1 2013 International Edition - December 2013 GREAT BRITAIN Embarking on new challenges SINGAPORE Following their rookie season in 2012, Britain s only MotoGP World Championship team delivered a mixed set of results throughout this year s racing season. On board the FUCHS Silkolene sponsored Aprilia powered PBM bike, British rider Michael Laverty raked up 14 top 20 finishes. Laverty s best result came in the 3 rd round of the 18 round championship at the Spanish Grand Prix Circuit of Jerez, finishing in 13 th place bringing home three points for the team. Paul Bird, the team owner, looks forward to what the series holds in 2014 and agrees that the team is ready to step up a level and is hoping to make an exciting announcement regarding their participation in the race series very soon. EDGE Racing Team, winning potential Event Organiser Zero to Hundred hosted the second instalment of the biannual Time to Attack event at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia in November. More than 150 drivers with impressive talents came from both Singapore and Malaysia and engaged in this exciting race. EDGE Racing Team finished 3 rd in the Time Attack Machine Class 2,000cc with their Subaru WRX STi and the pilot Ken Hooi. 2 GERMANY A victorious year for Daniel Spiller Max Dilger Daniel Spiller At an age of only 15, Daniel Spiller has taken control of his sport career. Accompanied and supported by his father and team manager Graham Spiller, he has been racing since In 2006, FUCHS began to sponsor the young rider. In 2013, he was the supreme winner of the FIM 250 Speedway Gold Trophy, finishing first in nine out of ten races and coming in second in the tenth race. Thanks to his talent, his iron discipline and hard work he could win all those races and beat his opponents. On the occasion of the DMV Champions Laureate in Langen, Hesse, on November 23, 2013, his achievements were honored by René Schäfer, Competitive Sport Commissioner and team manager Speedway of the DMSB who awarded him the trophy for the best DMV Junior in For several months now, Daniel Spiller has been facing a new challenge: he races 500cc bikes. On unknown race tracks he competes against top class competitors. His agenda for 2014 is already filled with races all over Europe. FUCHS is proud to be part of the career of this young talent! GERMANY Awards for Max Dilger Professional speedway rider Max Dilger was elected Rider of the Year The rider, who is sponsored by FUCHS, was plagued by injuries during the 2013 season but could contribute to the victory of Team Germany at the Speedway Pair European Championship. The award Rider of the Year is a great honor for me, especially when I look back on who was awarded by the DMV in previous years, explains Max Dilger. Therefore, he insisted on personally attending the laureate and receiving the trophy in Langen. Max Dilger took it as a special honor to show his colors amidst MotoGP and Formula 1. It is wonderful that my performance and my career sparked the interest of the DMV Board. Being among the candidates proves that not only prestigious motor sports but also niche sports, such as Speedway receive attention.

3 DIRK STRYDOM SOUTH OF AFRICA An excellent performance for the Force Fuel Toyota Team It was a day of surprises in the Production Vehicle qualifying race at the Atlas Copco Gold 400, the final round of the Donaldson Cross Country Championship. Force Fuel Toyota pair Luke Botha and Jason Rathbone* (a colleague from FUCHS LU- BRICANTS (S.A.) PTY. LTD) came up with the biggest surprise of the season when they upstaged a host of more fancied teams to win the qualifying race by the narrowest of margins. Botha and Rathbone were just one second ahead of Richard Fuller and Andre Vermeulen (BMW X3), with Dakar Rally quad hero Sarel van Biljon and Philip Herselman a further eight seconds off the pace in the Atlas Copco Toyota Hilux. *Jason Rathbone races in the Motocross series MX SUPPORT Enduro South Africa (See FUCHS Motorsport News of October) Adding to the surprise element is the fact that Rathbone is making his debut on this event. After a run of two loops of 170 km, Luke Botha and Jason Rathbone won a brilliant ninth place overall. We beat all Nissan factory Dakar teams", Jason exclaims enthusiastically. 4 USA Brad Baker Wins AMA Pro Flat Track Coveted National #1 Plate FUCHS Silkolene sponsored Brad Baker (Dodge Bros-Schenk Racing/Harley-Davidson) capped off his remarkable AMA Pro Flat Track season under the lights at the Los Angeles County Fairplex in Pomona, California. The Eatonville, Washington, product earned a hard-fought victory to bring the AMA Pro Flat Track Finals to a close and capturing the coveted No. 1 plate and Overall Grand National Championship in the process. "That was probably the best race of the entire season right there", said an ecstatic Baker. "Bryan Smith (also FUCHS Silkolene sponsored) and I were going at it the whole time and I couldn't have asked for a better competitor. There's no better way to finish off the championship than with a big win and I really have to thank my team, Dodge Bros Racing - Schenk Racing Ent. and all my sponsors especially FUCHS Silkolene LUBRI- CANTS, for providing us with such great products that kept our bikes running at their peak all season which made all of this possible." TURKEY FUCHS Team wins special prize Baker began his dominant march towards sealing the title early. He earned the top spot in qualifying, won his heat race and then the Dash for Cash before eventually topping Bryan Smith (Crosley Radio/Kawasaki/Silkolene) by.706 seconds at the end of the 25-lap main event. No one conquered more feats this year in AMA Pro Flat Track than the 2013 AMA Pro Grand National Champion Brad Baker. The 2011 AMA Rookie of the Year earned his first ever win at the GNC Expert level at Hagerstown Speedway after having finished in second-place three consecutive times to begin the season. At 20 years, seven months and 23 days, Baker is the fourth-youngest Grand National Champion in the history of the sport. The Expo th Hittite Rally, the 6 th leg of the Turkish Rally Championship, took place in Antalya on 23 to 24 November. The rally run by 50 teams started with a ceremony start on the evening of Saturday, 23 November in front of the Glass Pyramid. The teams contended with treacherous and challenging conditions due to the severe rain that went on throughout the race. Having finished the rally consisting of seven laps with their Mitsubishi Evo 9 sponsored by FUCHS, the Pinarbasi/Erhan Arikan team won the special prize Best Antalya Team.

5 PORTUGAL João Paulo Campos Costa confirms his talent at Portimão Following Spain, Portugal was the last stop of the Formula Junior Lurani Trophy 2013 hometown of our sponsored driver João Paulo Campos Costa, explains Paul Cezanne, FUCHS LUBRIFICANTES, Unip. Lda. With his Lola Mk5, he had a wonderful performance in Portimão taking our brand to the podium! Autódromo do Algarve is one of the most recent circuits in Europe, the track is very fast and has a lot of blind corners, making it very challenging for the drivers. Just like on the previous Jerez weekend, the Scottish John Fyda was permanently by the side of JP Campos Costa but this time the FUCHS Portuguese driver already knew the track and that gave him some advantage. Before finishing second place in the first race, João Paulo spun at the end of the pit straight at around 210 km/h. The Scottish driver also spun synchronized (and very close to João Paulo), probably caused by some sort of fluid on the track. Fortunately, they both managed the situation very well and ended up continuing the race smoothly after that astonishing show! For the second race it rained intensely and João Paulo didn t perform so well, as many other drivers curiously the ones not so good when the weather smiles passed him and ended up taking the podium. Next year JP Campos Costa will be back for another Lurani Season and we ll proudly be with him. BENELUX 6 Hours of Kortrijk: a good presentation for FUCHS For the first time over 20 years the 6 hours of the Kortrijk Rallye were organized in the city of Kortrijk and the surrounding cities. A new team of enthusiasms with the support of the local government created a 'family event' for the motorsport with an impressive list of participants, including several former Belgian rallye champions. Big names such as Freddy Loix, Pieter Tsjoen, Patrick Snijers, Vincent Verschueren and others were all eager to win this historic event. As the last rallye of the season, even drivers from UK signed in. FUCHS LU- BRICANTS BENELUX was the sponsor of the regroup zone and the technical control was located at the grand market of Kortrijk. We also had some teams competing in the historic class: Peter Demeyere with an Opel Manta GT, Mathias Viaene with a Porsche 911 and in the general competition Steven Vandenabeele with a Saxo Kit Car, explained Bart Verleye, Automotive Sales at FUCHS. For FUCHS, the participation was very important in this region and the visibility was very high so all motorsport fans in this region will know the FUCHS brand name and logo, confirmed Bart Verleye.

6 FRANCE Prepared for victory As they embark upon the 6 th Sonangol Africa Eco Race, the MTB team s drivers are relatively calm, considering the 10,000 km course that lies in wait for them, spanning Morocco and Mauritania, all the way down to Lake Retba in Senegal. We ve covered more than 12,000 km in the Spanish and Portuguese rallies this season, which has given us a chance to test and check the various modifications that we ve made to the dune buggies.the mechanics have worked all year long to lighten the buggies, modify the front end and sharpen up the gear box. You can really see the fruits of this labor in our pair of highly competitive buggies, which proved their mettle as we finished in second place in the last rally behind the Portuguese champions, explains Michel Turon-Barrere, MTB s team manager and a driver in his own right. The team is setting out again this year with two buggies, a truck and a safety car. The team is very closely knit and their experience, their strong rapport and their trust in each other is impressive. All of them are motivated by the prize of victory and are putting the finishing touches to preparations a few days before the start of the race. With 27 years of competition under my belt, I ve learned how to manage my stress. Organizers, partners and teams are all expected to behave responsibly, by using local suppliers, checking routes with the regional authorities, reducing the impact of the rally by using solar panels on the organization team s vehicles and so on. Team MTB s contribution to this in previous years has been their work with the village of Bonaba, where they are working to plant trees and help to found a school. In 2014, they will work with La Chaîne de l'espoir, a humanitarian association that provides medical assistance to children, by supplying clothing, toys and medicine.
