2 10 Easy Steps For A Great Reebok Spartan Race Experience 1. Once you arrive at the race venue, proceed to the WAIVERS/ BIB NUMBERS tent located near the entrance to the Festival Area. 2. Fill out and sign your Participant Waiver, Killington Waiver, and NBC Waiver 3. Find your BIB number located on the BIB Number wall. Write it on your waiver. 4. Proceed to REGISTRATION tent with your Waivers and Photo IdentiVication in hand. Choose the lane with the number sequence that matches your BIB number. 5. Pick up your race packet from one of our awesome volunteers. 6. Loop the yellow wristband through the timing chip and attach it to your wrist. 7. Attach your BIB number to your shirt with safety pins. 8. If you choose, drop your stuff at BAG CHECK tent for safe- keeping. Bag Check is $5 per bag. 9. Head into the Festival Area, look for the START signs located within the Festival. 10.Prepare For Glory

5 PRE- RACE DETAILS PLEASE READ Follow these Pre- Race Instructions to ensure a speedy registration on race day 1. Visit the Vermont Spartan Beast, Vermont Spartan Sprint, or Vermont Spartan Ultra Beast event pages on our website. 2. Scroll down to Important Race Documents. 3. ATHLETE START TIMES will be posted on Wednesday, September 10th. 4. BIB NUMBERS will be posted by Wednesday, September 17th. 5. Click on the Start Times Link to /ind your exact start time. Your name will be in alphabetical order according to your last name. There you will /ind your heat start time. Write it down. Your BIB Number will be used to /ind your race packet when you arrive on Race Day. 6. Print the Reebok Spartan Race Waiver, NBC Wavier, and Killington Waivers located under Important Documents. 7. Fill out the waivers completely and bring it with you along with one valid form of ID. 8. EVERY RACER MUST SIGN ALL WAIVERS & SHOW A VALID FORM OF ID DO NOT FORGET YOUR PHOTO ID

6 RACE DAY REGISTRATION FLOW NOTE: Day of Race Registration will be available for the Beast on Saturday and Sunday at a fee of $250 and for the Sprint on Sunday for $150. NOTE: Show up at least 2 HOUR prior to your Heat Start Time at the parking lot. Saturday: Sunday: STEP 1: STEP 2: STEP 3: STEP 4: STEP 5: STEP 6: Registration OPENS at 6:00am and CLOSES at 1:30pm. Registration OPENS at 6:30am and CLOSES at 1:30pm. With your Signed Waiver, Bib Number and PHOTO IDENTIFICATION in hand, proceed to the REGISTRATION TENT. ** If you DO NOT have your Waivers or Bib Number, you can locate these at the WAIVERS/ BIB NUMBERS tents. Find the registration lane with the number sequence that matches your BIB number. Participants will hand race waivers to one of our awesome Volunteers in the Registration tent. Waivers and ID will be checked to verify identity before packet is received. You will receive: Race Bib (Bibs should be pinned on your front, back, or shorts). Spartan Headband with Bib Number- please wear headband during race so we can recognize your bib number. Wristband with your Start Time. All Racers MUST run during their designated start time. This wristband will get you into the start corral and serves as your festival access AFTER your race. Please keep it on at all times. Loop the yellow strap through the timing chip and attach it to your wrist. Free Drink ticket- Located on your bib (Don t lose this as we won t give you another one) Once you have your race packet and headband, proceed into the Festival area. BAG CHECK. If you re planning to store gear at our Bag Check tent, we will tag your bag with a wristband, which will match an identical wristband that you must wear. Once you /inish the race, you ll need to turn in your wristband in order to collect your bag. Bags will only be returned to individuals whose name and number match up. Bags can be checked for $5 per bag. For each checked bag, you will receive $5 in Spartan Bucks, which can be redeemed at the Merchandise Tent (not valid for Food or Beverage). Saturday: Bag Check tent will open at 6:00am and CLOSE when the last racer picks up their bags. Sunday: Bag Check tent will open at 6:30am and CLOSE when the last racer picks up their bags.

8 COURSE DESCRIPTION Terrain: Set in the hills of Killington Ski Resort, the 2014 Reebok Spartan Race World Championships will be the toughest course we ve ever designed. Whether you re running the Beast, Ultra Beast, or Sprint, plan on extended climbs and massive amounts of elevation change. Make sure to get in a good warm up prior to your race, as you ll be tested immediately once the race begins. The Beast course is approximately 14 miles and the Sprint course is approximately 4 miles long. A more accurate mileage will be given race- day morning. Obstacle count or type won t be revealed prior but you are going to be surprised with what the course throws at you. Weather: Vermont weather can be unpredictable at best. Please come prepared for any conditions. It can be very chilly in the mornings and the evening. Expect sun, rain, wind and cold temps. Time to break out all your favorite gear. You may need it. Swimming: There will be two swimming sections on the course. If you are not able to swim, then please choose to (a) wear one of the Spartan provided Personal Flotation Devices or (b) skip the obstacle and do your required burpees (note that Elite racers will be disquali/ied if they do not enter the water and attempt the obstacle as instructed by volunteers). Elite racers ARE ALLOWED to use the PFDs. Water temperature will be approximately 60F. Water Stations: There will be SIX water stations located on the Beast course, and one in the /inish chute. We will have TWO water stations located on the Sprint Course. We recommend that ALL participants carry a hydration pack with water and energy bars/ gels. Never underestimate the amount of time it will take to complete the course. Always plan ahead, bring enough supplies and water for you AND the person next to you. Water Stations: There are 7 water stations on the Beast course at the following locations (mileage approximate). This are not enough water stations to sustain you throughout the course, so you should be prepared carry water with you. (See RECOMMENDED GEAR) 1. Mile 1 2. Mile 3 3. Mile 5 4. Mile 7 5. Mile 9 6. Mile Mile 11 There are 2 water stations on the Sprint course at the following locations (mileage approximate). 9 Ultra Beast: The Ultra Beast will be two laps of the Beast course. At the end of the /irst lap, Ultra Beast racers will EXIT THE COURSE LEFT PRIOR TO THE FIRE JUMP and FINISH CORRAL, into the festival (look for signs and/or volunteers signals) After exiting the /irst lap into the festival, Ultra Beast racers are able to access the gear drop at the Bag Check tent (see GEAR DROP). To begin the second lap, racers must pass back through the start chute (you do not have to wait for a heat to begin just go). If racers do not have their timing chip, they must proceed to the results tent to notify timing of/icials they will be starting the second lap. IF RACERS ARE NOT GOING TO ATTEMPT A SECOND LAP, please let the timing team know, and remove your gear from the gear drop. GEAR Mandatory Gear: 1. QTY 1 Working headlamp, see (HEADLAMP AND GLOW STICK CUT- OFF ) 2. QTY 2 glow sticks with means of attaching them to your person (see HEADLAMP AND GLOW STICK CUT- OFF) Recommended Gear: 1. Extra headlamp batteries (note we said a working headlamp is mandatory) 2. A means of carrying at least 32oz of water 3. Electrolytes 4. Calories 5. Appropriate gear given the weather. Layers. 6. First Aid Material (Elites no outside assistance permitted) Gear Drop (ULTRA BEAST Only) 1. Containers or bags used for the gear drop must /it a 14 x24 footprint and be no larger than 30 quarts (7.5 gallons). We ll probably check every one All gear must be dropped at the bag check tent between 5:00am and 6:00am on Sunday of race day. There are 1200 registered racers, so please be patient during this process. Whining will result in disquali/ication. 3. You will be able to access your gear after completing your /irst lap and before starting your second. You can pack whatever you want into your gear bin and swap out anything you d like. Each lap must be completed with everything you take onto the course to start the lap. 4. You must sign- in and sign- out of the gear drop area

10 COURSE CUT- OFFS These Cut- Offs are in place for everyone s safety. Race Leadership reserves the right to modify these. In creating these cut offs, it was our goal to allow all racers to experience as much of the course as possible before being removed from the course. Please note that all mileage is estimated and that the obstacle/location is the more critical factor. 11 Headlamp and Glow Stick Cut- Off: Saturday and Sunday o 5:00pm: Racers must show they have, in their possession, a working headlamp, two glow sticks, and a means of attaching these glow sticks to yourself. Failing to have any of these items can result in being pulled from the course. o 7:00pm: Racers must be wearing their headlamp (turned on) and their two glow sticks cracked and attached to their person. Course Darkness Bypass Saturday and Sunday o ~7:00pm (sunset): Tyrolean Traverse at ~mile Any racers arriving to this obstacle after 7:00pm (or as determined by Race Leadership) can continue, once they complete a 30 burpee penalty, and will be forced to bypass this obstacle for safety reasons. EVENT TIMING You will receive a Chip Timer ($40 value) and yellow wrist strap to record your time and results. Chip Timer must be fastened around wrist in order to record your /inish time properly. Upon completion of the race at the Finish line: o Drop Chip Timer and wrist strap into buckets at either side of the Finish Line. o You will then receive your Spartan Race Medal and T- Shirt. Finisher Times will be posted at the Results Tent near the Finish Line and will be on the Spartan Race Website as quickly as possible. SPARTAN SHORT COURSE A multi- lap, high speed Spartan Short Course Race will take place Saturday evening featuring the fastest racers of the Beast race earlier that day. Swing by and cheer on your favorite competitor as they compete for a $8500 prize purse and see what this new concept in Obstacle Course Racing is all about. The Short Course will be open to the public from 11am to 2pm on Sunday. Registered racers may stop by to test their skills on an obstacle- dense short course.

13 AWARDS Saturday: There will be an awards ceremony at 5:30pm immediately following the short course event. Stick around afterwards, as we ll be raf/ling off prizes to some lucky winners. Cash Prizes will be paid to the Elite Beast and Ultra Beast Elite Heats only Cash payout to be announced in a separate communication. The top 3 male and 3 female racers will also receive a Unique Reebok Spartan Race Award. Each of the top 3 male and females will also be featured on Spartan Race's Wall of Champions page. This is the /inal event of the 2014 Points Series. Our 2015 Point Series begins on Sunday, September 21st. Sunday: The top 3 male and 3 female Elite Beast and Elite Sprint Finishers will receive a Unique Reebok Spartan Race Award designed. Each of the top 3 male and females will also be featured on Spartan Race's Wall of Champions page. FREE RACE PHOTOS Your FREE Race Photos will be available approximately one week after the event. 14 FESTIVAL CHALLENGES While you are waiting to race or looking for an extra workout, try out one of our Festival Challenges. Test your skills on the Traverse Wall, see how many pull- ups you can do at our Pull- up Challenge, how many times you can /lip a Tractor Tire, or see how many times you can push press our Slosh Pipe. 1 st place male and female challenge winners receive a Free Race Entry to the Spartan Race event of their choice. Traverse Wall Challenge An exact replica of the wall we use on course. The goal is to get across the wall without falling off and ring the bell in the fastest time Slosh Pipe Press A PVC pipe capped at both ends and /illed with water. The tube is only /illed to about 60% capacity, which allows the water to slosh around. How many times can you press the Slosh Pipe in one minute? Tire Flip Challenge Flip a tractor tire as many times as possible in 60 seconds. Clif Builders Bar Pull Up Challenge Cameras will record this entire challenge in hopes of documenting a new Guinness World Record for most pull- ups in one minute. This challenge will last all day, winner announced at the end of the day. From the Killington sign on Route 4 (across from Bill's Country Store) drive 3.6 miles up the Killington Road to Snowshed Base Area on left. Parking: Please feel free to use our Facebook wall to arrange carpooling Due to limited available parking, we highly recommend you carpool with some friends Parking is $10 (cash) per car. 15 SPECTATORS CHARITIES Spectator passes are available online here for $20 until Friday 5pm.Passes will be available onsite for $25. Please come by the Spectator Tent to pick up your wristband. Please print the Spectator Waiver from the Vermont event page and bring an ID to the Spectator Tent on race day. Spectator maps will be available at the Spectator Tent for those looking to get close to the action. Anyone entering the festival MUST /ill out a Spartan Race Spectator waiver and NBC waiver and have a wristband (including racers). Food (BBQ and healthy options) and drink will be for sale (please bring cash). Unique Spectator Course access with obstacle viewing, to get your favorite Spartan Racer s pictures DJ & Emcee entertainment all day. EQUIPMENT & CLOTHING All participants are encouraged to bring a change of clothes, shoes, and a plastic bag. You are going to get wet and muddy Shoe Donation will be available- we ll clean and send your /ilthy running shoes to needy feet all over the globe. Just tie them together and toss them in the pile by the showers. FOOD & BEVERAGES Food and beverages will be available for sale so please bring cash and have your ID ready if you are planning on having a beer. Washing Stations are located on- site, but bring a towel and a change of clothes. SPARTAN INFORMATION ALL CHILDREN MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY AN ADULT AT ALL TIMES. LEAVING YOUR CHILD UNATTENDED WHILE YOU ARE RACING WILL RESULT IN BEING PULLED OFF THE COURSE AND ASKED TO LEAVE. No pop- up tents are allowed in the festival. Tent space is reserved for Sponsors. No coolers or glass bottles allowed on property. Security staff will check for them as you enter. Shoe and clothing donation available both in festival and in parking lots. If you want to donate your muddy clothing and shoes make sure you drop it off at the proper tent and not on the ground. If you wear a GoPro, please make sure your contact information (name & phone number) is somewhere on the camera. If you lose the camera on the course, this is the only way we are able to identify it. You must have ID to check in. Racers ages 13 and older can participate in the adult s race. 13 year olds require a guardian to run with them on the adult course. Those under 13 are encouraged to join the Kids race. No DOGS/ pets allowed - Only Service Dogs with proper credentials are allowed. 17 INCLEMENT WEATHER In the event of inclement weather such as lightning, tornadoes, hurricanes and the like, Spartan Race reserves the right to eliminate obstacles, select portions of the course, or cancel the event in order to ensure the safety of racers, volunteers and staff.
