If a ball should accidently go into the pool during an event, it may cause the Referee to declare a no race. This could prove disappointing to the competitors in the event who may be seeking qualifying times, Club Records or PBs, as well as earning points in a Championship event. Please be considerate of the swimmers competing in the pool. Slop on SPF 30+ screen make sure it s broad spectrum and, water resistant and reapplied at least every couple of hours. Slap on a hat make sure it s a brimmed hat that covers the face, neck, head and ears. Seek shade Slide on some sunglasses close fitting, wrap-around styles offer the best protection. And remember to take extra care between 10:00am and 3:00pm when UV radiation is most intense.

Just a reminder that qualifying has ended for all 200m distances this includes the 200m IM Age Championships events. POINTSCORE and the QUALIFYING PERIOD ENDS NEXT WEEK 23rd February 2015 Qualifying for Summer Club Championships Please check the 2014/2015 Summer Club book for qualifying criteria for championships for your age grouping for both Distance and Age Championships e.g. swims (stroke/distance), volunteering etc. Condensed information appears on page 6 of this newsletter. CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS Club Championships (Age and Distance) fee ($2.00 per event to a maximum of $10.00) is NOW DUE for eligible swimmers: Distance Chips - competed in seven (7) club nights by 19th January Age Cships - competed in seven (7) club nights by 23rd February Criteria for both Age and Distance Championships: Swum that event once successfully Parents fulfilled volunteer duties on minimum seven (7) nights by 23rd February 2015 ENTRIES FOR BOTH AGE AND DISTANCE CHAMPIONSHIPS EVENTS WILL BE AUTOMATICALLY ENTERED BY THE RACE COMMITTEE PROVIDING THAT THE ABOVE CRITERIA HAS BEEN MET AND YOUR CHAMPIONSHIPS FEES HAVE BEEN PAID. Over the top Starts may be implemented at the Referee s discretion on club nights to speed up proceedings on any events of distances of 50m or over. After completing a Freestyle, Butterfly or Breaststroke event, the competitor stays in the water against the wall until after the start of the next race. For Backstroke, competitors will position themselves on the lane rope two meters from the wall. When the following competitor dives over the top of the previous swimmer, he may leave the water.

CHILD SUPERVISION CLUB NIGHTS / CARNIVALS Swimmers under the age of sixteen years must have adequate supervision (by a person aged sixteen years or older) in attendance for the duration of club nights or carnivals. Any swimmers being identified in attendance at either a carnival or on club night without adequate supervision, will not be allowed to compete until his or her parent carer arrives to assume the supervisory responsibility for that swimmer.
