Coaches will be notified prior to the meet of any changes to the specifications of this meet package, unless such changes can be dealt with at the commencement of the meet without disadvantage to the swimmer.) Eligibility: a) Open to all swimmers registered as winter competitive swimmers with Swimming/Natation Canada (SNC) or FINA affiliates. b) PARA swimmers who are registered with a FINA or IPC affiliate are welcome and will be seeded according to their entry time. c) Swimmers must be a minimum seven years of age as of the 1 st day of the competition. Competition: a) Current SNC rules shall apply except as specifically modified herein. (revised edition September 2013) b) All events are timed finals. Males and females will compete separately c) Age groups based on age of swimmer as of April 9,
3 Female 10 and Under, 11 12, 13 14, 15 and Over Male 11 and Under, 12 13, 14 15, 16 and Over d) Heats may be combined as necessary e) Except for Backstroke events, swimmers will remain in the water at the completion of their swim to allow the next heat to get under way. Swimmers will stay to the side their respective lane against the lane rope. f) The meet management MAY limit the entries in the 200 Freestyle, 400 Freestyle, 800 Freestyle, 1500 Freestyle and/or the 200 Individual Medley to a specific number of heats in order to meet swim meet timelines. In this event, the Saskatchewan AA time standard will be used as a de-qualifying time standard, and coaches/teams will be notified prior to the start of the meet to allow for event substitutions. Relays: 4 x 50 Mixed Medley & 4 x 50 Mixed Freestyle Mixed relay events will be swum in the following age categories: 10 & under, 11 & 12, 13 & 14 and 15 & over Relay teams may be comprised of any combination of genders. Swimmers may only swim on one relay in their age category. Swimmers may swim above their age category but not below. Relays are being held as one event and then multi aged for results in the age categories as stated above. Relay name changes shall be accepted each day up to 30 minutes before the start of the session that the relay event is being held. If there is a break during the session, then name changes may be submitted after the conclusion of the last event prior to the break. Please note: During the 4 x 50 relays, with the turn end only being 1.0 meters deep, the 2 nd and 4 th swimmer must start in the water from a push (one hand must be on the wall at start) 3
4 Seeding: All events will be pre-seeded by time and seeded slowest to fastest. No time entries will be accepted. Start: Scratches: The FINA start shall be used for all events per SNC Rule SW4. Scratches from heats simply create empty lanes, as there will be no re-seeding. Scratches from heats may be made at any time without penalty except for loss of entry fee. Clubs are requested to report any scratches no later than 45 minutes prior to the start of that day Protests: As per SNC Rule GR 9.2. Events: Entries: A list of events can be found at the end of this document. All Clubs must submit entries by uploading their Hy-Tek Entry file to the National Entries and Results site at: Remember: No time entries will be accepted All meet entries must be accompanied by the swimmer s 9-digit SNC registration number. Entries without a registration number will not be accepted. Classification Numbers for PARA swimmers must accompany entries (ie. s6sb6sm6). All entries must be in long course metres. Converted times will be accepted. Swimmers are limited to a maximum of six (6) individual events. Limitations: a) Meet Management reserves the right to limit the number of entries per event. b) The meet is limited to 170 swimmers registered with Swimming/Natation Canada. Entries will be accepted on a firstcome, first-entered basis. When the meet reached 169 entered swimmers, the next team in its entirety will be accepted. Deck Entries: a) Deck entries will be allowed at the discretion of the Meet Manager, and only if lanes are available. Deck entries must be submitted to the Clerk of Course no later than 45 minutes prior to the start of the day in which the deck entered event is being swum. 4
5 b) All deck entries must be accompanied by a Cheque or Cash c) Fees for deck entries will be $15 for individual swims and relays. Entry Fees: Individual Events $60.00 per swimmer Relay Events - $10.00 per event Please make cheque payable to the Swift Current Barracudas Swim Club. Entry Deadline: All entries must be uploaded to the SNC swim site by midnight April 1, 2016 (Eastern Standard Time) All entry fees must be received by the first day of meet prior to warm-up. (Individual or relays) Ribbons will be awarded for individual events from 1 st to 8 th place. Ribbons will be awarded for relay events from 1 st to 3 rd place only. Results will be reported in four age categories: Female - 10 & Under; 11 & 12; 13 & 14; 15 and Over Male - 11 and Under, 12 & 13, 14 & 15, 16 and Over Mixed relay - 10 & Under; 11 & 12; 13 & 14; 15 and Over All clubs will be able to obtain results off the Swim Canada website: Additional paper copies of meet results may be ordered if prepayment is made of $5.00 per copy. As per SNC Swimming Rule CSW Meet Management requires, that a coach wishing to rely on a time achieved by a swimmer for an interval shorter than the total distance of the event, must advise the Referee and Meet Management prior to the commencement of the event in question will be held. Official Split requests must be submitted to the Meet Manager a minimum of ½ hour prior to the start of the session that the event is being held. The Official Split Request Form is available through Meet Management or by downloading from the SNC site at: 5
6 Such official split shall then be reported as a separate event in the meet results Meet Safety Rules: a) SNC Warm up procedures will be in effect at this meet, as per the Swimming/Natation Canada, Competition Warm-Up Safety Procedures (November 25/2014)(See attached document) During warm-up, no swimmer shall enter the pool by a dive. Exception: During the last 25 minutes of each warm-up session when Lanes 1,2, 5 and 6 are designated as diving lanes. During this period, diving and one-way swimming only, will be allowed in these lanes. Lane 3 will be designated pace lanes. b) Safety Marshalls will be on deck during warm-ups. It is the Coach s responsibility to ensure that all swimmers are aware of, and adhere to, these safety rules and to all rules of the facility. Officials: General Information: Help with officiating would be greatly appreciated. Please list volunteers on the attached Officials Form, or ask them to phone James Kissick (306) a) Any meet changes will be provided to the coaches before the meet at warm up. b) Clubs are responsible for their valuables and for the conduct of their swimmers. Swimmers caught vandalizing or pilfering will be disqualified from the meet. c) The Aquatic Centre is a non-smoking facility. d) Only the host club may sell merchandise at the meet. e) Your co-operation is expected in ensuring that quiet is provided at the start of each race. No flash photography at the start of the race. f) There is to be NO food allowed on deck. A concession will be available off the pool deck. Water in plastic containers only is allowed. g) Teams are required to keep their respective areas of the deck clean, to use trashcans, and not to bring breakables or sunflower seeds on the deck. 6
7 h) Lockers are available in the change room; however, these are not equipped with locks. Swimmers are advised to bring their own locks if they wish. i) Lane assignments will be posted at the pool. It is the responsibility of the coach and/or team manager to direct their swimmers to only warm up in those lanes that are assigned to their club. j) No deck changing will be allowed. 9 SWIMMING CANADA COMPETITION WARM-UP SAFETY PROCEDURES November 25, 2014 Meet Management for all sanctioned Canadian swimming competition must ensure the following safety procedures are applied. It is incumbent on coaches, swimmers, and officials to comply with these procedures during all scheduled warm-up periods. Coaches are requested to encourage swimmers to cooperate with Safety Marshals. GENERAL WARM-UP: Swimmers must enter the water FEET FIRST in a cautious manner, entering from a start or turn end only and from a standing or sitting position. Running on the pool deck and running entries into the pool tank are prohibited. Meet Management may designate the use of sprint or pace lanes during the scheduled warm-up time. Any such lane usage must be communicated either in pre-competition handout, announcement or deck signage. Diving starts shall be permitted only in designated sprint lanes. Only one-way swimming from the start end of sprint lanes is permitted. Notices or barriers must be placed on starting blocks to indicate no diving during warm-up. EQUIPMENT: Kick Boards, Pull-Buoys, Ankle Bands, and Snorkels are permitted for use in the scheduled warm-up time. Meet Management may permit use of tubing or cord assisted sprinting in designated lanes and during specific times of the warm-up only. Coaches are responsible for equipment reliability and use. Hand paddles, drag chutes, and flippers / fins are not permitted during any warm-up at any time. VIOLATIONS: Swimmers witnessed by a Safety Marshal diving or entering the water in a dangerous fashion will be removed without warning from their first event following the warm-up period in which the violation occurred. In the case of a second offense during the same competition the swimmer will be removed from the competition in its entirety. A provincial disciplinary action or report may be filed. SAFETY MARSHALS: The Safety Marshal is a trained position designated by Meet Management. Safety Marshals shall: Be visible by safety vest Be situated at each end of the competition tank and when applicable, similarly situated in designated warm-up tanks when pre-competition warm-ups are scheduled. Actively monitor all scheduled warm-up periods. Ensure participants comply with warm-up safety procedures and report violations to the Referee. PARA-SWIMMER NOTIFICATION: Coaches are requested to notify Safety Marshals of any Para-swimmers participating in warm-ups where necessary and at the coach s discretion. The following statement must appear in all Swimming Canada sanctioned meet information and posted notices: SWIMMING CANADA WARM-UP COMPETITION SAFETY PROCEDURES WILL BE IN EFFECT AT THIS MEET. 9
