Following Monday s rainout, the Giants earned a 3-2 victory over the Rawhide on Tuesday night in the series opener. Visalia then swept a doubleheader from San Jose yesterday earning wins of 9-3 and 3-0. Jake McCasland (0-0, 2.25) is slated to start on the mound for the Giants today. Early Start Today marks one of three games this season for the Giants that will begin in the morning (April 26 at Rancho Cucamonga 10:35 AM, May 3 vs. Modesto 11:30 AM). First Back-To-Back Losses The Giants suffered back-toback losses for the first time this season with yesterday s doubleheader sweep. Morse, Williamson Continue Rehab Outfielders Michael Morse and Mac Williamson are scheduled to continue their rehab assignments with the San Jose Giants in today s game. Visalia scored seven runs in the top of the first inning in the first game before cruising to the victory. In the nightcap, three Rawhide pitchers combined on a two-hit shutout to complete the doubleheader sweep. Aramis Garcia (2-for-3, 2B, HR, 2 RBI) doubled and homered in the first game for San Jose. Jalen Miller (2-for-4) added a pair of singles. In the second contest, the final 13 Giants batters were retired as San Jose was shutout for the first time this season. Starters Heath Slatton (Game 1: 2/3 IP,5 H, 7 R) and Mark Reyes (Game 2: 4 IP, 3 H, 3 R, 1 ER) suffered the losses for the Giants. both recovering from injuries sustained during spring training. Morse is 1-for-5 (.200 AVG) with a single and a walk in two games with San Jose this week. Williamson is 1-for-3 (.333 AVG) with a single in his only previous rehab game with the Giants. Williamson previously played 159 games with San Jose during the seasons (.296 AVG, 28 HR, 100 RBI). Homestand Update San Jose enters today s contest with a 3-3 record during their current homestand. The Giants won two out of three games from the visiting Stockton Ports in a series that concluded last Saturday before dropping two out of the first three games of the current series against Visalia. Giant Offense Despite scoring only three runs in yesterday s doubleheader, San Jose remains first in the California League this season in runs scored. The Giants are averaging 6.1 runs per game this year (next-closest: Lancaster 5.9 per game). The Giants have scored at least seven runs in seven out of their 13 games and plated 10 or more runs three times already this year. San Jose s 13 home runs this season also lead the league (Lancaster and Stockton next with 8 HR). League Leaderboard Two Giants hitters are currently among the top seven in the California League in batting average: Aramis Garcia (3rd,.364) and Ryan Howard (7th,.327). Garcia also leads the league in home runs (4), RBI s (15) and slugging percentage (.705) while Howard is second in hits (18). On Deck The Giants next embark on a seven-game road trip to Stockton (three games) and Rancho Cucamonga (four games).
