Spectator seating is available outside the pool and above pool deck. All swimmers will swim together regardless of age or sex. This meet is open to all competitive level swimmers within the Huronia Region who are registered with Swim Ontario. The meet has a no time standard but meet management requests that all swimmers be entered with their best available entry time to allow for proper seeding. All entries times will be converted to short course times, using the default conversion factors in Hy-Tek Meet Manager and then seeded accordingly 2

3 Awards: Meet Rules: Heat Winner ribbons will be presented to swimmers who win their heat. Personal Best ribbons will be presented to all swimmers who obtain an event personal best time. SNC rules apply. SNC WARM UP PROCEDURE WILL BE IN EFFECT AT THIS MEET. NOTE: No session will be longer than 4 ½ hours. Entries: Swimmers are encouraged to enter the maximum of FOUR individual events and one relay. Swimmers entered in the distance events must have completed the event at least once in a practice situation. It is left up to the coach s discretion as to whether that swimmer is ready to try it in a meet situation. Entry Deadline: April 30 th, 2014 Entries must be in Hy-Tek format and submitted via No entries will be accepted by meet management. Entry fees must be paid the day of the meet. Entry Fees: Scratch Rules: $25 per visiting Huronia club swimmer, $15 per hosting Huronia club swimmer (payable to Huronia Region Swimming Association). Cheques are due the day of the meet. Any errors to the meet entries must go to the Clerk of Course. Please have all scratches to the Clerk of Course within 30 minutes prior to the start of the meet. Swimmers will be automatically scratched after the final call for the event and will not be penalized. 3

4 Coaches Information: Please have the relay cards into the Clerk of Course within 30 minutes after the warm-ups have begun. Coaches are responsible for their swimmers conduct at all times before/during/after the meet. Deck entries will be permitted as long as long as proof of SNC registration is provided. Results will be posted on the SNC website SWIMMERS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO EAT WHILE ON DECK. THIS IS STRICTLY ENFORCED BY MEET MANAGEMENT, LIFEGUARDS AND FACILTIES PERSONNEL. SWIMMERS MUST GO OFF DECK TO EAT. 5 SWIMSUIT RULES: MATERIAL The material of swimwear will definitively be constituted only by textile fabric(s). The FINA definition of textile currently is: Material consisting of, natural and/or synthetic, individual and non-consolidated yarns used to constitute a fabric by weaving, knitting, and/or braiding. SHAPE MEN swimwear shall not extend above the navel or below the knee. WOMEN swimwear shall not cover the neck, extend past the shoulder, nor extend below knee. No zippers or other fastening system is allowed. Swim Ontario policy on Split Times Meet Management acknowledged the SO policy with banning the future use of split times as official times and requires that any coach wishing to rely on a time achieved by the swimmer for an interval shorter than the total distance of the event shall so advise the Referee prior to the commencement of the session (or event) in question. In such a case, Meet Management and the Referee will undertake all appropriate steps as prescribed by their training to assure the quality and integrity of interval times. Any time collected according to this request will subsequently be recorded in a separate event of the appropriate distance and stroke created for such a purpose." Swimming/Natation Canada Rule SW 10.1 Item 5 "where, due to facility or time limitations, swimming seperated by gender would not permit all swims to be completed while offering reasonable opportunities to swim for all participants, and in particular on an equitable basis for swimmers of each gender. In spite of this rule, any swimmer who achieves a record time at any level (club, regional, provincial, national, etc, whether age-group or open) will not be recognized for that record unless the coach has advised the referee prior to the start of the session in which the is to be contested that there is a possibility of the record being broken, and the referee ensures that the swimmer competes with competitors of the same gender for his/her heat. In the event that mixed gender swims are permitted purusant to this policy, the results still be posted separately by the gender of swimmers. 5

6 APPENDIX D SWIMMING/NATATION CANADA RISK MANAGEMENT / WARM-UP PROCEDURES 2009 During the designated warm-up period, the meet management committee shall be responsible for ensuring that all Risk Management/Warm-up procedures are followed. It is incumbent on all participants, i.e. meet management, coaches, swimmers, and officials to comply with these procedures. Non-compliance with these procedures will result in a warning or removal of the swimmer from the warm-up pool, and possible further reporting to meet management and the Referee for action under rule SW Meet management shall designate Safety Marshals to actively monitor the warm-up period in the competition pool and ensure compliance with these procedures. Safety Marshals should be notified of any disabled swimmers who are participating in warm-ups. Additional practice pools, if any, are to be supervised by lifeguards and coaches. Safety Marshals shall be responsible to the Referee for all aspects of safety related to conduct during the warm-up period and shall ensure that all appropriate warm-up procedures are followed. (CSW ) GENERAL WARM-UP RULES: Swimmers shall enter the water FEET FIRST in a cautious manner. No Running on the pool deck or Diving from the side of the pool. Meet Management shall provide signage to indicate designated lane use during warm-up. Notices/barriers shall be placed on starting blocks to prevent diving during the general warm-up. Diving Starts are only permitted in designated Sprint Lanes during the warm-up period. Lanes shall be open primarily for Circle Swimming during the General warm-up period. Coaches and swimmers shall allow Backstrokers & PARA swimmers the right of way for safety purposes. Meet Management may designate a Sprint Lane(s) and/or a Pace Lane(s) throughout the general warm-up period. SPECIFIC/SPRINT WARM-UP PERIOD: Sprint and Pace lanes must be opened for at least the last 30 minutes of warm-ups or as designated by meet management. Outside Lanes should be designated as Sprint Lanes. Only one-way swimming shall be permitted in Sprint Lanes. Sprint Lanes, Pace Lanes, and Circle Swimming lanes shall be clearly marked with signage. The following statement shall appear in the meet information and in posted notices: "SNC WARM UP PROCEDURES WILL BE IN EFFECT AT THIS MEET". EQUIPMENT: FLUTTER BOARDS and PULLBUOYS are allowed. HAND PADDLES and FLIPPERS (ZOOMERS) are NOT ALLOWED. 6

If you don t already have a user id and password, click on Register Now! and follow the process. Note that your account will need to be approved by your Club Officials Chairperson before you can complete your sign-up to officiate at this meet. 2. Once you ve signed in, mouse over the heading called Meets and a drop down box will appear. Click on the heading Register for Meet. 3. Select Huronia from the Region drop-down box. 4. Find the entry for the 2014 HRSA Development Meet #3 (EAST) in the list of meets, then click on Select a Session for this meet. 5. Click on Register beside the session you would like to work, and then type in your requested position or special requests in the provided text box. 6. Click on Register at the bottom of this page to complete your entry.
