2 Welcome to the 34th Annual Prestigious N.I.L.E. Red Angus sale! Just stop and absorb that for a moment. For 34 consecutive years this sale has been one of the most elite events in the country. We are very confident that this years sale offering will be one of the best yet. I am very confident that the beef business, more specifically the Red Angus business is alive and well and soon to get even better. It is a proven fact that Red Angus females are the most sought after females in the industry as was demonstrated by Superior Livestocks study where Red Angus influenced females averaged $4 to $7 a hundred weight more than any other female offered. With the national cow herd still at near record lows, it only makes sense that the most valuable females will also be the most sought after for many years to come. This is an opportune time to bring Red Angus genetics into your herd. As Kaye and I toured the country selecting cattle for this event it became very obvious that the breeders had once again stepped up their respective games. I believe this years offering will be second to none in the country, past or present. The breeders willingness to allow us to come into their herds and select from the very top of their programs speaks volumes to their commitment to this sale and this breed. I feel very confident you will find cattle in this event that will fit your needs as you look to source new genetics for your herd. We have intentionally selected cattle that will cover a wide variety of circumstances and breeding programs. While there are certainly differences in the pedigree, I think you will find each animal has one thing in common with all of the others; they will all be sound made and structurally correct. I truly believe you will appreciate each animal as an individual as well as the group as a whole. It is about as western as it gets in their backyard and you could literally film a movie there based in the 1800 s. This heifer is a direct result of their AI program and stacks the Nice and Easy bull from the RA Brown Ranch with the Red Get Along Wander bull from Canada. With 7 EPD traits listed in the top 20% of the breed, I would say that the combination worked! Thanks Arley and Francis for letting me pick this years donation female out of the top of your herd! 29 This year one of our members has faced some serious medical challenges. Holly and Mariah are the twin daughters of Mark & Jodie Jansma. Mariah had hip dysplasia surgery at the Shriner s Children s Hospital in Spokane, Washington, in March. Ten days after Mariah s surgery, Holly suffered a stroke and was air evacuated to Seattle Children s Hospital. It was discovered the cause of Holly s stroke was Moyamoya Syndrome. The Jansma s have made multiple trips to Seattle for follow up visits. Holly had brain surgery in August and is on the road to recovery. Mariah will undergo another hip surgery later this fall. Both girls, receive extensive physical, occupational, and speech therapies four days a week. This schedule, along with the day-to-day challenges of caring for the girls has been challenging for the Jansmas. Mark & Jodie have been huge supporters of the Montana Red Angus Association as well as the NILE. Mark is currently serving on the MTRAA Board and is a NILE Barn Superintendent. Jodie has always jumped in and helped with whatever was needed or asked of her with a smile on her face. The members of the MTRAA would like to show their appreciation for all they have done for the organization, and support the Jansma s in their time of need.
