2 . President s Report Con t grounds for me to have a whinge about my results but I suspect no one would have listened. Don Munro- Triple X UV & Aquatic Clothing - don@triple-x.com.au 10 Piper Drive Southern Cross Industrial Estate.Ballina. Ph % discount to club members President s Report. I started my last newsletter by saying the year was racing by well incase you haven t noticed, it almost has. The Classic has come and gone and spring is in the air. Don t you just love that 40 knot north easterly wind? The Lennox Head Longboard Classic 2009 was an outstanding success. As a club we all pulled together to put on an event that I think we can all be very proud of. A special thank you should go to the Classic committee but I think most club members had an opportunity to contribute and did. Alone we can do so little but together we can do so much. It certainly helped that the weather was great and the surf was excellent or good, most of the time. Most of you would know that good surf and comps is not that common. I think the fact that we had good waves meant that a lot of competitors enjoyed themselves and subsequently the spirit of competition was great. As head judge I can report no one expressed any disappointment with their results. In fact I don t think we had even one enquiry. Although on a personal note I think there were Anyway enough of that, apart from the obvious success of the classic from both the competitors and the clubs point of view, for me the highlight was the standard of the surfing. There were some very big maneuvers including a vertical 360 and some hang tens in very critical sections. This sort of surfing is really pushing the boundaries of what is possible. I have received complaints about the length of my earlier reports so I ll wrap it up. Before I go I d like to remind everyone to make the most of everyday, don t drop in (except on your friends), give your fellow surfers a smile and spare a thought for Paul Hicks. We re thinking of you mate. I ll leave you with the following quote: Let us be grateful to people who make us happy; they are the charming gardeners who make our souls happy Marcel Proust. Until next time, take care.pete R O/60 s Classic 2009 Finalist s Peter Regan s closing address Classic 2009 O/30 s Classic 2009 Finalist s 2

The Byron club are looking at latish in September to hold the 6 way inter club teams comp. As last year s winners they have the duty to organise this year s meet, guess it ll be up their way again. Saturday night saw the festivities move to the Lennox Point Hotel at 7pm with the Mystery Final draw, competitor s giveaways & a longboard from Astro Surfboards going to a stoked Lennox local Terry Kay. It was a Tooheys promotion at the pub with them coming on board as a major sponsor this year.
