ODU held a 10-point halftime lead but James Madison went on a 12-0 run to take the lead, after ODU tied the score with 40 seconds to go, Tarik Hislop hit a runner in the lane to give JMU a win on Thursday. Tia Lewis notched her secondstraight double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds. ODU pulled down a season-high 59 rebounds and season high plus 21 rebound margin. Freshman Ashley Betz-White had a career-high nine rebounds. ODU head coach Karen Barefoot brings 13 years of head coaching experience and 200 plus wins in her first season as head coach of the Lady Monarchs. As head coach at the Apprentice School in 2001, she led the Builders to a National Championship while taking Lenoir-Rhyne the NCAA Tournament in the season. Last year while at Elon, she led the Phoenix to the WBI, the schools first ever women s basketball tournament appearance. All-Time Series: ODU leads 18-3 Old Dominion held a five-point halftime lead but Hofstra held the Lady Monarchs to just 22 second half points en route to an win in Norfolk on January 15. It was the first ever win for Hofstra in Norfolk. ODU at Hofstra Comparison Last year, ODU won at Hofstra, About Hofstra Hofstra is 16-5 on the year and 8-2 in CAA play. The Pride defeated William and Mary Thursday night. Hofstra is led by junior Shante Evans with 17.8 points and 10.3 rebounds per game. Katelyn Loper, who did not play the first time against ODU is second on the team with 13.9 points per game while Nicole Capurso averages 11.5 points per game. The first time around, ODU held a five-point halftime lead but Hofstra held a advantage after the break for an win. Shante Evans led HU with 22 while Marie Malone and Nicole Capurso added 20 apiece. Tia Lewis led the way with her eighth double-double of the season with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Mairi Buchan added 10 points and tied her career-high with nine rebounds. ODU finished with 59 rebounds for the game, a season-high. Lewis and Jackie Cook each had 10, while Buchan and Ashley Betz-White each had nine. The nine rebounds is a career-best for Betz-White. ODU has had eight different players score double-figures in at least one game so far this season. 4 Pulling Down the Rock Old Dominion pulled down a season-high 59 rebounds Wednesday night against JMU. The plus 21 margin was also a season-best, as was their 25 offensive rebounds. Tia Lewis and Jackie Cook each had 10 while Mairi Buchan and Ashley Betz-White had nine apiece, including a career-high mark for Betz-White. Leading Lewis Tia Lewis led the way with 17 points and 10 rebounds, earning her eighth double-double of the season. After going six-straight games without one, Lewis notched her second-consecutive. Guilford big in the Clutch JoNiquia Guilford led the way early and got the key stop late to lift ODU over George Mason Sunday. Guilford scored nine of her career-high 20 points in the first seven minutes, and stopped Taleia Moton from hitting a game-tying three-pointer. Two in a Row For the first time since Richmond and Alabama, Ashley Betz-White had back-to-back double-figure games. With 22 at W&M and 16 in the win over Mason. Combined, 30 of those 38 points came in the second half. Lewis on the Boards For the first time since the Jan. 4 win over Georgia State, Tia Lewis collected a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds. It was her seventh double-double of the season. Taking Over When Needed Tia Lewis had 23 points, Thursday at W&M, but Ashley Betz- White also came up big with 22 points, 19 in the second half to almost bring ODU back from an 11-point deficit with three minutes remaining. Don t Forget About Lewis Game Day Notes With her 23 points Wednesday at W&M, Lewis is now just 10 points away from passing Hamchetou Maiga for 15th on the ODU alltime scoring list. Lewis Making Her Mark Tia Lewis passed another ODU great on the all-time scoring charts, passing Shareese Grant for 16th all-time. She is just 32 away from tying Hamchetou Maiga for 15th all-time. Lewis In Elite Company After joining the 1,000 rebound club, Tia Lewis wasted no time tying Kelly Lyons for sixth on the all-time rebound list with 1,008. Buchan Makes Buckets Junior Mairi Buchan was 2-for- 21 from three-point range before Thursday, the Scotland native went 4-for-6 from beyond the arc to lead ODU with 16 points in the win at GSU. It was the first time in her career she led the team in scoring. Holding Their Own ODU led most of the way in the Wednesday, Jan. 11 loss at VCU but fell just short in overtime. Tia Lewis led with 21 points. ODU s biggest downfalls were giving up 25 offensive rebounds and shooting just 7-of-16 from the foul line. Career-Best Again Junior Jackie Cook has been impressive the last week for ODU, recording her career-high in two-straight games, as she had 20 points at VCU Jan. 11. Lewis Closing in on Milestone ODU senior Tia Lewis is closing in on another milestone, as she is just 14 rebounds shy of becoming the seventh Lady Monarch to reach 1,000 career rebounds. She is also just three points shy from passing Tiffany Green for 19th on ODU s all-time scoring list. Lewis has 1,396 career points. Stepping Up Junior Jackie Cook stepped up in a big way Sunday with a career-high 19 points in the win at NU. Cook shot 50 percent from the floor and was a perfect 5-of-5 from the foul line. Beyond the Arc Freshman Myeisha Hall has struggled shooting the ball this season, but not last Sunday, as she was 5-of-6 from three-point range for a season-high 15 points. Hall was just 2-of-21 from beyond the arc this year before Sunday with both makes coming against Seton Hall November 26. Then there Was Lewis Tia Lewis had a great first half at NU with 14 points, but got into foul trouble in the second half and finished with 16 points. Stepping up (Part Two) With 15:12 to play in the second half and trailing by one, Tia Lewis picked up her fourth foul. For the next 10 minutes with Lewis on the bench, instead of struggling with their leader off the floor, ODU grabbed a lead, one they would keep the rest of the way. Career-High, Again Senior Tia Lewis pumped in a career-best 30 points in ODU s win over Georgia State on Jan. 4. She also had 10 rebounds for her sixth double-double of the season. It was the third different team she has set her careerhigh this season. Three in a Row Senior Tia Lewis continued her impressive play with her thirdstraight 20-point performance in the win over North Carolina A&T on Dec. 18. The senior had 24 points and 13 rebounds to produce her fourth double-double of the year. 20 Again for Lewis

5 Tia Lewis scored 20-points for the fourth time this year and the second-straight game with 27 points in the win over Wofford Dec. 7. She tied her career high she set in the win over Alabama earlier this year. Buchan s Back Mairi Buchan had her best game of the year to date against Wofford with a season-high 13 points and tied her career best with nine rebounds. Cook Career-High Junior guard Jackie Cook registered a career-high 17 points in the CAA opener Sunday at George Mason. She had 13 of the 17 by halftime, finishing 4-of-7 from the floor and 8-of-10 from the foul line. Her previous career-high was 17 points last season at Hofstra. Lewis Heating Up Senior Tia Lewis has been a standout performer for the Lady Monarchs, producing her seventhstraight double-figure scoring effort (at the time) with 20 points at George Mason on Sunday. It was her third 20-point outing of the year and she just missed her fourth double-double with nine boards. Game Day Notes CAA Openers The loss to George Mason on Dec. 4 was the first ever to open CAA play. ODU drops to 20-1 all-time in openers. ODU is now 48-2 alltime against George Mason. Double-Double for Two Tia Lewis and JoNiquia Guilford became the first ODU teammates to record a double-double in the same game in the loss at GW Nov. 30 since Lewis (14 pts., 11 reb. and Jessica Canady (15 pts., 14 reb.) did it on Jan. 21, 2010 against Georgia State. Lewis Gets Third-Straight Tia Lewis recorded her thirdstraight double-double with 19 points and 14 rebounds in the overtime loss at George Washington. She was 7-of-18 from the floor and 5-of-5 from the foul line. Guilford Gets First JoNiquia Guilford recorded her first career double-double in the OT loss at George Washington, with 12 points and 14 rebounds. She came off the bench and shot 5-of-11 from the floor including knocking down a three-pointer. The 14 boards are a career best.
