THIS 2012/2013 SEASON, THE AREA HAS 3657 SWIMMERS. THE MAIN CARNIVALS FOR THE AREA, WEST WYALONG HOSTED COUNTRY REGIONALS, LOCATION, POOL AND WEATHER WAS GREAT. THE LACK OF ENTRIES TOOK THE SHINE OFF WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN A GREAT EVENT. I THINK THIS WAS DUE TO A DOWN TURN IN THE ECONOMY. SPEEDO SPRINT HEATS AND SISA CHAMPIONSHIPS WERE HELD AT YOUNG AND RUN BY SISA, AGAIN ATTENDANCE WAS DOWN, MAY BE TO SOON AFTER COUNTRY REGIONALS, MAY BE LOCATION, MAY BE QUALIFYING TIMES SET TO HIGH. MOST SWIMMERS ONLY SWIM 4 TO 6 MONTHS OF THE YEAR, RELAX QUALIFYING TIMES AND GET MORE SWIMMERS INTO THE WATER. CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL SWIMMERS WHO REPRESENTED SISA AT SPEEDO SPRINT FINALS, COUNTRY, STATE AND BROPHY WELL DONE. THE WINTER DEVELOPMENT RAN WELL, THANKS TO BARBARA WHO PUT A LOT OF TIME AND EXPERTISE INTO THE DEVELOPMENT OF SWIMMERS. THANKS TO ALL TECHINICAL OFFICIALS FROM ALL ZONES. WITHOUT YOU PEOPLE WHO VOLUNTEER THEIR TIME SWIM MEETS WOULD NOT HAPPEN. THANK YOU, SISA COMMITTEE, KAYLEEN (SECRETARY), CHRIS (TREASURER), HELEN, PAUL, STEPHEN, MARRIE AND BARBARA. REMEMBER THE BIG PICTURE, WE ARE ALL HERE FOR THE SAME REASON THE SWIMMERS. IF ALL THREE ZONES AND COMMITTEE WORK TOGETHER THING WILL GET BETTER. SISA PRESIDENT MICHAEL DONNELLY

SOUTHERN INLAND SWIMMING ASSOCIATION INC. AREA TECHNICAL COORDINATOR REPORT 2012/13 The Area policy key performance indicators are as follows for the 3 zones:- Type Target Accreditations Total Modules Completed Referees 3 1 Starters 6 3 Other Officials Total target SISA and MPS ran a successful workshop in Bathurst with the support of Ken Jones from Technical committee. The referees and starters present gained valuable information on rule interpretations and pool deck protocols. The change in method of obtaining modules has made it easier for people in remote areas to get the information. There are quite a number of people holding the assessor credential throughout the Area and there should be no delay in getting new people assessed. Swimming NSW are alerting officials to NSW Sport & Recreation courses for presenters, assessors and mentors. It is considered that this presents the best and cost effective delivery method. SISA officials and training effectiveness was evident with our officials combining with officials from other SNSW Areas, States and Overseas. SISA volunteers were acknowledged by SAL for officiating in the Trans- Tasman Series, at Wagga Wagga in July The SISA officials worked with visiting New Zealand, South Australian and Victorian officials in the two Wagga sessions and provided the level of officiating required for this international series. The Oasis pool and staff also contributed to a successful SAL event. At SNSW Regionals in West Wyalong our officials combined with others from Coast & Valley, MPS and Metropolitan Areas. The value of having many officials trained and ready to volunteer meant that the meet was very well staffed. Both meets showed that our officials easily fitted into the required standards. The Technical Official officiating at the SISA championships and Speedo heats ensured a highly professional event. The work of Kayleen Murphy needs to be acknowledged in preparing for this meet. SISA officials were well represented at the ACT Swimming s Brophy meet and Stephen Mawbey, Kayleen Murphy, Helen Hayes and Randall Jones were appointed to SNSW Championship meets. Everyone is encouraged to aim to work at these SNSW meets in order to expand their knowledge of management of meet operations of the major meets. It is essential that the SNSW standards are embodied at local SISA meets. Referee s reports for the year indicated strong numbers of officials and the reports have led to some changes in meet formats. It is hoped that officials continue training in all roles and be prepared to work in any role at meets. The rotation of jobs is an important part of reinforcing understanding of the meet organisational process. It is also a factor in encouraging people to become involved. Credentials are best used for the promotion and expanding the number of officials and not a form of power and control. CHRIS & HELEN HAYES

South West Zone Report to SISA Inc During the quieter swimming months of the year South West Zone did manage to have swimmers & officials be involved in swimming activities. This is mainly due to the great support & effort of the parents who organise & take the swimmers to meets so they can be involved. The swimmers were involved in Swim Meets in Canberra, Sydney, Wagga & Griffith. Development Squad & Camp, The Trans-Tasman Meet & a few even completed the time keeper accreditation. We would like to thank SISA for organising the winter development for the swimmers to be involved in. The summer season started with South West Zone having teams compete at the Barellan Sprint Meet. We held 6 Qualifying & 3 Development Meets within our zone during the summer season. With both country regionals & speedo meets also being held in South West Zone it was quite a full calendar. We held our Zone AGM on the 28 th April 2013 with all people holding executive positions returned We look forward to the swimmers competing in the winter meets & development Regards Stephen Mawbey South West Zone Secretary

2013 Riverina Zone President s Report has again been a successful year for the Riverina zone. A number of the clubs trialled twilight carnivals and also moved their carnivals to earlier on in the season to reduce the bottleneck that usually occurs around February/March when school carnivals are in full swing. These strategies did increase participant numbers at most of the carnivals and also gave greater opportunity for representation of SISA clubs in general with Riverina swimmers competing at South West carnivals and South West teams competing at Riverina, therefore building on the SISA relationship. We have had a number of swimmers from the area compete at Country and State level with some swimmers competing for the first time. Congratulations to all those swimmers. Winter Country Ellie Jones (Finley), Douglas Arthur, Declan Owers (Griffith). Winter State Stephen Dalzell (Deniliquin). Summer State Nicola Dalzell, Stephen Dalzell (Deniliquin), Declan Owers, Luke Parmenter, Macy Rogerson, Brock Twigg (Griffith), Zoe Scherret (Leeton). Summer Country Max Findlay (Barellan), Nicola Dazell, Stephen Dalzell (Deniliquin), Ellie Jones (Finley), Erin Golden, Joshua Golden, Tegan Goldman, Declan Owers, Luke Parmenter, Mea Riley, Macy Rogerson, Quade Stevenson, Brock Twigg, Morgan Twigg, Isabelle Wood (Griffith), Zoe Scherret (Leeton). We also had a number of Top Ten finishes and Declan Owers and Luke Parmenter medalled at Summer Country and Nicola Dalzell medalled at the South Australian State Championships. Congratulations to these swimmers and their teams and coaches. Riverina Zone had 29 swimmers competing in the SISA team at Speedo finals in March and though not successful with medals, all performed well and a number of personal best times were gained. We sent 54 swimmers to Brophy in Canberra and the team performed well with a number of personal best times, and 12 personal and 5 relay team medals gained. Thank you to Team Managers Randall Jones and Rachel Wood, and Team Coach Katrina Goldman for their hard work and smooth running. Thank you to Craig Tilston and Penny Jones for nominating to officiate and to those parents who assisted with time keeping and for just getting their children to the meet. There was a great team spirit and the SISA official s shirts looked great around the pool. Barb Blondinau did a fabulous job with the Development Squad for the SISA region last year including a camp at Borambala which was well attended. With teething problems and lessons learnt from last year it can only get better this year and I encourage all eligible swimmers to try and attend to gain valuable knowledge in improving their abilities. We have a couple of long standing records broken this year and a number close but just not there. Congratulations to Declan Owers, Luke Parmenter and Macy Rogerson all from Griffith in setting new benchmarks in both short and long course times. Luke broke at 1983 record of Kirk Donaldson s in the 10 years and under short course 200m individual medley. And a couple of Nathaniel Romeo s times have been broken. Thank you to all clubs for their hard work this year to ensure the maximum benefits are given to our swimmers. Continue to do a great job. Thank you to all of the officials that have participated at the various events. There were very successful Recording and Meet Manager workshops held in Griffith last year and I thank Chris Hayes,

Felicity Palmer and Cherry Smith for conducting them. I encourage all clubs to take the opportunity to send at least one committee member to these training days to update the knowledge of members to ensure our swimmers gain the benefits. The SISA AGM will be held in Wagga Wagga on Sunday 2 nd June at 10.00am at the Mater Dei Multi- Purpose Hall. Delegates are asked to complete the forms to enable voting rights. Yours in swimming Marrie Mott President, 11 th May Riverina Brophy Team Report 2013

The four clubs in the Murray Zone enjoyed a healthy year maintaining numbers. There was an exodus of several small clubs who did not rejoin their membership with SISA and it is our challenge to make our association relevant to these clubs. The four remaining clubs had an active Summer season, competing most weekends at meets provided through our association with the Ovens and Murray Swimming Association and through our proximity to Victorian based Championships. Both the Albury and Albury North Lavington clubs staged successful open meets with large numbers competing. Unfortunately, the dates of major Ovens and Murray and Victorian Championship meets clashed with SISA staged events and we were unable to attract many swimmers to travel to these SISA events. The Winter season involves a lesser number of competitors and it is hoped that they will again be able to travel to Griffith to compete in the SISA short course championships. Our challenge for 2013/14 is to work with both associations and try to improve the co-ordination of events so that our swimmers are attracted to compete at more SISA meets. Whilst the SISA meets involve significantly more travel than the locally staged meets, we have a core group of keen and talented swimmers who would like to participate in the SISA activities if we can make it more accessible from a scheduling point of view.
