1 Local volunteer opportunities across Kirklees FREE! The SPORT Edition football - cycling - running - tai chi cricket - team sports - behind the scenes
2 What is it? A condensed version of our Volunteering Opportunities brochure - just for sport! All the latest opportunities, from coaches to behind the scenes roles and everything in between. How Volunteering Kirklees can help - we can: Help you decide on the kind of volunteering you may want to try Provide information on the wide range of available opportunities Give you details (names, addresses, phone numbers) of organisations looking for volunteers and explain more about their work Give ongoing support, such as help with appointments, filling out forms and training opportunities Outline what you should expect as a volunteer / what is expected of you Contact you regarding the latest opportunities. What can I offer? Time, enthusiasm and skills. Everyone has something to offer (even if you don t think you have). And it s also good to think about what you d like to get out of being a volunteer. How old do I have to be? Look out for the orange star if you re under 18! These opportunities are open to people aged Under 18. Contact us or go to: for other suitable opportunities. 2 Will there be an interview? Maybe. Some organisations have set processes (application form, references, trial periods etc) others may not. Roles which involve working with vulnerable people (children, young people, people with disabilities and some older people) often require a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check (previously a Criminal Records Bureau check). Having a criminal record does not mean that you can t volunteer. It all depends on the nature of your conviction, how recent it was and the kind of volunteering you re interested in. Contact us for more advice.
3 Volunteering Kirklees are working in partnership with West Yorkshire Sport to produce this brochure, giving you a sample of the kind of volunteer opportunities available in sport.
