1 APPS TO FOLLOW THE RACE PUERTO DE LA CRUZ, FINISH LINE KEY POINTS TO FOLLOW THE RUNNER AND EXTERNAL ASSISTANCE RUNNER S FAMILY HELPLINE GUIDE FOR THE AUDIENCE The organization of the Cajamar Tenerife Bluetrail would like to share with you some useful information to follow the race and to help you keep an eye on your runner. 2 APPS TO FOLLOW THE RACE We know how important it might be for you to have real and updated information on the race. We have listed a set of apps you can download: 1.- LIVE STREAMING OF THE CAJAMAR TENERIFE BLUETRAIL 2017 AND BLUETRAIL SPIRIT By accessing you will be able to enjoy the live streaming of the race. Cameras will be placed at many points of the race (starting line in Los Cristianos, and later on in La Rambleta, Tigaiga and the finish line in Puerto de la Cruz from 8 am onwards) You will therefore be able to follow your runner live-stream on your mobile and PC. 2.- OFFICIAL TIMEKEEPING.- All the runners will be given a chip, which gives us real time information when a runner gets through a verification/control point. For the Ultra Modality, information will be given as runners pass through the following control points: Arona, Vilaflor, El Parador, La Rambleta, Base del Asomadero, Tigaiga and Finish Line. (Please note these last three points are common for all modalities). TrackingSport, as the provider of this service, has developed an easy-to-use app which allows you to follow the runners (the time from the starting gun to the time they finish the race, the leading runner and some other parameters) If you are unable or unwilling to download the app, you can still follow the runners via Below you will find a screenshot of the app (mobile app). As you see, the races and their respective runners are already listed. 2

3 Free apps for Android and IPhone: GEOLOCATION.- You can see where exactly your runner is as the app is also provided with a geolocation system (Now Run) The only condition is that the runner registers in the application and that he takes his/her mobile phone with him/her during the race, duly switched on. Following this requirement, anybody will be able to follow him/her with the app. This feature is available in two operational systems and for free. If you have any question, please ask our staff when collecting your race number. They will provide you will full information and solve your questions. 4 Thanks to the app and once you select the race you will be able to see all the runners who have registered in the app. 4

5 4.- Social Media. When a runner picks up his/her race number, he is given a few instructions to check whether he/she wishes to be officially tracked while passing through the checking points. He will decide whether this information will be published on Twitter and Facebook or not. The runner will activate the system, if he/she so wishes, when collecting his/her race number. Ultra Race Los Cristianos. START POINTS OF THE RACES All the starting points are important to us, but the Ultra race, starting in Los Cristianos (Playas las Vistas), will be a feast of sound and colour, given the place and time when it starts. This incredible show will start at in Playa de Las Vistas. We pay tribute to all those who dare to participate in a challenge like this, getting to the highest point of Spain, the Teide. There are few parking spaces available in the area, which is in the city centre of Los Cristianos. If you are just in time for the race, you can try in the harbour car park (this is the nearest to the starting line) or in a car park which is located at the beginning of the beach. This race starts on June 10, 2017 (Saturday), 00:00 h. 5

6 Trail Race Vilaflor It will depart on June 10, 6 am. The departure point is in one of the highest towns of Spain. You will easily park in the area. It will still be dark by then, so the activities and background music will be limited. It will depart from Santa Catalina street, just next to the access roads to the town. Maratón La Caldera, La Orotava. The Marathon will start on June 10, 9 am (Recreational Area of La Caldera, La Orotava). In order to prevent bottlenecks, it will depart from a paved runway known as El Mamio. For safety reasons, this area cannot be accessed by car, and the road is cut 1 km before. This is a very difficult place to see the race, it is better to see the runners during the race. 6

7 Half marathon Los Realejos This is the most explosive and followed race. It departs from the city centre of Los Realejos, and you will easily get to the starting line (please note there might be some difficulties for getting a parking space). The race starts on June 10, 8 am (Plaza San Agustín) 7

8 FINISH LINE (PUERTO DE LA CRUZ) If you are not sure of where to follow the race, a good place to do it is at the finish line, located next to Lago Martiánez in Puerto de la Cruz (the finish line is the same for all modalities). Playa de Martiánez (Google Maps) The organizers of the race have worked on an extensive and non-stop programme of activities, which will be held around the finish line. Activities programme: 09:45 to 11:00h. Brass Band (Jazz) 11:00 to 13:00h. Bloko del Valle (Batucada) 11:30 to 13:00h. Los Joroperos (Carnival Group) 15:30h. to 17:00h. Los Joroperos (Carnival Group) 16:30h. Awards Ceremony 17:00 to 18:30h. Brass Band (Jazz) 19:00h. Awards Ceremony 19:30h. Live Concert 8

9 This area is closed to traffic and it is not easy to park there, but there is a public parking in the area and also in Puerto de la Cruz. It might be difficult but not impossible, of course! The first runners of the Half Marathon will arrive around 10 am. The first runners from the remaining modalities will start to arrive around 12 pm. There are many restaurants and shops around the area. 9

10 KEY TRACKING POINTS AND EXTERNAL AID External aid We remind you that getting external aid is strictly prohibited, except in the official provisioning areas of the organization. 10

11 RECOMMENDED TRACKING POINTS ULTRA DEPARTING POINT. If you wish to track the runners at every single point of the race, this will be the first stop. As we said, some activities will take place in la Playa las Vistas from pm onwards. ARONA. Once the race starts, you will have time to get to the next station. Arona is a very good place, as the first provisioning area will be there, in Plaza del Ayuntamiento. You will reach the area in 15 minutes approx. from Playa las Vistas. You will first head to the highway, but you will not take it, continuing along the road TF28 and afterwards along the TF-51. You have now arrived at your destination! IFONCHE. The next point accessible with car. This local and dead-end road is accessible via the TF-51. You might find it difficult to find a car park if there are many people following the race. You will need to get to the end of the road, to the area where the Restaurant el Dornajo is located. 11

12 VILAFLOR. - Here is one of the main provisioning areas of the first part of the race. It is easy to get there via the road TF-51 (from Arona). Once in Vilaflor, go to the football ground where the provisioning area is located. It is at the top of Vilaflor. Departing from the main road which leads to Teide you will see a diversion. Finding a car park will be easy here. EL PARADOR. - Although there is a water provisioning area 4 km away from Vilaflor, we recommend that you directly head off to Teide National Park. There will be no traffic/access problems using the TF- 21. AN IMPORTANT DIFFERENCE HAVING REACHED THIS POINT IS TEMPERATURE, WHICH CAN BE 20ºC LOWER. PLEASE TAKE A HAT, A PAIR OF GLOVES AND A GOOD JACKET. YOU WILL NEED THEM IF YOU ARE OUTSIDE OF YOUR CAR. LA RAMBLETA. (3555 m). Once you leave the area of el Parador, the road runs through a natural and difficult to access area. You can reach the area of La Rambleta on foot, which means a few hours walking, or you can use the cable car (its first trip is at 9 am). This is a good experience if you are here as a visitor, and please note you can get your tickets in advance. LOS REALEJOS.- There are two points here, though not easy to reach. One of them is located in the Recreational Area of Chanajiga (km 74.5 for Ultra runners), accessible by paths and tracks. The other one is the area known as Base del Asomadero (you can get here on foot in around 15 minutes from Realejo Alto) Tigaiga. Urban point provided with a provisioning area. It is a little town you can get to from Realejo Bajo. Now you can go to the finish line. You will see an incredible landscape as you approach Rambla de Castro. The parking spaces might be limited, but you can access the area via the road TF-5. 12

13 TRAIL It is hard to follow the runners of this modality, as the race runs along areas which are not easily accessible by car. The only accessible point would be at km. 32 (half of the race). El Portillo Alto.- This is an area of restaurants located in Teide National Park. You must be careful when parking as it is normally a busy place. Apart from this area, we have two more points (already explained for the Ultra modality), not very easy to reach. One of them is the Área Recreativa de Chanajiga, reachable by tracks and runways, the second one is the Base del Asomadero (departing from Realejo Bajo, you will need to walk for around 15 minutes). Tigaiga.- It is a little town with a provisioning area. You can get to Tigaiga from Realejo Bajo. MARATHON The first part runs along GR-131, with no access for motor vehicles. As we said, there are some restrictions for vehicles. Notwithstanding with this, this area is accessible on foot (1 km approx...) The accessible points for this race would be those explained for the previous races. The first two (below) are not easily accessible: 13

14 - Recreational Area of Chanajiga (km 74.5 for Ultra runners), accessible by paths and tracks. - Base del Asomadero (you can get here in around 15 minutes on foot from Realejo Alto) Tigaiga is a great place to stay and see the runners passing, as there is a provisioning area. There are some urban areas from there to the finish line but, as we said, the best place to see the runners is the finish line, in Puerto de la Cruz. HALF MARATHON It is easy to get to the starting line in Los Realejos. From here, the best point of reference will be Tigaiga, which, as we said, is a great place to see the runners passing. There is also a provisioning area there. Tigaiga is a little town you can get to from Realejo Bajo. From here to the finish line there will be some other urban areas you might wish to join, but we recommend that you get to Puerto de la Cruz in time, find a parking space and see the runners running up to the finish line.
