Bob Chagaris, Ron Papineau, and P. J. McGill tilled the garden. Thanks. At the Club House May 5 th 6 th Yard Sale weekend 8 th :30 pm Party Planning Meeting 9 th Friday starting at 5:00p.m. Mark your calendar for the first Hor d'oeuvres Party at the clubhouse. Look for the sign up sheets in April and check out the different categories of food to bring and share. Please bring you own beverage of choice. POC Betty Zarnitz 29 th Memorial Day picnic Hor d Oeuvres/Cocktail Party Pull out those recipes of your favorite and tastiest appetizer and sign up as soon as possible for that category. We need a variety of finger foods so there will be plenty to choose from. Start time is 5:00pm on Friday, May 9. This is a BYOB. Help with the clean up will be needed. Hope to see you there! Betty Z Let s get together! Pool get-2-gethers from June through September. I hope to plan some informal evening BYOB gatherings at the pool this summer. Stay tuned to your for pop up fun. Wear swimsuits, dance, float around and watch the sun go down. Ladies Luncheon The May ladies' luncheon will be on Monday, May 5th. It will be a brunch at :30 at 03 Begonia Lane. A sign up sheet will be in the clubhouse.

2 Please put on the calendar The contact for the Ladies is Judy Rantala and her number is Coffee with Friends Coffee with Lady Friends will be held at two o' clock pm on Thursday 25 May at the Governor's Cafe 44 Kings Highway, Dover DE. Please RSVP to if you plan to attend or call I will make the group reservation. This will be the last afternoon Coffee as summer and pool weather is just around the corner. We may have Irish coffee at the pool some evening! The Caring Committee If you know of any Southern Meadow community resident who needs a Get Well card or Thinking of You card, please notify Jane Sabo. Recent Reads This month we will be meeting on May 3 rd at 7:00 pm. Come and share the books you have read to help prepare for the lazy days of summer by the pool. People share their own books, ebooks, and some borrowed from the shelves of the clubhouse library. POC Ellen Ainge Horseshoes Horseshoes will begin again for May starting on May 3 rd at 5 pm. Horseshoes will continue every Wednesday at the same time. Mahjong American Mahjong will meet on May 9 th and 23 rd. POC is Joan Jensen. 2 Dominoes/Rummikub Dominoes will meet on Thursday evenings on May 4 th and May 8 th at the Club House at 7 pm. POC Myrle Scott Billiards Any one interested in playing pool/billiards on Mondays at 2:00 pm at the Club House, please come on over and join the fun. Bingo Bingo will be held on Friday, May 5 th and May 25 th at PM. POC Don Sienkiewicz Pinochle Groups are gathering to play pinochle on Tuesday evenings at the Club House on Tuesday evenings at 7. Interested? We have two tables of foursome so far. Come and join in. POC Norm Jensen is Wednesdays from :30 to 4:30 pm in the Clubhouse. If you are curious about this craft or think you might like to give it a try, stop in and check it out! For more info, feel free to contact POC Fred Ainge at or stop by at 79 Daffodil Drive. Stitching This is a loosely organized group that gets together on Thursday afternoons from to 4 pm. The group is very flexible and fluid, it's come and go as you please, work on whatever you like. There are knitters, crocheters, cross-stitchers, card makers and all sorts of crafters. There even those who stop by just to chat and see what's happening... So feel free to come over!

3 Exercise in the Clubhouse Core and Stretch Class Jessie s 3 classes remain the same days and times: Tuesday at 9:30 Stretching, Thursday is the Toning class at 0:00 and Friday at 9:30 she has Zumba. There is a $5 charge for the Thursday and Friday classes. Regular chair yoga is at 8:30 AM Tuesdays and Thursdays. Low impact aerobics are offered on Mondays, Wednesday, and Fridays at 8:30. Saturday mornings we are doing Mat at 8:30. Scrabble Scrabble is played every Thursday afternoon from 4 pm in the Poker Room of the Club House. If you are interested in playing, come and join them. Bowling "SENIOR LEAGUE BOWLERS" meet at :00 pm every TUESDAY at Brunswick Zone Doverama Bowl, 600 S. Governors Avenue, Dover, DE. If any Southern Meadow residents would like to join, just show up. Any questions, or call Darlene - karaokequeenbean@aol.com or LRC Left, Right, Center will meet on May 8 th and May 22 nd. Bible Bible study will be held Tuesdays at 0:30 at the Club House. Currently we are reviewing the book of John. 3 Hand and Foot Hand and foot will be the first and third Tuesdays at :30. This month the games will be held on May 2 nd, 6 th, and 30 th. Hand and Foot is a card game played with multiple decks of cards. It s played for points and lots of fun with more people. POC Ginny Stewart Want a night out at the horse races? The scheduled "Horse Race Night Out" for Harrington Race Track is Thursday, May. We will leave from the clubhouse at 4 pm. There is a buffet at the Clubhouse Restaurant ($2.95). A sign up sheet will be placed in the clubhouse or you can call Bill Chaney (302) Deadline to sign up will be May 0. REDNER'S RECEIPTS FOR USO DELAWARE Thanks everyone for your continued support of the USO with the Redner's receipts placed in the box in the Clubhouse. USO DELAWARE 'WISH LIST' Collection for May I will be placing a plastic box marked with the USO logo in the Clubhouse around May to collect Wish List items needed for the USO Delaware's daily operations. This will be in conjunction with the Memorial Day holiday. As soon as I get a current Wish List I will post it

4 in the Clubhouse. I will also add the items to the May Newsletter. I know cases of water will be on the list, and if you would like to donate a case or more, rather than take it to the Clubhouse, please me at hd0829@comcast.net and we can arrange for pickup of the water. Thanks for all you do to help USO Delaware assist service members from all over the world. POC Helen Durkin PANTRY COLLECTION: We wish to thank all who have graciously participated. April s delivery went to Holy Cross Church just in time for Easter. Because of limited space we have one () week a month to collect, which will be the 3 rd week, however donations can and will be accepted anytime at my house or Gwen s. We would like to contribute to Shepherd s Place for the summer vacation, in doing so maybe some small activity, game, etc. would help the children s summer enjoyment Always, thanks to everyone for your continued support. Adult tickets are $5. Tickets may be purchased at the door. Camel and pony rides available before the performance at an additional cost. Band Bash American Legion Post No. 7 will host their sixth annual Band Bash on May 3 from noon to 0pm. Kick Back, Weekday Warriors, and no Tell Motel are among the bands. The Dover Days Festival is an annual event. WHEN: Friday, Saturday and Sunday May 5, 6 & 7, 207 (84th annual) WHERE: The Green, 55 the Green, Dover DE 990 The Green is a National Monument. (Kent County Delaware Festivals.) DESCRIPTION: The annual Dover Days Festival celebrates Dover Delaware, the Capital City of the first state, its history, culture and the arts. This event draws approximately 50,000 people and is the largest festival in Kent County DE. The Dover Days Festival is a jam-packed weekend with fun for the whole family including carnival rides, a Kids Zone, car show, more than 300+ artisans, crafters and food vendors, Maypole dancing, a huge parade, a pet parade, Revolutionary War, Civil War and World War II encampments, live music, fireworks Friday night, and more. American Pickers Frank Fritz and Mike Wolfe are bringing American Pickers to Delaware in May. Bower s Beach 5 th Annual Buccaneer Bash Arrrrrr Save the date! Come one, come all to the Bowers Beach Maritime Museum s 5 th Annual Buccaneer Bash will be held on May 27 th and 28 th at Bowers Beach. The Bash starts at noon. CHEER For older Americans Month, CHEER, Inc. is hosting and Observance Lunch Celebration on May 23 rd at the CHEER Community Center at Sand Hill Road of US 9 east of Georgetown.
