor and their entries are ineligible for competition. Parents, Agricultural Science Teachers, and County Agents will not be allowed in the judging arena. An animal will be disqualified from the show if it is being trimmed, fitted, or dressed by anyone other than exhibitors, County Extension Agents or Agricultural Science Teachers from the State of Texas, or other feeders or leaders within the county or school district from which the animal is entered. 3. Artificial Coloring. Any Junior steer or heifer entry which, when rubbed with a white cloth or glove shows residual evidence of artificial coloring, will be disqualified, with the exception of dressing on hoofs. 4. IMPORTANT ARRIVAL INFORMATION FOR JUNIOR BARROWS & STEERS 3:00 pm Monday, February 1 to 7:00 am Tuesday, February 2: All arriving exhibitors, animals, tack haulers, etc. will check in at Farrington Field and be directed to either Barrow or Steer arrival locations. Trinity Park will not be available for early arrivals. 5. Auction Sales for Junior Show Animals. Junior Sale of Champions, Saturday, February 6 at 9:00 a.m. in the West Arena. All Junior Steer, Wether Lamb and Barrow Grand Champions, Reserve Grand Champions, Breed Champions and Reserve Breed Champions, as well as Grand Champion, Reserve Grand Champion and Division and Reserve Division Champion Wether Goats of the show must be sold through the Junior Sale of Champions. Animals designated by the Management to be sold in the auction must remain under the exhibitor s care and expense until the animal is sold. The animals must be lead into the sale ring by their owners or by another junior exhibitor approved by the Show Management. All animals which go through the sale will be sold to the highest bidder. Animals must be presented at the sale in their natural state. Decoration of a sale animal is prohibited. STEERS: All prize winning steers will be eligible for the Junior Sale of Champions, PROVIDED DESIGNATION IS MADE AS ANIMAL LEAVES THE JUDGING RING. To be eligible, barrows must be validated with the Texas Swine Validation Program administered by the Texas AgriLife Extension Service and the Texas Education Agency, division of Agricultural Science and Technology. The first and second place barrow in each class will be inspected to verify that the barrow s ear notches match those recorded at the time of validation. Breed Champion and Reserve Breed Champion as well as any other barrows designated by the show management will have samples collected for DNA analysis. In the event the DNA analysis reveals there is not a positive match, the animal will be disqualified. 2. Each exhibitor is entitled to enter only one (1) barrow in the Barrow Show and must have owned the barrow prior to December 1, The barrow must have been fed and cared for by the exhibitor from date of purchase. 3. Upon Arrival. A representative from each County 4 H group or FFA Chapter must obtain from the Superintendent s office a packet containing their group s ear tags and weight/breed cards for their entries in this division. 4. Ear Tag Numbers. All barrows must have ear tags that match barrow s entry number at the time they are presented in the show ring. Ear tags will be provided by Stock Show. 5. Weighing. Exhibitors will be responsible for weighing their own barrows and must return Weight/Breed cards to Superintendents by 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 3 with the declared weight and breed designation. Texas Swine Validation number must also be included on Weight/Breed cards. Any entry whose Weight/Breed card is not received by this deadline will be disqualified. To be eligible to show, all barrows must weigh not less than 230 lbs. or more than 270 lbs. Weight given on Weight/Breed card will be both the show weight and the sale weight. After Weight/Breed cards are turned in, entries will be divided into weight divisions as equal in number as possible. Placing barrows and any barrow designated by the superintendents will be weighed back. Any barrow that weighs more than 10 lbs. above or below its weigh-in live weight will be disqualified. 6. Classifying. Barrows will be classified at the time of judging by a three person committee. If the animal is classed out, it will be sifted. Scales will be provided by Southwestern Exposition and Livestock Show. 5. Classifying. Exhibitors must indicate on weight card the breed of each entry. All lambs will be classified at the time of judging by a three-man classifying committee. If the animal is classified out, it will be sifted. 6. Class Weights. After weight cards have been returned to the Superintendent s office, entries will be divided into weight divisions, as equal in number as possible, light, medium, and heavy, for each breed. All placing lambs in each class and any lambs designated by the Superintendents will be weighed back. Any lambs not meeting minimum weight requirements, or lambs with weights more than 5 lbs. above or below the weight turned in to the Superintendent on the weight card will be disqualified. One (1) or more of the top five (5) placing groups of ten (10) will be re-weighed in their entirety, and any lamb not meeting the weight criteria stated above, will disqualify the entire group. 7. Shearing. All lambs must be shorn to the skin with mechanical shears one (1) week or less prior to arrival at the Show, leaving a uniform length of wool over the entire body. Boots may be left on all lambs. No electrical clippers or blocking tables will be allowed in the lamb barn. Hand shears may be used. 8. All Champions and Reserve Champions must sell. 9. Number of Animals. Each exhibitor is entitled to enter a maximum of eight (8) wether lambs in the Junior Lamb Show, but no more than two (2) will be allowed in each weight class. 10. Artificial Coloring. No paint, powder, or artificial coloring may be used on lambs. 11. Sale Animals. The Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion lambs as well as all breed champion lambs and reserve breed champions will be sold in the Junior Sale of Champions. Texas Steer Validation number, breed and declared weight must be included on Weight/Breed cards. Weight given on Weight/Breed card will be the official weight and used as both the show weight and the sale weight. Exhibitors entering European Crossbreds and Other Breed classes must submit Weight/Breed cards to the Superintendent s office by 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 3. Any entry in these classes whose Weight/Breed card is not received by this deadline will be disqualified. Exhibitors entering Angus, Hereford, Polled Hereford, Shorthorn and American Breeds and Crossbred classes will submit Weight/Breed cards at the time of classifying. 6. Classifying. Will begin at 8:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 3 in the Watt Arena. Exhibitors of Angus, Hereford, Polled Hereford, Shorthorn and American Breeds and Crossbreds will be called to present their steers by breed to the show ring. Exhibitors will declare the breed of the steer by presenting the animal at the designated time for that breed. Any steer classified out of that breed division will not be allowed to declare an alternate breed and will be sifted out of the show. The decision of the classifiers will be final and protests will not be considered by Management. 7. All steers must have a minimum weight of 900 pounds. 8. After Weight/Breed cards are turned in, entries will be divided into weight divisions, as equal in number as possible, as specified under each breed. After the judge s placing of each class, the first and second prize winning steers, along with any other steer designated at the discretion of the Show management will be reweighed. Any steer weighing more than 105 percent of its official weight will be disqualified. In case of disqualification, the lower prize winning steers will remain as placed by the judge and will not be graduated up to higher positions. 9. Fans will not be allowed in the Junior Steer Show. 10. First prize/division Champion steers of each classification will compete for Champion Steer of the Breed. Second prize/reserve Division Champion steers are required to be brought into the arena. After the Champion Steer of the Breed is selected, the second prize/reserve Division Champion steer from the class/division which furnished the Champion will compete with the First Prize/Division Champion steers in the other classes/divisions of this breed for Reserve Champion Steer.

Minimum show weight will be 50 lbs. Animals below this minimum weight will be sifted. 5. Number of Animals. Each exhibitor is entitled to enter only one (1) wether goat. 6. Ownership. The exhibitors must have owned their goats prior to November 1, 2015 and shall have fed and cared for their goats exclusively during the period from ownership date to the date of the show. 7. Showmanship Entries. Entries in the Showmanship class are not required. However, animals exhibited in the Showmanship class must also be entered in the Junior Wether Goat Show. 8. Winter clip is acceptable for any goats shown. No electric clippers or blocking tables will be allowed. Hand shears may be used. 9. Sale Animals.
