FOR FASTEST SIGN-UP, FAX BY NOV. 30, 2016 TO: (562) Or mail to: St. Paul High School March For Hunger, 9635 Greenleaf Ave., Santa Fe Springs, CA March for Hunger St. Paul High School Parent / Alumni Participation Agreement I parent/alumni (print name) will participate in the field trip to support the March for Hunger on Sunday, December 6, The educational purpose of the March for Hunger event is as follows: 1) to encourage in sharing the responsibility to help the less fortunate in our community and 2) to empower all in actively working toward social justice by contributing their time, energies and talents to improving the quality of life for all. I will cooperate and follow directions and instructions of the supervisory personnel in charge of the field trip. (All participants must be dressed according to school policy.) Means of Transportation: Chartered Bus-Richmond Bus Co. /Durham Pledge: $65.00-This covers bus transportation, donation to Los Angeles Catholic Worker, and a March for Hunger T- Shirt. I agree to participate in the above field trip. As a condition of being allowed to do so I hereby release and discharge the school from any and all claims for personal injuries or property damage that I may suffer as a result of participation in the field trip described. Should it be necessary for me to have medical treatment while participating in this trip, I hereby give the school personnel permission to use their judgment in obtaining medical service and I give permission to the physician selected by the school personnel to render medical treatment deemed necessary and appropriate by the physician. I agree to relieve the school and the other participating adults from any liability in connection with this request. 4 Don t Remember How This Works? Read Up! Date and Place: Sunday, December 6, 2016 all participants are required to attend mass in the St. Paul High School Gym. The Mass will begin at 6:00a.m. All parents, alumni and students are required to check in before mass begins. MARCH FOR HUNGER T-shirts will be given to parents and alumni at check-in. After the Mass, all participants will go directly to assigned buses. A second roll call will be taken outside your bus. You will be given your Parent/Alumni Participation Agreement at this time and it must be carried with you throughout the day. You will also be given a map of the route. Please carry both with you at all times. The buses will leave approximately by 7:15 a.m. for Salazar Park in East L.A. Clothing to Wear: You should carry with you a sweater or sweatshirt at all times. Never have a driver who is patrolling the route carry your personal belongings. It will be nearly impossible to meet up with that car, later in the day. As we travel closer to the ocean, the weather becomes quite unpredictable. The last five miles before the beach are usually cold, windy, and damp. So be prepared for all types of weather, including rain. Prevent Foot Blisters: Purchase blister free socks at almost any sports store. Fuel for Walking: Bring enough cash for snacks or meals along the way. On average this event will take about 12 hours. A person will need sufficient food and liquids for the long haul. Safety Note: Follow the map. Always walk in a group of three or more. Don t fall behind. You must reach the San Diego Freeway by 6:00 p.m. or be picked up and driven the rest of the way to Ocean Blvd. If you get too tired, wave down one of the official cars (St. Paul Sign on the door of the vehicle). This person will drive you to Ocean Blvd in Santa Monica. Don t feel defeated. You should be proud of your participation in helping to feed the poor and homeless, regardless of how far you go.

5 Yes, We Have Rules! Major points that must be strictly followed for a safe and sane March For Hunger: 1. PARTICIPANTS ARE NOT TO RIDE TO SALAZAR PARK IN THEIR OWN CARS. 2. PARTICIPANTS ARE TO WALK IN GROUPS OF THREE OR MORE AND ARE INSTRUCTED TO KEEP UP. 3. MAP DIRECTIONS MUST BE CAREFULLY FOLLOWED. 4. JAYWALKING IS FORBIDDEN. PARTICIPANTS ARE TO STAY ON THE SIDEWALK AT ALL TIMES AND ONLY CROSS AT CROSSWALKS. WALKING IN THE STREET IS FORBIDDEN. 5. PARTICIPANTS ARE TO FOLLOW BASIC PEDESTRIAN LAWS REGARDING TRAFFIC LIGHTS AND TRAFFIC SIGNS. 6. PARTICIPANTS ARE TO RIDE IN AUTHORIZED VEHICLES ONLY (MARKED BY A ST. PAUL SIGN ON THE DOOR OF VEHICLE) PARTICIPANTS ARE NOT TO BE PICKED UP ALONG THE ROUTE BY FRIENDS, SPOUSES OR OTHER ALUMNI WHO ARE NOT AUTHORIZED TO PATROL THE ROUTE. 7. PARTICIPANTS WHO CANNOT CONTINUE ON THE WALK ARE TO WAVE DOWN AUTHORIZED VEHICLES PATROLING THE ROUTE. PARTICIPANTS WILL BE DRIVEN TO OCEAN BLVD/ARIZONA ST. OR DROPPED OFF AT A SUITABLE DISTANCE FROM OCEAN BLVD. 8. PARTICIPANTS SHOULD KEEP SWEATERS, JACKETS AND OTHER BELONGINGS WITH THEM THROUGHOUT THE WALK. DO NOT LEAVE BELONGINGS IN CARS PATROLLING THE ROUTE. 9. ANY PARTICIPANT WHO BEGINS THE WALK MUST END THE WALK AT THE DESIGNATED CHECK-IN TABLE, AT OCEAN BLVD./ARIZONA ST. IN SANTA MONICA.

6 10. WHEN PARTICIPANTS ARRIVE AT WILSHIRE BLVD., THEY MUST WALK ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE STREET. PARTICIPANTS MUST REACH THE SAN DIEGO FWY BY 6:00 P.M. OR BE PICKED UP AND DRIVEN THE REST OF THE WAY TO THE BEACH. 11. ONCE PARTICIPANTS HAVE REACHED OCEAN BLVD. / ARIZONA ST., THEY ARE TO IMMEDIATELY CHECK IN WITH THE PEOPLE IN CHARGE AND THEN GO DIRECTLY TO THE BUS THAT IS BEING FILLED AND TAKE A SEAT. WHEN THE BUS IS FULL, IT WILL PROCEED DIRECTLY BACK TO ST. PAUL HIGH SCHOOL. 12. PARTICIPANTS WILL ENJOY FOOD AND MUSIC ONCE THEY ARRIVE BACK AT ST. PAUL HIGH SCHOOL. Questions?
