Sam Coonrod (2-1, 1.32) is slated to make the start on the mound for the Giants tonight. 14-Game Road Trip Tonight marks the fourth game of San Jose s season-high 14-game road trip. The Giants suffered back-to-back losses in Modesto last Sunday and Monday to open the trip before knocking off Stockton last night. Following the current series against the Ports, San Jose continues their road trip with four games in Rancho Cucamonga, a three-game series in Visalia before returning to Modesto for two more games. The 14-game trip is the longest road trip for any team in the California League this season. The Giants are 8-2 in their last ten road games overall. Winning Ways The Giants enter this evening s contest having won 11 out of their last 15 games. LAST GAME May R H E San Jose Stockton WP: Agosta (2-0) LP: Fillmyer (3-2) S: None The Giants scored seven runs over the final two innings to break open a close game en route to a 12-5 victory over the Stockton Ports last night at Banner Island Ballpark. San Jose took the lead for good with a two-run top of the third before blowing open the contest with their offensive barrage late. Brandon Bednar (4-for-5) had four hits while C.J Hinojosa (3-for-6, 2B, RBI) added three hits and an RBI to lead the Giants at the plate. Aramis Garcia (2-for-5, 2B, 3 RBI) and Jonah Arenado (1- for-5, 2B, 3 RBI) also each drove in three runs and Steven Duggar (1-for-4, HR, RBI) hit a solo homer. San Jose starter Martin Agosta picked-up the win after working five innings with three runs (all earned) allowed. The Giants swept a three-game series from April at Municipal Stadium before a fourgame sweep at Banner Island Ballpark from May 2-5 (San Jose s first four-game series sweep in Stockton since April of 2007). San Jose has outscored the Ports by a margin and scored 10+ runs in three out of the eight games. Arenado Wins League Award Infielder Jonah Arenado was named California League Offensive Player of the Week on Monday. In six games last week, Arenado batted.346 (9-for-26) with four doubles, three home runs and six RBI's. He's now second on the team with six home runs overall. Arenado is the first San Jose Giant to win a weekly league award this season. In May After posting a record in April, the Giants have gone 11-5 thus far in May tied for the best record in the California League this month. San Jose s 3.13 ERA in May is second-best in the league (Modesto 3.08). Hinojosa, Shaw Among League Leaders After picking-up three more hits last night, shortstop C.J Hinojosa is currently second in the California League with a.347 batting average this season. Hinojosa s.431 on-base percentage is also second in the league. First baseman Chris Shaw ranks seventh in the league in batting average (.321), tied for sixth in home runs (7), tied for fourth in RBI s (29), tied for first in doubles (13) and fourth in slugging (.575). Who Needs A Day Off? The Giants are currently in the midst of a stretch of 29 consecutive days with a game (May 10- June 7). San Jose s only off day between now and the All-Star break is on Wednesday, June 8. Garcia Activated Catcher Aramis Garcia (hamstring) was activated off the disabled list before yesterday s game. Prior to last night, Garcia s most recent action came on May 8. The former second round draft pick went 2-for-5 with a double and three RBI s in yesterday s game. Garcia entered the year ranked as the #7 prospect in the San Francisco organization by Baseball America. In a corresponding roster move, catcher Ben Turner was transferred to Double-A Richmond.
