No swimmer will be permitted to compete unless the swimmer is a member as provided in USA Swimming Rulebook Article 302. This meet will be run according to current USA Swimming rules and regulations. Swimmers age will be determined as of June 14, 2017 for the Invitational. Senior events open to all swimmers. No deck registration will be accepted; swimmers must be registered at time of entry.

2 Entry Limits, Fees and Deadlines: Due to the number of swimmers expected, the Cottonwood Heights Invitational will be limited to approximately the first 250 swimmers to enter not including Cottonwood Heights Aquatics Team. Teams, however, will not be split up (this pertains only to entries received at the same time while still under the cap of the respective meet). Once the cap has been met, additional entries may be accepted upon Meet Director approval based upon the time line. Entries will be accepted beginning May 1, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. All entries must be received no later than Tuesday, May 30, All entries will be subject to the meet entry limit--regardless if they are received prior to the entry deadline. All swimmers may enter/compete in 3 events per day, not to exceed a total of 8 individual events. No Times (NT s) will not be accepted. Swimmers age 10-under who are already entered in the meet, may enter 2 bonus events in which they do not meet the qualifying time. These events must be entered in the 10-under age group and may not exceed the 8 event limit. Please mark these entries as bonus. $5.00 per event entered plus $10.00 per swimmer surcharge. Teams from out of state are recommended to contact the meet director prior to making travel arrangements to make sure their entries have been accepted under the meet entry cap. Mail entries with fees to: Cottonwood Heights Invitational ( chatinvitational@hotmail.com) c/o Cottonwood Heights Aquatics 7500 South 2700 East Cottonwood Heights, Utah Entry Rules: All entries must be submitted on the enclosed entry form or Hy-Tek compatible file. Verification of entry times (place and date) must be submitted on the form, or a signed hard copy of entries from Team Manager. Time verification will be in effect. All swimmers may enter/compete in 3 events per day, not to exceed a total of 8 individual events. Converted times (SCY/SCM) may be used for entry. No Times (NT s) will not be accepted. Incorrect entries will be returned and subject to the entry deadline upon correction of the problems. Entries will not be accepted unless the Team Information sheet is filled out completely! Whether entries are submitted electronically or on paper, by the action of entering the swimmer in the meet the submitter, whether the swimmer, coach, parent or team representative, certifies that the swimmer is a registered member of USA Swimming and that all times stated in/on the entry are true and correct. The submitter further assumes responsibility for any false or incorrect times, and understands that all listed entry times are subject to Utah Swimming Time Verification Procedures, and that a fine of $20.00 shall be paid to Utah Swimming, Inc. for each incorrect time, unless corrected before the entry deadline. It is understood that an automatic call before the review section shall be the result for a third entry time that cannot be verified. The submitter further agrees that a penalty of $ shall be assessed to anyone entering a swimmer in a meet sanctioned by Utah Swimming, Inc. who is not registered with USA Swimming at the time of entry upon it being proved that the swimmer was not so registered. Meet Format, Check-in and Scratches A mandatory scratch down may apply to this meet if the time line exceeds 4 hours for 12-Under swimmers, subject to the provisions of USA Swimming Rules and Regulations F. If a scratch down is necessary, teams will be reimbursed for said scratched events. This meet will be prelims and finals for all age groups, including 10-under swimmers. There will be a championship and consolation heat in finals for the 11-12, and Senior age groups. For the 10-under age group, there will only be a championship final. Warm-up for prelims will be at 7:00 am. The meet begins at 8:00 a.m. Finals will begin at 6:00 p.m. with warm-up at 5:00 p.m. Positive check in for the 1500 only, all other events do not require a positive check in. A scratch box will be provided which will close at one half hour after the start of the final session, the night prior to the events being swum. See Utah Scratch Procedures below for more information. Time trials will NOT be offered. Warm-up for the 1500 s on Wednesday will be at 5:30 p.m. with the meet beginning at 6:15 p.m. A "positive check in" is required for the 1500 Free, which will close at 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Swimmers failing to check in by the designated time for the 1500 free will not be allowed to swim that event. Events 1 and 3 will be seeded and swum combined. Events 2 and 4 will be seeded and swum combined. The 1500 free will be swum fastest to slowest, alternating girls and boys, until all participants who have checked in have competed.

3 Swimmers participating in individual events 400 meters or longer must supply their own timers for those events ( Free, Free, I.M., Senior 400 Free, and 1500 Free). Warm-up: Utah Swimming Championship Meet Scratch Procedure.1 For Championship Meets and Prelims/Finals Meets A. The scratch box will be located at the Clerk of the Course. The scratch box shall close for the following day s events 30 minutes after the beginning of the final session each day. In a meet that begins with a timed final session on the first day, the scratch box for the next day s events will close 30 minutes after the start of that timed final session..3 Penalties for Preliminary Swims in a Championship Meet A. If a swimmer fails to scratch properly and doesn t report to the block to swim, that swimmer will be disqualified from that event and scratched from the next individual preliminary event for which he/she is entered. If a swimmer misses a second event, he/she will be barred from further individual competition for the remainder of the meet. They shall still be eligible to compete and score points for the team in relay events. Upon request and approval of the Meet Referee, any barred swimmer can be re-entered into the meet and reseeded with a NT into the first heat of his/her remaining events. Said swimmer will present himself/herself to the meet referee and declare his/her intent to swim, to be allowed to swim for time only and will not be eligible to advance to Championship, consolation or bonus final heats or score points in individual events for themselves or for the club. B. Declared false starts are allowed in prelim swims. Delay of the meet penalties may be used in prelims at the discretion of the meet referee to protect the swimmer..4 Penalties for Championship, Consolation or Bonus Final Heats A. A swimmer qualifying for either Consolation/Bonus Finals or Championship Finals has 30 minutes after the time of the announcement of the qualifiers of each individual event to scratch. The Consolation/Bonus or the championship heats will then be seeded by inserting alternates, thus filling all the lanes. Any swimmer qualifying for a Championship, Consolation or Bonus final heat who fails to compete in that event will be disqualified from that event and scratched from the next individual prelim event for which he/she is entered. If a swimmer misses a second event, he/she will be barred from further individual competition for the remainder of the meet. The fine may be paid by the club or swimmer. C. Declared false starts or deliberate Delay of the Meet Penalties are not allowed for Championship, Consolation or Bonus Finals..5 Results A. Results from a preliminary competition are not the same as a finals seeding posting. Any swimmer that may move into a finals seeding position as a result of scratches within the 30 minute time period is subject to all penalties as listed. Alternates as posted in the finals seeding are not subject to any penalty. The Administrative Referee (or designee) shall make every effort to contact swimmers (or their coaches) who are entered into Consolation, or Final Heats because of scratches. However, swimmers and their coaches have the ultimate responsibility to be aware of whether they are qualified in an evening finals heat. USA Swimming and Utah Swimming safety procedures will be enforced throughout the meet. Warmups are subject to the following procedures: Warm-up: Coaches have the responsibility of ensuring that all their swimmers are instructed in warm-up procedures and that the swimmers follow all Utah Swimming safety procedures. All swimmers will enter the pool from a sitting or 3-point position. No pushing, splashing, running or any other general horseplay. Swimmers engaging in such activities will be asked to leave the pool. All USA Swimming athletes must be under the supervision of a USA Swimming member coach during warm-up, competition, and warm-down. The Meet Director or Meet Referee may assist unaccompanied swimmers in making arrangements for such supervision, but it is the swimmer s responsibility to make such arrangements prior to the start of the meet All lanes will be general warm-up until the final 20 minutes of warm-up at which time lanes 2 and 7 will be for one way racing starts.

4 Dive Certification: Restrictions: Any swimmer entered in the meet must be certified by a USA Swimming member-coach as being proficient in performing a racing start or must start each race from within the water. When unaccompanied by a member-coach, it is the responsibility of the swimmer or the swimmer s legal guardian to ensure compliance with this requirement D Deck changes are prohibited I Use of audio or visual recording devices, including a cell phone, is not permitted in changing areas, rest rooms or locker rooms H and Article Operation of a drone, or any other flying apparatus, is prohibited over the venue (pools, athlete/coach areas, spectator areas and open ceiling locker rooms) any time athletes, coaches, officials and/or spectators are present J 2 piece (bikini type) swim suits will not be allowed in the competition or warm up pools. If they are covering a legal competition swim suit, they will be allowed. Sale and use of alcoholic beverages is prohibited in all areas of the meet venue. Smoking and the use of other tobacco products is prohibited on the pool deck, in the locker rooms, in spectator seating, in standing areas and in all areas used by athletes during the meet and during warm up periods. Adaptive Swimming Adaptive swimming: In accordance with USA Swimming Rulebook & Article 105.1, the Meet Referee has the authority to accommodate swimmers with disabilities in accordance with USI P&P The coach or person in charge of team entries must notify the meet referee and meet entry contact of accommodations requests at the time of entry submission. Scoring: Awards: Results: Deck access: Officials: Individual event scoring will be for the finals heat, and for the consolation heat. Points scored in Senior events will only count toward Senior high point and team scoring. Custom medals 1st-3rd for individual events. Ribbons 4 th -8 th for individual events. Custom high-point awards 1 st -3 rd, male and female, in each age group. 1st-3rd High-point Teams combined male and female. Final Results will be available on the Utah Swimming web site in a (HTML) printable format and in a downloadable Team Manager (Cfile.zip) format. Results will not be mailed. Deck access is limited to swimmers, coaches, officials & meet workers. Officials and coaches must wear their USA Swimming ID cards to be allowed on deck. Officials swimmer s entrance fee will be waived. Please let us know who will be available to officiate so the entrance fees can be deducted. Hospitality: Timers: Parking: Web Site: All applicants must attend a mandatory officials briefing to be held one hour before the start of each session that they will be officiating. The official's uniform will be a white polo shirt and khaki pants/skirt with white deck friendly shoes and socks. Khaki shorts/skorts may be worn during Prelims; wearing them during Finals will only be allowed at the direction of the Meet Referee. Available for coaches and officials. All teams with 10 or more swimmers in a particular session will be required to provide two (2) timers to be available. Lanes will be assigned as needed and assignments will be ed out prior to the start of the meet. Teams with fewer than 10 swimmers may be asked to provide one (1) timer.
