2 1. Header 1.1. Name The name of this policy is the AFDA National Championships Eligibility Policy 1.2. Date This policy was enacted on the 25th April Revised 8 June Reviewed 20 September Reviewed 7 November Revised 18 January Revised 30 July Aim & Scope The aim of this policy is to govern the eligibility of teams and players to participate in any National Championship To ensure a consistency of rosters between qualification events and National Championships To ensure that teams that qualify for National Championships are at least as strong as they were at qualification events To allow players whose team does not qualify for National Championships to try to compete at them with a different team, thus ensuring that all of the top elite players in Australia may be present at National Championships, and encouraging those players to be able to compete with developing teams at qualification events without penalty To recognise that larger rosters are required at National Championships than at qualification events 1.4. Definitions The Standard Definitions of the AFDA Operational Policy apply National Championships shall mean any of the following: Australian Ultimate Championships Australian Ultimate Championships Division II Australian Mixed Ultimate Championships Australian Mixed Ultimate Championships Division II Australian Beach Ultimate Championships Australian Indoor Ultimate Championships Australian Masters Ultimate Championships The Host is the organisation responsible for the administration of the tournament A team is a group of players entered as a team in a tournament A club is a collection of players from which teams are formed and entered into tournaments A club member is a player who meets the criteria set out below to be regarded as a member of a specified club.

3 1.5. Revision This Policy is to be maintained and reviewed by the Director of Events in consultation with the AFDA National Events Manager and the AFDA board. 2. Clubs 2.1. A club is a group of people who are incorporated as a Club or are affiliated with their State Association A club may have one or more teams at any point in time To constitute a club of more than one team the teams must: Have a common administration and management and/or have collective training sessions, Allow player movement between teams, Have similar names and/or similar uniforms A current member of a club is defined as someone who has either: played with the club in at least one (1) tournament in the six (6) months prior to the National Championship, or trains regularly or plays league with the club team Clubs may apply to the AFDA National Events Manager to swap up to 2 players of equal strength between qualification tournaments and Championship tournaments for the following reasons: To allow promotion and demotion of cusp players in an A/B team structure To allow fine-tuning of teams which are meant to be of equal strength. 3. Tournament Rosters 3.1. Qualification Tournaments (Regionals) Only one qualification event will be held in each zone/region Players may only register on one team across qualification events for a Championship Players do not need to be current club members to register for a team from that club. In fact playing for a team from the club at a qualification event will qualify the player as a current club member Championship Tournaments All players on a team competing at National Championships must be a current club member with the following exceptions allowed: Open & Women s Championships: 1 player Mixed Nationals: 1 Male and 1 Female player For Division Ievents, a player must play with the same team they played with for the qualification event if that team attends the Championships (with the exception of 2.3) AUC Division II playing rosters cannot contain players from AUC D1 qualified teams. AMUC Division II playing rosters cannot contain players from AMUC D1 qualified teams If the team a person plays on for the qualification event fails to qualify or chooses not to attend the Championship that player may play any other team from the region/zone they live in. In this situation that player will be deemed as a current club member for the purposes of the Championship.

4 3.3. Junior Players To compete at any of the National Championships under 1.4.2, a player must be 15 years of age or older at the commencement of the Championship Players that are still considered minors, that is aged between 15 and 18 years at the time of the tournament must have a nominated chaperone for the tournament. This person can be either a player or non-player. If they are a non-player they must be registered as a guest of the tournament Teams with Junior players on their roster MUST 14 days prior to the event submit a Junior Consent Form to the National Events Manager. (This MUST include the name of the chaperone for the Junior player) The Junior Consent Form is available on the Championship Webpage and is required to be completed for registration Failure to comply with will result in: $500 Team fine Removal of Junior Player from Team Roster Child Protection Legislation In accordance with the AFDA Member Protection Policy which is binding on ALL members of the AFDA, including all Managers, Coaches and support staff who have contact with children under the age of eighteen years must comply with relevant State Legislative requirements Minimum Roster Size a-side Events For Championship Tournaments (more than 2 days in duration) fourteen (14) players For Championship Tournaments (1-2 days in duration) twelve (12) players For Mixed Championship Tournaments a minimum of six (6) of each sex a-side Events For Championship Tournaments (more than 2 days in duration) twelve (12) players For Championship Tournaments (1-2 days in duration) ten (10) players For Mixed Championship Tournaments a minimum of five (5) of each sex 3.5. Rulings The AFDA National Events Manager shall rule on all eligibility definitions and issues Communication It is the responsibility of each team to be aware of this Policy Each team wishing to compete in a Championship must meet the registration requirements to be deemed eligible Roster changes must immediately be brought to the attention of the National Events Manager Rules All national events will be played under the current WFDF Rules of Ultimate All players competing at a National Championships must be advanced rules accredited.

5 4. Alterations 4.1. Policy review decisions will be recommended by the Director of Events and the AFDA National Events Manager and approved by the AFDA Board Operational decisions and event issues will be overseen by the appointed event specific Tournament Rules Committee to be made up of no less that three of the following; AFDA National Events Manager, Tournament Director, Game Support Manager, Spirit of the Game Director, any present AFDA board member, any present AFDA employee.
