1 OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY EXTENSION 4-H Important Information & Update September 29, 2017 National 4-H Week October 1 7, 2017 Take a moment to share your 4-H experiences with someone. 4-H offers countless benefits to all kids. Invite someone out to our upcoming 5k fundraiser at the fairgrounds. You can give them a personal tour of the fairgrounds and tell them all about your awesome fair experiences. 3rd Annual 4-H Harvest Fun 5K Run/Walk Pancake Breakfast and Craft Show Saturday October 14, the Butler County Fairgrounds Advisors please encourage your members to come out and volunteer for this fundraiser. 2 MARK YOUR CALENDAR! ALL 4-H Advisor Mandatory Update Meeting Dates Monday December 4, 6:3O PM Thursday December 7, 6:30 PM Location Butler County Extension Office Note It is mandatory that all current advisors must attend one of the meeting dates. 4-H parents interested in serving as 4-H advisors in 2018 can attend one of the meeting dates and this will count as your orientation training. Ohio 4-H Club Yearly Financial Summary Deadline December 7, 2017 It s time for clubs to start preparing their 2017 financial summary. You can turn in your financial summary when you attend the all advisor meeting in December. All financial summaries are due at the Extension office by December 7, H Club Notebooks Each club has one notebook. This notebook contains all the information from the annual all advisory meetings. Your 4-H club notebook is due to the Extension Office on or before October 2, Volunteer Background Checks Volunteers selected to complete the volunteer background check for 2018 will receive letters with instructions next week. Deadline to complete your background check is December 1, 2017.

3 4-H CARTEENS Currently Seeking Teen Volunteers The 4-H CARTEENS mission is to decrease the number of repeat juvenile traffic offenders by educating them on safe driving habits in a fun and positive atmosphere. Youth Age Requirement: years of age Duties of teen volunteers: Assist with: (1) set-up of the classroom, (2) serve as greeters, (3) assist with the check-in process, (4) serve as program presenters, and (5) promote 4-H CARTEENS. Training: Takes place prior to each program Program location: Butler County Extension Office Program Time Frame 5:00 PM Adult/Teen Volunteers arrive 5:45 PM Check in starts for court mandated teens/parents 6:15 PM Program starts 7:15 PM Program ends (approximately) 8:00 PM Adult/Teen Volunteers (Dismissed for home) Teen Volunteer Service Hours Teens earn three hours of volunteer service for each program plus additional hours for assisting with promotional events throughout the county. Scholarship Requirements: o Complete 30 hours of volunteer service o Complete applications and interview process in early spring o Winners recognized at the 4-H Honors Program Program Dates (Note all programs are on Wednesday) October 4 th and 25 th November 1 st and 15 th December 6 th and 13 th Start Marking Your 2018 Calendar Quality Assurance Test Out Extension Office Monday, January 22, 2018 Test 6:30 pm Monday, January 29, 2018 SNOW MAKE UP DATE/Test 6:30 pm
