The two teams split their games last year, with the road-team winning the day on both occasions. The Cougars hosted the Tribe earlier in the season, and thanks to a monster night from Breanna Bolden (4-5 with 3 Stl and Blk), the Cougars were able to defeat William & Mary Scouting the Huskies - The Tribe went 5-5 overall and 6- in conference play last season. They went to the CAA Tournament as the 7th seed, but were upset in the opening round 7-65 by No. 0 seed Towson. - William & Mary looked unstoppable at the conclusion of their non-conference slate, which saw them at 0- overall heading into CAA competition. Since then however, the Tribe has lost more games than they've won, and find themselves in the middle of the pack. They've split their last six games 3-3, and come off a win at home against Towson. - The Tribe are led by Alexandra Masaquel, who averages a -8 with two steals, and routinely gives the Cougars problems whenever they meet. Marlena Tremba leads the team in scoring at 3.7 points per game, while Abby Rendle remains a Top 5 shot blocker in the country (85 Blks) even after assuming a reserve role for the Tribe over the past six games.

3 Cougars Conquer Tribe s -Game Streak in Win CHARLESTON, S.C. William and Mary (-, -) came into TD Arena looking to extend its winning streak to games Friday, but the College of Charleston women's basketball team (4-9, -) had other plans as the Cougars bounced back from a rough first quarter to hand the Tribe their first loss since their season opener. The Cougars started slow out the gates, allowing the Tribe to push the lead as high as ten points before the end of the first quarter. But the Cougars fought back in the second in a big way, outscoring the Tribe 4- in the frame. Breanna Bolden was the catalyst for the CofC comeback, leading all players with 8 points at half while adding four boards and three steals. The senior guard finished with a monster double-double Last Time... The Cougars outscored the Tribe by three in the third frame, and did a good job closing the door on any possible comeback hopes of William & Mary by pushing the lead to a game-high 4 points with six minutes to play in the game. Brianna Boyd's five straight points over the course of a two and a half minute span saw to that, as the redshirt junior finished with 3 points, eight boards, and a career-high four blocks. Tanisha Brown finished with points and seven rebounds, chipping in a block and a steal. Darien Huff was the other Cougar in double-digits with 3 points, and contributed a dagger-three with four minutes to go in regulation to end a mini-w&m run. The Cougars won the night by earning 3 more opportunities from the free throw line than their counterparts, going 5 of 7 from the stripe. They also won the rebounding battle, pulling down a season-high 48 to the Tribe's 36. On an individual level, W&M's Alexandra Masaquel had an outstanding game in defeat, scoring 4 points on of shooting to go with her game-high 7 boards. "I saw a tremendous effort from start to finish, and even though we didn't have the best start, we made good defensive adjustments through the rest of the game," head coach Candice M. Jackson said. "Everybody who played contributed in some form or fashion, and it was an all-around good team effort." The Cougars will look for a repeat performance this Sunday at p.m., when they continue their 3-game home-stand and host UNCW (5-8, 0-). 3

19 Head Coach Since taking the helm of the College of Charleston women s basketball program on April, 4, 04, Candice M. Jackson has done a remarkable job at setting the program on a winning trajectory. Jackson inherits the mantle looking to build on the foundations for success set forth by former coaching greats at The College in former Tennessee Director of Women s Athletics Joan Cronan (974-76), Nancy Wilson (two tenures from and 003-), Scooter Barnette (984-94), Kathy McCaskill-Rhein (994-98), Melissa Slone ( ) and Natasha Adair (0-4). In 05-6, the native of Lansing, Mich. more than doubled her win total from year one, going -0 overall and 5-3 in conference action. She secured her first-ever CAA Tournament victory by way of a 7-6 win over the UNCW Seahawks, and came within 67 seconds of shocking the No. seeded James Madison Dukes in the second round. She is responsible for coaching two-time CAA Defensive Player of the Year Breanna Bolden, who achieved All-Conference acclaim during both years of Jackson s tenure. Prior to the end of the season, Coach Jackson led the Cougars to a 68-4 win over UNCW, which set the all-time CofC record for fewest points allowed in a game. Candice M.
