1 Christmas Starts and Turns Training Camp 27th, 28 th & 29 th December 2012 The RWS Swimming Camp is located on Penn Road, Wolverhampton on the beautiful campus of the Royal School Wolverhampton. It boasts some of the most impressive training facilities of any school in the country. It is a chance to learn from and train with coaches and swimmers who have worked at National and International Level. Enrolment is limited as we want to ensure an effective staff to swimmer ratio. The 3 Day Camp is for those swimmers who want a taste of what elite swimming is all about. It is a technique oriented camp based around the RWS training method and philosophy. The Camp is open to boys and girls ages that currently swim at county or regional standard. It is designed with competitive age and youth swimmers in mind will challenge swimmers to improve both their technical and mental approaches to swimming. The Camp will include 5 swimming sets and 3 gym sessions over the 3 days. An Exhibition swim and question and answer session with GB International Athletes. Underwater video session and feedback session with a DVD to take away. The video unit is the same as that used on England Talent Camps. LTAD and Pathway to the Top lecture from International Coach Nathan Hilton Opportunity to watch and listen to the RWS Elite Swimming Programme sessions. Availability and Camp Fees Availability is on a first come first serve basis with limited spaces. A 50 non-fundable deposit and completed registration form are required to hold your space. Upon receiving your deposit and registration you will receive an confirming your acceptance with the RWS Swim Camp and your spot will be reserved. The fees for the Camp are 150 for all 3 days, 120 for 2 days or 70 for just one day. Payments are due in one month before the start of the Camp (30th November 2012.) No refunds will be made for any reason after December 1st 2012 Supervision/Health and Welfare Experienced coaches or a member of staff will supervise campers the entire time they are on Camp. All employees are required to have passed a CRB check before being employed with the programme. They are responsible for the health and welfare of all swimmers on the Camp. If a camper is feeling unwell, a member of staff will contact the parent or guardian as soon as possible there is also a qualified Riestaider on the Royal School site 24 hours a day. What to Bring and Expect Each day swimmers need to make sure they bring a swim costume, goggles, swim hat(s), fins, towels (at least 2), trainers, dry land attire, and a water bottle. Over the course of the three days, there will be technique based swim sessions, dry land training sessions, a video stoke analysis session, meet at greet GB swimmers and lecture from a GB International Coach. There will also be fun afternoon activities planned each day.

2 Meals & Snacks Campers should arrive each day having eaten breakfast. A national, packed lunch should be bought with the swimmers from home every day. Campers should also bring everyday snacks for midafternoon refreshments. In the past two seasons I have been fortunate enough to put two swimmers on GB International Teams & have been selected as part of the coaching staff for 3 Great Britain Junior Swimming Teams. The feeling when I knew I had put athletes on a GB International Team was immense, working with someone every day for in excess of a year to achieve a goal then it all happening is amazing and has only been surpassed by having one of my athletes top of the Podium & the National anthem playing!! I have been lucky enough for this to happen twice now. My ambitions for the future are to build Royal Wolverhampton School into one of the top Youth & Senior Programmes in the country, put an athlete onto a GB Senior Team (preferably an Olympic Team), and be part of winning an Olympic Gold Medal & to coach at an Olympic Games winning numerous medals. Once my swimming career had finished I decided that I wanted to go into coaching and took up the

3 Assistant Coach position at Lincoln Vulcans in 1998 where I coached 2 GB Junior Internationals & numerous National Champions & finalists. In 2003 I decided that it was time to become a Head Coach and took up my first position as a Head Coach at Cleethorpes & District SC taking the club from only having 8 hours pool time per week up to the top squad having in excess of 20 Hours of pool time per week. During my time at Cleethorpes I developed many National Champions, Medallists & Finalists culminating in my last season at the club having 12 National Qualifiers & over 35 regional swimmers. In 2008 I decided to move on again and took up a role with West Midlands Swimming which has led to me being based at the Royal Wolverhampton School coaching a group of elite National & International swimmers. In our first season I coached Royal Wolverhampton School swimmer Rachael Kelly to 3 European Junior Championship medals (Gold & 2 Silvers) & 1 bronze medal at the 1st World Youth Olympics in Singapore. On top of this we also had 3 National Champions (Rachael Kelly, Adam Rowe & Penny Whittingham) along with numerous other National finalists. In our second season so far we have managed to put Rachael Kelly (World Youth Championships, Lima, Peru) & Adam Rowe (European Junior Championships, Belgrade, Serbia & World Youth Championships, Lima, Peru) onto GB Junior International Teams. Marc Foster As a swimmer I always expected the best from myself in training no matter how I was feeling or what had happened during the day. As a coach I also expect myself to give my best in every session no matter how I am feeling or what has happened during the day. This is why I get so annoyed and frustrated when swimmers claim that they are working hard when they are clearly not. I hope that my enjoyment of coaching, love for the sport and winning transfers across to the swimmers that I work with, as there is nothing more satisfying as a coach than watching a swimmer who has worked hard and win medals and achieve their goals. My ambition for the future is to keep building on the current levels of success that the swimmers of The Royal Wolverhampton School have already achieved, and see the programme grow into something really special that sets the standards for other clubs and programs in the country to follow. I have coached numerous swimmers to regional championships and finals but my highest achievements are: Coaching swimmers to Nationals in 2010 and 11. In 2010 the swimmers I coached made numerous finals and won 8 medals in 2011 the swimmers made 10 finals and won 3 Joe Stanford I have been involved in completive swimming for 10 years reaching a national level for both an individual and relay team as an athlete. In 2010 I was given a 3 year Coaching Apprenticeship with The Royal School Wolverhampton which I am currently undertaking now.

4 I was the Team Manager on the Level One Development Camp held in Coventry in the 2010/11 season. I have learnt a lot at Royal Wolverhampton School already completed my level 3 coaching apprenticeship and looking forward to the opportunity that will arise from my training under a highly skilled coaching team and national level squad at The Royal Wolverhampton School. 6 TERMS AND CONDITIONS TO RWS SWIM CAMP Clothing /footwear: As stated on course information Joining instruction: Full details and course information will be sent prior to start of course. Safety: Regulation made to the safety and comfort of course members must observed Behaviour: RWS reserves the right to send anyone home who demonstrates thoroughly unreasonable behaviour. Smoking: RWS is a non-smoking campus and all visitors are kindly requested to comply with these regulations. Personal Loss or injury: RWS cannot accept responsibly for any personal loss or injury sustained by participants Cancellation: RWS reserves the right to cancel the course up to 14 days before the start date if numbers enrolled have not reached the minimum requirement. A complete refund of the fee will be given or alternative course offered Refunds: Refunds will only be given in the event of the course being cancelled by RWS.
