2 BASIC INFORMATION Venue: Mandurah Aquatic and Recreation Centre When to be at school? If students can make best efforts to be at school by 8:30am so that buses can leave at 8:45am it would be appreciated. Students will be back at school by 2:45pm What to wear? St DCPS House Summer Sports Uniform. Thongs/Sandals acceptable. Swimwear underneath. What to bring towel, goggles (bathing caps will be provided on the day), drink bottle, underwear to change into. Lunch & Recess No canteen services will be made available to the students. They will need to have a lunch and recess packed in accordance with St DCPS Healthy Lunchbox Policy. Coffee and café facilities will be made available for parents. RACE RESULTS Races will be judged by eye. Parent Volunteers will be handing out places whilst final decisions will be made by Mr Crebert and Mrs Bright. Parent Volunteers will also be Time-Keeping however, this is only for record keeping. Freestyle Relays The top 4 fastest freestyle swimmers per grade & gender will swim in the Medley Relay. The next 4 will swim in the Freestyle. This system is designed to give every child the opportunity to swim in at least one relay. Medley Relays Year 3-6 (In Order - all 25m) Backstroke, Breastroke, Freestyle, Freestyle Grand Relay The fastest boy and girl from each grade in a House (4 Boys & 4 Girls Per Team) Each child swims 25m Freestyle INDIVIDUAL CHAMPIONSHIPS Only points gained from FINALS races contribute to Age Championship/ Runners Up. All students are put in divisions according to their previous trial times and current swimming levels as compared to teammates. We ask that the decisions of the judges are respected and under no circumstances will placings be changed after final decision.

3 RACE POINT ALLOCATION Div A & B & Finals Div C, D, E Relays 1st nd rd th SCHOOL SELECTION POLICY Divisions for Interhouse Races Students have swum in all events at Time Trials prior to the Carnival; these times were used to determine their divisions for the carnival. **Edit 2017 Time Trials were cancelled due to unfavourable weather. Selections for race divisions were based on previous time trial results, current swimming levels and teacher discretion. The top 8 students in each year level will swim in DIV A, the next 8 in DIV B, etc. The top 4 students in Div A and the top 4 students in Div B in every event, will be placed into a final to be swum at the completion of heats. The results of this final will be used to determine individual championships and PSSA selection. Freestyle Breaststroke Backstroke Relays Year 3 25m 25m 25m 25m Year 4 25m 25m 25m 25m Year 5 25m Year 6 Selection in the Interschool Team Students placing 1 st 4 th in a FINAL race gain automatic selection into the Interschool Team to swim in the stroke they are placed in. Places may be left available for students that require special consideration, e.g. Time Trial Error, Sickness etc. HOWEVER, any students receiving this wildcard must prove themselves at Training and at the Selection Time Trials. Further students may be selected, if needed, based on consistent results at the carnival, (for example, coming 4th in All Division A races) The Division that they will swim at the Interschool Carnival will be decided by a Time Trials later in the term, closer to the actual Carnival. This is to allow for further training. When selecting Divisions for the Interschool Carnival the placing from our Interhouse Carnival will not count. The 2 fastest from this Time Trial will represent the school in Division A, the next 2 will represent the school in Division B, the next 2 Division C. 25m
