1 1 June 9, 2018 Participant Instructions Congratulations on your participation in the TrackTown Youth League Championship! The Championship will feature over 500 of the top youth athletes from around the state. Please read all of these instructions carefully, as the structure of the Championship Meet is very different than a TTYL All-Comer s Meet, due to the number of participants and the security at Hayward Field. If you have more questions about what to expect, please read the Competition FAQ document. If you do not find the answer to your question there, contact info@tracktownyouthleague.com. Parking/Shuttle We recommend parking in the Autzen Stadium Park & Ride (MLK Blvd. at Leo Harris Parkway) and taking the Spectator Shuttle to Hayward Field. There is no cost to park and no cost for the shuttle. You will be dropped off at East 17th Ave. and Agate Street, just a few blocks from our check-in location. View details here and view the map for walking directions from shuttle drop-off to athlete check-in. 12:30-5:00 p.m. - Athlete check-in and report time All athletes are required to check in and pick up their bib between 12:30 and 5:00 pm. Check-in is located in Living Learning Center South Performance Hall, on East 15th Ave. - between Agate and Onyx streets. Look for the TrackTown Youth League Signs. View the map below for walking directions from the shuttle drop-off location to check-in. Please allow time for parking and transportation. Once you have completed the check in process, those who have NCAA meet tickets can proceed to Hayward Field to watch the NCAA meet. Those who do not have NCAA meet tickets are free to leave, but must return to Living Learning Center by 5:30 pm to be escorted into Hayward Field by TrackTown Youth League staff. We will escort athletes, family, and friends into Hayward Field, where you will be able to watch the NCAA awards ceremony from 6:00 to 7:00pm. The TrackTown Youth League Championship events will begin as soon as possible after the conclusion of the NCAA awards ceremony. If You Are Attending the NCAA Meet All spectators, including youth athletes, who plan to watch the NCAA meet prior to the TrackTown Youth League Championship must have signed up for tickets when they completed their Championship registration. These tickets (two per athlete, one for athlete and one for chaperone) will be available for pick-up at athlete check-in. Please note, these are general admission tickets. General admission includes both seating areas and standing room areas, and seating is available on a first come first serve basis. If you are attending the NCAA Meet, you do not need to return to Living Learning Center for the group escort at 5:30pm since you will have already completed athlete check in and received your bib number.

2 2 Once the NCAA awards ceremony is complete, at approximately 7:00pm, all athletes and spectators need to relocate from general admission seating to the West Grandstand to prepare for the TrackTown Youth League events to begin. Be sure that you are purchasing the day 4 (Saturday) ticket and that it is a General Admission (GA) ticket so that you will be able to choose seating with your two complimentary tickets. View the NCAA meet schedule here. Athlete Warm-Up/ Track and Field Access Other than watching the NCAA awards, no one will be permitted on the track or infield prior to their event competition time. Do not attempt to get on the track to warm up, or for any other reason prior to your competition time. You may be disqualified if you attempt to warm up on the Hayward track or infield. Warm-up is allowed on the warm up field behind the West Grandstand. See map for warm up field location. You are responsible for keeping track of your events and reporting to events on time. Reporting to Events For running events, athletes will check in at the clerking tent when they hear the call for their event. From there they will be escorted by event staff to the starting line. At the conclusion of their race, top finishers will be held at the awards podium for their awards presentation, while all other athletes will be escorted back to West Grandstands to meet their families. For field events, athletes may carefully enter the infield once the call for their event is made. Event staff will be available to escort athletes from the clerking tent entry area to their proper field event destination if guidance is needed. See map for clerking tent location. Parents/coaches/spectators will not be allowed on the field or track at any time. If your child needs an escort to their event, please send them to the event staff at the clerking tent entrance. TrackTown Youth League Championship Spectator Attendance Spectators will be able to attend the TrackTown Youth League Championship meet at no cost. Seating will be available in the West Grandstand. Beginning at 6:00 p.m. spectators will be allowed to enter Hayward Field through the Bowerman Building entrance and proceed to the West Grandstand at the completion of the NCAA awards ceremony. 3 3 Competition FAQ June 9, 2018 Can I add or scratch events? Athletes may only participate in the events they qualified for and pre-registered for. There will be no event additions at the meet. If you would like to scratch an event, you should notify the check-in staff during the athlete check-in period prior to the meet start. If you need to scratch an event once the meet has started, please notify the clerking tent once the call for your event has been made. How do I know when it is time for my event? Where do I go? Calls will be made over the stadium speakers for each age group and event. When you hear the call to report for your event, you need to check in immediately. Signs noting which events are currently in progress will also be placed at the clerking tent and field event locations. For running events, check in at the clerking tent located near the finish line at the southeast corner of the West Grandstand. See map. Once you check in, event staff will organize all athletes into their proper heats, and escort all athletes onto the track. Parents are not permitted in the clerking tent area or on the track. For our youngest athletes, an event staff member will be available to escort athletes from the exit point of the West Grandstand near the finish line to the clerking tent if needed. For field events, proceed to the proper field event area and check-in with the event clerk. Unlike at our regional meets, the field events are not open pit at this meet. Please listen for loudspeaker announcements to know when it is time for your age group to report to your field event. Parents are not permitted on the infield. For our youngest athletes, an event staff member will be available to escort athletes from the exit point of the West Grandstand to the infield. See map for field event locations. Running events always take precedence. If you hear an announcement for your running event while at a field event, check-out of the field event with the field event clerk and immediately proceed to the clerking tent to check-in for your running event. Please return to your field event to complete your jumps or throws as soon as you are done running. See schedule for approximate event times.

4 4 Can my parent come with me to my event? Parents are not permitted on the track, in the infield, or in the clerking tent. Parents can walk athletes up to the clerking area entrance. Event staff will be on hand to organize and escort all athletes from there. As athletes finish their races, parents will be able to interact with their athletes over the fence as they are in the finish line corral area, but will not be permitted to enter the finish line corral. All athletes will be released from the finish line back into the West Grandstand to return to their families. Please stay away from the clerking area entrance until your child needs to check in to reduce congestion in this area. Will athletes be able to warm-up? Yes, but not on the Hayward track or infield. You may be disqualified if you attempt to warm up on the Hayward track or infield. All athletes will have access to field 1 for warm ups, beginning at 6:00pm. Field 1 is located behind the West Grandstand and includes a turf field and a strip of track surface. See map. Please note it is your responsibility to be aware of what is happening inside the stadium and report back in time for your events if at the warm-up area. Can I use spikes or starting blocks? Track spikes are allowed. Starting blocks are not permitted. What should I do with my extra clothing layers before I race? Athletes may wear extra layers to the clerking tent to stay warm as they wait. Once it is time for their heat to be escorted to the start line, they will be instructed to take off any warm up layers and prepare to race. Athletes will pick up their clothing items from the finish line area at the finish of their race. Where can I find results? Live results will be available online at A link to the live results will be available on the website homepage during the event. Results printouts will also be posted at the info tent. See map. Are there semi-finals and finals? How are the top finishers in each event determined when there are multiple heats of the same age group? All races are timed finals. This means that each athlete s time will automatically be compared to the times across other heats of the same age group to determine the results. Top three times receive awards. When are awards presented? Awards will be presented throughout the meet after each event. The top three overall finishers in each event will receive awards. If an athlete finishes with a top-three time or mark, they will be asked to stay in the finish line corral or field event area until the final results are determined. Top three finishers will be escorted from the finish line corral to the awards podium. Once they have received their award, they will be released back into the West grandstand.

5 5 Can I take photos of the awards presentation? Photos may be taken from the West grandstand area, but you may not enter the track or infield to take photos. There will be an official awards photographer present, capturing photos. Photos will be posted online and available for free download the week following the meet. Where can I go if I have a question during the meet? Please direct questions to the red TrackTown Youth League info tent near the start of the 100m, or one of the competition staff in the white and black jackets. See map. Where can I find water? It is recommended that you bring your own re-fillable water bottle. Water filling stations can be found within the stadium. Water will also be available for athletes as they finish races near the finish line corral area. How can people access the live webcast?
