The meet is limited to 200 swimmers at the discretion of meet management. Entry Deadline: Thursday November 10, 2016 at 9:00pm Scratch Deadline: Any scratches received on or before Sunday November 13, 2016 will have full reimbursement. After said date, a medical note must accompany scratch for reimbursement. No new heats will be created after Monday, November 14, Fees: $ per swimmer which includes the SWIM BC splash fee, and $4.25 facility improvement fee. There are no fees for relays. * the swimmer charge must be paid in full on the first day of the meet. Cheques payable to: Simon Fraser University Swim Team. Seeding/Finals: The meet will be pre-seeded with no deck entries. The fastest three heats will be circle seeded for meter events with the fastest 2 heats seeded in 400 meter events. Finals will be seeded as: A final top 6 competitors B final ( m events) next fastest 6 C final ( m events with 24 or more entrants) next fastest 6 (The C final will swim first in finals, followed by the B final, then the A final). All swim-offs are to be run by the end of the session in which the tie occurred at a time mutually agreed upon by coaches and officials. Should an alternate be called into a final it will be a nonscoring swim. Scratches: There is no scratch penalty for no-shows, step downs and unexcused incomplete swims during prelims.

2 The following rules apply for all finalists (A, B and C) plus alternates as listed on the official posting of results. For all finals sessions, no-shows, step downs and unexcused incomplete swims will be considered late scratches and dealt with as such. The initial scratch deadline for finals each night will be 30 minutes following the completion of morning preliminaries. The last scratch deadline for finals will be 30 minutes prior to the of the finals session. Late scratches (as defined above) from finals will be subject to the late scratch penalty of $20, plus removal from all other events, including relays, on that day. In addition, no other member of the late-scratching swimmer s team shall compete until the $20 penalty has been paid. Relays: Relays will be swum as timed finals. Saturday and Sunday s relays will swim in the finals session. Names and order of relay swimmers must be provided to meet management no later than one hour before the of the session. Meet Rules: SWIM BC, Swimming Canada, NCAA and FINA rules will apply. Current Swimming Canada swim suit policy will be followed. Swimming Canada Warm-Up Procedures will be in effect and will be monitored by safety marshals. If meals are provided for officials and coaches, it will be in an assigned room off deck. Swimmers are are asked to eat in the viewing gallery, Tim Horton s cafeteria or other areas off deck. Thank you in advance for your cooperation and understanding. Eligibility: All swimmers must be registered with the NCAA, SWIM BC or other FINA affiliated organization. Coaches Meeting: There will be a coaches meeting 10 minutes prior to the of the first session. Officials Meeting: There will be an officials meeting prior to the of each session. Awards: The top 12 of each individual event will compete in 2 heats of scoring finals. For m events with a minimum of 24 entries, there will be a non-scoring C final. The meet will be scored with a trophy for the winning Collegiate team. Individual scoring will be through 12 places as follows: Individual events: Relay events points: Should an alternate be called into a final it will be a non-scoring swim. Deck Food: Due to facility regulations, light food snacks will be allowed for officials and coaches only on the deck. 4 COMPETITION WARM-UP SAFETY PROCEDURES Meet Management for all sanctioned Canadian swimming competitions must ensure the following safety procedures are applied. It is incumbent on coaches, swimmers, and officials to work together to comply with these procedures during all scheduled periods. Coaches are requested to encourage swimmers to cooperate with Safety Marshals. GENERAL WARM-UP: Swimmers must enter the pool FEET FIRST in a cautious manner, entering from a or turn end only and from a standing or sitting position. Running on the pool deck and running entries into the pool are prohibited. Meet Management may designate the use of sprint or pace lanes during the scheduled warmup time. Any such lane usage must be communicated through a pre-competition handout, an announcement or deck signage. Diving s shall be permitted only in designated sprint lanes. Only one-way swimming from the end of sprint lanes is permitted. Pools with backstroke ing ledges available may offer a designated lane for backstroke s, at meet management s discretion. (This is not mandatory if not enough general lane space is available for the number of swimmers in the meet.) Notices or barriers must be placed on ing blocks to indicate no diving during. EQUIPMENT: Kick Boards, Pull-Buoys, Ankle Bands, and Snorkels are permitted for use in the main pool during. Hand paddles and flippers are permitted for use in a secondary pool only (where available), at meet management s discretion and recommended only for higher level or senior competitions. At meet management s discretion and based on available space, the Meet Manager may permit use of tubing or cord assisted sprinting in designated lanes and during specific times of the only. It is recommended that this only be allowed in secondary pools as space allows. Coaches are responsible for equipment reliability and use. 5 It is recognized that there is a level of interpretation and common sense that must be applied when applying these guidelines. Diving headfirst quietly into an empty pool at the of is not the same as diving headfirst into a crowded lane. Judgment and context is required. Swimmers witnessed by a Safety Marshal diving or entering the water in a dangerous fashion may be removed without warning from their first individual event following the period in which the violation occurred and the alternates in that event notified should that event be a final. They may also receive a verbal warning from the Safety Marshal. Swimmers receiving verbal warnings will have their names and clubs registered with the Meet Manager. In the case of a second offense during the same competition the swimmer may be removed from the remainder of the competition. SAFETY MARSHALS: The Safety Marshal is a trained position designated by Meet Management. Safety Marshals shall: Be visible by safety vest. Be situated at each end of the competition pool and when applicable, similarly situated in designated pools when pre-competition s are scheduled. Actively monitor all scheduled periods. Ensure participants comply with safety procedures and report violations to the Referee. Depending on the level of competition, Safety Marshals have a role to help work with coaches and swimmers to ensure a safe environment. This may include educating a younger swimmer on the rules or communicating a concern to a coach. Judgment, tact and confidence is required and therefore the Safety Marshal should ideally be a more experienced official. PARA-SWIMMER NOTIFICATION: Coaches are requested to notify Safety Marshals of any Para-swimmers participating in s where necessary and at the coach s discretion.
