4 Reminder to All Members Please mark you calendars for our Texas Division Convention, June th. We will be busy with preparations during the upcoming months and will be calling on you to join the effort. Our workshop during the event is titled Historical Workshop. Abraham Lincoln once asked General (Winfield) Scott the question: "Why is it that you were once able to take the City of Mexico in three months with five thousand men, and we have been unable to take Richmond with one hundred thousand men? "I will tell you, " said General Scott. "The men who took us into the City of Mexico are the same men who are keeping us out of Richmond." 5 Page 5 of 5 What Have You Been Up To? Melody Townsend's Middle School girls basketball team won the district championship (Northland Christian Schoo this year. She plays the post position. She has also been selected to be on the MS softball team. Go Cougars! Ross Salge has some exciting news to share...he lost his first baby tooth on Sunday, February 8th. Then, he lost his second baby tooth on Thursday, February 19th. He got to put his first tooth under his pillow for the Tooth Fairy but we could not find the second one. We were at a horse arena that evening. He either swallowed it when he was having a snack or it's in the dirt inside the arena. We looked but could not find it so he chose a rock at the arena to put under his pillow. He wrote the Tooth Fairy a letter to let her know that he REALLY DID lose a tooth and he hoped she would take his rock. She did! Ross is also starting his second season of baseball and is on the Tampa Bay Rays. He's excited about it! He's had one practice so far. Ross is also registered for his first season of flag football. He really likes to tackle so we'll see how this goes. He'll start sometime in March. Shelby has some fun news to share also...she was chosen for the Spelling Bee again this year at her elementary school and participated in that on January 22nd. She did not win but she did really well! Shelby also participated in the 4th & 5th grade Science Fair at her school in January. She was so surprised to learn that she won 1st place for 4th grade. She worked really hard on her project and more importantly had fun with it. She received a blue ribbon too! On February 17th, the winners from each elementary school in Fort Bend ISD were invited to a District event where they displayed their projects and received congratulations from the Superintendent of Fort Bend ISD. It was a neat evening and she received an "Outstanding Exhibitor" ribbon. Savannah Mims has lost her first tooth! She is also working on her back handspring. She has also earned an additional 4 Girl Scout try-its.
