3 NERVA Boy s HP Tryouts Friday, January 11 th 6pm 9pm Site: CT Convention Center, Hartford CT Possible 2 nd tryout on the Thursday before Boston Festival This would be combined with USAV HP tryout. If we do not have enough players at these tryouts to field a team, we will not be sending an NERVA HP to this year s USAV HP Championships.

Additional 1 day tournaments (12/15 12/16, 1/5 1/6, 1/26 1/27, 2/16, 2/17, 3/2, 3/10)

5 Meeting discussion notes: Boston Festival, 18 s will start on Friday night, s will start Saturday morning. Sarah s Report: We may need 20 court every weekend based on the survey sent out. 7 courts for 18 s 5 courts for 17 s 5 courts for 16 s 2-3 courts for under 16 s Would like to offer 5 dates for the boys, just like the girls. NERVA Championships (March 9 th is a SAT s date) 5 weekends should work for everyone after looking at SAT s, state vacations, out of state tournaments etc. Maine is planning on having a Boys team. Dates: Dec 15&16, Jan 5&6 (15 Worcester) Jan 26&27 (15 Worcester), Feb 16&17,March 2 and March 10 (If you have contract at a facility, please let Sarah know)

6 Talked about conflict with winter sports. Run younger ages on SAT dates/ Saturday Would we rather have less large 2-day boys only tournaments or more 1 day small tournaments? Ranking options Finance question, cost of one day NERVA tournaments will be $250

7 Additional tournaments Once your tournament is approved it will be listed on sportwrench All teams will register and can pay entry fee on sportwrench If you are running the tournament, you are responsible for site and TD. NERVA will assign the refs. The club running the tournament will receive a check from NERVA. All entry fees collected minus $200 per ref. NERVA will pay all refs.

11 NERVA Jr. Assembly Voting Rules NERVA Junior Division Operating Code Section Attend the Board of Directors Meetings. Mandatory meetings will be held on a Monday in June and a Sunday at the end of October or beginning of November each year and announced on the To be a voting member of the NERVA Junior Division Board of Directors, a club must consist of two (2) or more teams and be a club in good standing with the region. 4. 18 U11 Tournaments Gators Saturday March 9 Dragons Saturday in April TBD No entry fee/ co-ed/ NERVA tee shirts Meeting notes: Players can use the league membership of $10 to play at these events (this membership is not upgradeable) This lead to discussion about adding a tryout membership. We will work of a way to have a membership that is a less expensive for those players that get cut. One issue is this membership would not be upgradeable. If a player than made a club team they would have to pay the full membership. (we will look at an option for next season)

28 Proposal: to add a U12 B division ( Frank Garder Gators) Add Tripleball Rules in the NERVA Juniors Operating Code for U12-B division. Under this proposal, The 12-A division would continue to use our current NERVA 12 rules.

29 Benefits: Tripleball maximizes the potential for rallies for our youngest, least-experienced athletes. More game like play and longer rallies leads to faster development of reading and all-around volleyball skills. It also decreases the potential for one strong server to dominate a match.

30 Precedent: Volleyball Canada uses Tripleball rules for all competition U13 and younger. NERVA has also used this format for the U11 tournaments the past two years.

31 Rules: The game follows a sequence of three rallies: service, tossed ball 1, tossed ball 2. (1st rally-introduced by server, 2nd rally-tossed ball to position 6 on receiving team, 3rd rally-tossed ball to position 6 on serving team) The service rotates between teams after each three-ball sequence. A team must rotate and introduce a new server when it is their turn to serve. Every ball introduced is worth one point. Timeouts cannot occur during a 3-ball sequence. Athletes must play the tossed ball with a forearm pass, otherwise a replay will occur. All other standard volleyball rules not listed above continue to apply.

33 Guidelines for Tossers: Balls are tossed underhand and above the height of the antennae to the player in position 6. The free ball must be tossed directly to the athlete in position six, otherwise a replay will occur. The Tosser should step into the court to introduce the ball but must immediately move a safe distance away from the court after the toss. The free ball will be introduced when the front row players are at the net and ready to transition. The Tosser verbally cues the athletes by calling Free Ball. Tossers encourage a fast paced transition between an end of a rally and the next toss. The Head Coach, Assistant Coach or a competent volunteer may be the Tosser and introduce balls to their own team.

36 TEAM REGISTRATION FOR NERVA SERIES Clubs will enter all teams playing in these tournaments on sportwrench. You can list all 5 dates at same level You can remove teams up to 48 hours before tournament. Club Level Teams that drop after tournaments have closed will be charged a $25 fee. Club Level Teams that are a no show on tournament date will be charged a $50 fee.

37 Sportwrench Use All teams playing in a NERVA tournament will need to be registered on Sportwrench by 2/1/19. All tournaments (Open + Club) will be on Sportwrench just after the announcement of the final schedule. All results, from each match, will be put onto Sportwrench, preferably while the tournament is running. This can be done by computer on site, or if no internet access, by phone. Meeting Notes: Reporting can be done LIVE. All tournament results will be entered on sportwrench. If your team is entered in the qualifiers enter them is OPEN on sportwrench. All club level teams should be entered at the same level on all dates. Adjustments will be made after the results have been posted.

38 Open level tournament in NERVA Series Open tournament fees for missing Teams Any team listed to play an open level tournament that drops after the final schedule has been posted, or does not show will: Forfeit the open entry fee ($175 or current cost), Missing team/s will be assessed an additional $350 penalty fee, (Current cost of missing an Open tournament after the final schedule has been posted is a total of $525) The Jr. Commissioner or Girls Coordinator can waive entry or penalty fee if reason for missing is deemed unavoidable or unusual College visits, family vacations, OOR tournaments are deemed avoidable from an administrative viewpoint.

39 You do not have to enter team rosters on SportWrench. We are still requiring teams to bring a paper copy of their webpoint roster to all NERVA Series tournaments. You will be able to pay open level tournament fees on SportWrench. In order for a team to play on Championship Date (May 5 th ) ALL tournaments fees must be paid in full by April 20 th.

42 All Club Level tournaments AAA - C All club level tournaments will run Consolation and Championship brackets. All playoffs (semis + Finals) will be 1 set 25 points. All Club level tournaments will play for 3 rd and 7 th place. This means after a semi-final has been played there will be a one-set match between the teams losing in the semis.
