2 Good things are worth waiting for (from A Dog s Guide to Life ) Well, the sun came out and the temperature warmed to about 40 on Saturday, and it was about mid-day when I heard the noise coming down the side road by my house.yup sure enough it was a neighbor on his Harley all bundled up to stay warm but he was out and riding! Sunday there was another Harley went past on the highway! Can t say I blame either one of them for trying to rush the season I have been tempted - but I don t want the salt and winter gunk on my trike, so I am content to wait a bit longer. This does however, remind me that I need to set up my early Spring appointment for having the trike serviced so it is ready to go when winter clears away. Our thanks go to Gary and Emily House at Southern Tier Honda for renewing their Sponsorship for We greatly appreciate their support of the chapter. We will be doing our annual Meet & Greet at the dealership again this August we had a fun time last year! **** Congratulations go to Roy and Claire who became the proud grand-parents of 13 very beautiful Great Dane puppies this past week! Dora the Mom did a great job, all doing well. Check out Facebook Claire has posted some great pictures of the new babies. We have changed the date of the March Ice Cream party to Sunday March 25 th. Please update your plans and your calendar. Also be sure to read Edie s message in the newsletter this month. We had a great lunch recently at Bishop s in Ulster. Lots of nice changes - Food was good as always, and it was nice to see old friends. There is a lunch ride to Maple Leaf Family Restaurant on Wednesday February 21. Dale will be taking signups at the Gathering. If you miss the Gathering be sure to let him know. When I get flyers from the district or other chapters I send them out to all of you right away. If you are unable to read the messages or the attachments, please let me know. For the February Gathering we will again hold the Team meeting after the Gathering itself. We need to work on the calendar to plan more rides during riding season, and there is also a few business items to discuss. If anyone can help with contact information for possible CPR training, please talk to Roy or Dwayne, we would like to get that on our Calendar. Supposed to snow tomorrow I m ready for Spring! 3 With Christmas just over, I was thinking how what kids want for Christmas change every year. One reason is, they are a year older, and toys change all the time. When I was a young boy (I know, it was a long time ago ) I would get a toy truck, toy gun, and probably a new coat as the winters on the farm were cold. Later in the 1950s and 1960s the most popular toys for boys was an Erector set, Tinker toys, and a Red Rider BB gun. For girls, it was baby dolls, doll houses, and a play dish set. For our three girls it was a Chatty Cathy doll and a Barbie doll with many things to go with her. Now I don't know what kids want for Christmas now, but from what I hear, its $800 I-Pads and $1,000 smart phones. Sally and I buy gifts for our three daughters, son-in laws, and grandchildren, but for us, we keep it simple. This year, she got me Denture cleaners and I got her a tube of Wrinkle Cream. Isn't It's great to get old?

4 Get Out Your Ice Cream Makers! Chapter "R" is planning a home made ice cream party for March 25,2018 at the Athens Fire Hall. Also planning to have a Chinese Auction to have a little FUN!! Please let me know if you plan to bring something for the auction. Also---if anyone is interested in having a Progressive Dinner ride talk with me----have had a LOT of fun with this ride. Roy is looking for a play yard for the puppies if anyone has one they would care to donate it would be a big help...or any ideas for something similar to help as they grow quite quickly and will be all over the place and very active once their eyes open in a couple of weeks. Roy said he and Claire aren t getting much sleep because the puppies cry loudly when they get separated from Mom their eyes won t be open for a couple of weeks yet, so they sometimes get separated and of course they can t see where she is.

6 Hello everyone. In the last newsletter, I talked about the data available on the Rider Education website. I also explained how to enter this site so you can review your own information. This month, I would like to explain the difference between Safe Mileage and High Mileage. Safe Mileage begins on the day you join GWRRA. Your safe mileage increases for every mile you ride your motorcycle without having a reportable accident. If you have an accident which is reportable for insurance claim or by law enforcement as an accident, your mileage reverts back to 0 miles. The program awards a pin for every 5,000 miles safely ridden. We have many members with 100,000 miles in the program. High Mileage is just for bragging rights. This is not a GWRRA program. High Mileage indicates the number of miles you have accumulated since you began riding a motorcycle legally. Safe miles bars awarded in 50,000 increments are displayed from a head pin. I must say it again, This is not a GWRRA program. However, we have members in the Pennsylvania District with over 400,000 miles and they are still adding up the miles! In the coming months, I will explain what the Levels Program is, how the program works, and why it is important to all of us as GWRRA members. It is up to you to monitor and update your information for the website, but I am here to help when needed. Please feel free to contact me when you have questions or need other assistance. He then said "I have been in prison for the last 17 years!". She was stunned and finally asked him what he had done. He said that he had murdered his first wife! She was stunned again and after a long pause she said. So you're SINGLE??? Do not regret growing old, it is a privilege denied to many.
