3 Rockingham County PopulaEon 92,000 spread across 700 square miles North of Greensboro on the VA line 60% rural 40% live 6 small municipaliees #77 out of 100 in the Wood FoundaEon Health Index 4 middle and high schools, 15 elementary schools serve 12,000 school age children 50 % are eligible for free lunch

18 Town Partnerships Each town is unique - Ø Size Ø Demographics Ø Approach to community from Park & Recs Department Each town has very different level of commitment to tennis Ø Cary embraces tennis and has a premiere tennis facility Ø Fuquay- Varina has few courts and limited programming Ø Other towns are becoming more commiked to tennis

19 Developing Town Partnerships Ø Understand that it isn t going to go as quickly as you would like be paeent Ø Be paeently persistent Ø Determine ways to make it easy for the towns to run programs to get started Ø Explain benefits of tennis for their community Ø Make them look good Ø Look for ways to support them then make it easy on them
