Alternatively, you can send a letter of complaint to PO Box 342, Moruya RAIN- The Protocol is that Club night will go ahead if there is very light rain or showers. However, the night will be cancelled if a forecast of heavier rain or thunderstorms are within the pool area. A decision will be made by pool management in collaboration with Club committee members, so please ring the pool if you are not sure. The number is

4 BECOMING A MEMBER REGISTRATION Fees for 2017/2018 All Swimmers $ Non Swimmer $ Dolphin swimmers (7yrs and under) FREE Registration payment consists of fees payable to SNSW (for insurance on Club nights and to and from and whilst at carnivals) as well as a small payment to your Swimming Club to cover costs involved in club operation. Registrations are to be done online as per Swimming NSW guidelines using Swimming Australia s Swim online system, please visit our website and pay using a credit card at: Registration (membership) cards are issued on payment or shortly afterwards and this is the number to identify each individual swimmer to SNSW when they compete so please keep it in a safe place as we cannot re issue a card. *Please Note* Parents/ Carers, for insurance purposes, we encourage you to register as a non-swimming member of the club. Parents swimming in the Parent/Child Relay or other races MUST BE registered swimmers (if you are only registered as a non-swimmer, you are not eligible to participate). All outstanding accounts owed to MASC from previous season must be paid in full before reregistration is accepted for the new season. 4

5 COURSES HELD During the season various courses such as timekeeping or marshalling are available (we will advertise them) through South Eastern Swimming Association (SESA). We encourage members to do a course, as it is a great benefit to the club, not only for club night but also for local and other swimming carnivals during the season where each club has to provide people in these positions. We hope all parents will be able to help out on club nights and on the day of the carnival as many hands make light work, and the children have a great day. CLUB NIGHTS Club nights are held on WEDNESDAY nights. Starting time is 6pm and pool entry is payable for swimmers only (unless a season pass is held). Small pools are not available for free swimming on Club nights as per Pool Management Policy. Club Night is not a race night but rather a continuing point score whereby you swim to try to improve your own time each week and are rewarded by accumulating points, dependant on your time on the night (see point score section). These points are tallied and decide the Point-score Age Champions at the end of season Presentations. Individuals point-scores are not available throughout the season. The stroke program for each week is found at the back of this information booklet however, it may be subject to change on the night. We encourage the use of flippers for younger swimmers to gain confidence until they are ready to complete a lap without assistance. All points are carried over for any change of distance or progression. RULES OF CLUBNIGHT ALL CHILDREN MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY OR IN THE CARE OF AN ADULT A swimmer accrues points for individual swims. However, they only receive points for one distance in each stroke. Other distances can be swum, at the discretion of the marshalling personnel, but if allowed, they will not be included in the points tally. 200m, 400m & 800m are a totally separate point score and are not included in this rule 25M Ruling Once a swimmer achieves: 25m Freestyle/Fly in 25secs or less 3 times- then they must move on to 50m, otherwise points will cease to accrue. 25m Back/Breast in 30secs or less 3 times - they must move on to 50m, otherwise points cease to accrue. This rule is to encourage Improvement and development in swimming Baths Dash and Brace Relay: These events are not counted in the overall Age point-score but are allocated a separate point-score to determine trophies for these events at the end of the season. They are counted as a swim for attendance purposes 5

6 FORMAT OF CLUB NIGHT Strokes - 3 per night taken from Freestyle, Breaststroke, Butterfly, Backstroke and Individual Medley (point score applicable) 2 Novelty Events One of either the Brace Relay or Baths Dash (both are handicapped and have a separate point score to determine awards for end of season Presentations). Baths Dash - 25m swim as fast as you can manage - usually in freestyle. Handicap applies after the first swim of this event. Brace Relay - relay with a partner (1 person at either end of the pool). You have to nominate your partner at the start of the season. If you need to change partners a new tally will commence from zero for the new partnership. If you then revert to the original partnership then that point score will be reactivated. Handicap applies after the first swim of this event. A separate heat will be held for any new partnerships. Parent Child Relay HELD Fortnightly. Parents swim with one or more of their children in the handicapped format. THE CLUBHOUSE The Clubhouse is for the use of full financial members of Swimming NSW. It is kept locked when not in use. Children are welcome to use the clubroom either for breakfast and/or in the afternoons after school. Children are expected to clean up after themselves, put rubbish in the bin, do their dishes, wipe benches, put utensils away and generally behave in a responsible manner. All children small children have to be in the care of an adult at all times Food in the Clubroom attracts rodents and should be kept in a sealed container by those swimmers who eat breakfast or go to the pool straight from school. The fridge will be checked regularly and all out of date food will be put in the bin. *We cannot guarantee the security of any squad or gear left at the Clubroom. Please see the committee if arrangements need to be made for gear to be securely kept. CLUB CAPTAINS When swimming club commences 2 Club Captains will be elected from the senior members (13yrs -18yrs), one male and one female (when numbers allow). Captains are elected by financial members of the club only. To be nominated for Club Captain you must: Regularly attend Club nights. Be 13 years and over at the beginning of our season (October). Ideally be a regular competitor at swim carnivals (outside of school) as Captains are expected to be role models for younger swimmers and sometimes need to help out with Team Manager duties at swim meets.. 6

7 CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS *Please Note* To be eligible to place in the Club Championships you must be a financial member of MASC by the 15 th Nov If you have joined later than this date, you may swim but not be included in the winning places. Distances for Club Championships 7yrs & under 8yrs to 11yrs 12yrs and over 25m of each stroke and 100 IM 50m of each stroke and 100 IM 100m of each stroke & 200 IM STROKES: You must swim 3 out of the 5 strokes over the 2 Club Champs Nights to be eligible for age champion (ie. 3 out of breaststroke, freestyle, backstroke, butterfly and individual medley). ANNUAL AWARDS Awards presented at Presentation Night are: Overall Point-score Champion 12 & Over (must comprise both carnival points and MASC club points). Winner only Overall Point-score Champion 12 & Under (must comprise both carnival and MASC Club Points). Winner only Club Point-score Champion, points from club nights only one trophy only Age Champions 1 st 2 nd and 3 rd in each age group- based on club champs swim. SNSW point scoring system used to calculate place points. Age Point-score Champion and Runner up in each age group. Based on weekly swims and points accumulated. Novelty events - Bath Dash and Brace Relay: 1 st, 2 nd and 3 rd place. Based on total of separate handicapped point-scores. Parent/Child Relay- 1 st, 2 nd and 3 rd place. 9 CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS POINTSCORE: Based on NSW Swimming Point Scoring System: 1 st 35pts, 2 nd 30pts, 3 rd 26pts, 4 th 23pts, 5 th 20pts, 6 th 17pts, 7 th 14pts, 8 th 11pts, 9 th 8pts, 10 th 5pts Your age for the overall point score at the end of the season is based on the age you are on the first Club Champs Night and your points are carried over when your age changes. Carnival points included in the Overall Pointscore tally at the end of the season are calculated using the following. One point for each carnival race swum plus: Age 11 and under Age 12 and over 1 st place - 3 points 1 st place - 6 points 2 nd place - 2 points 2 nd place - 4 points 3 rd place - 1 point 3 rd place - 2 points PARENTS SWIMMING ON CLUB NIGHTS If a parent has paid to be a registered swimmer they are able to compete and accumulate points for 50m or 100m freestyle only. They may also swim other strokes however no points will be given. 9

10 SWIMMING CARNIVALS Carnival Entries Programs for upcoming carnivals are posted on the Notice Board (in the clubroom), and are ed out. If you wish to enter into carnivals this season, entries are completed online only and are individuals own cost. Parents and swimmers should check the carnival calendar and decide at the start of the season which carnivals they are likely to attend and plan for those over the season in consultation with your coach. If you require any information or assistance please call the race secretary, ALL swimming carnivals are held and operate under the guidelines of Swimming NSW. Please see a committee member if you wish to read these rules. Carnival results can also be checked on the Club website under the My Results link. This will provide a listing by swimmer or by event. Assistance at Carnivals - Members competing at swimming carnivals need to be accompanied by another person, e.g. a parent, to assist with duties that come with the privilege of carnival attendance e.g. timekeeping. Clubs are allocated timekeeping lanes according to our numbers of attendee swimmers and we are also required to provide officials such as recorders, marshalls and check starters. Your assistance on the day is greatly appreciated and expected! 10
