We now have a date and venue for the C10 Charity Party 11th and 12th October at Runcton Holme. We still need volunteers to organise the darts and pool competition, the quiz and to sell tickets so if you are interested ireland877@btinternet.com I hope to see you at the summer rallies but before then we have a family wedding coming up so I am off to write my Father of the Bride speech, which may take some time! Dave Allen Newsletter Editor I hope this year will be a great one for C10 A word from the Centre Rep... Well the winter is finally leaving us it seems, went out on the bike today in the sunshine woo hoo! For those who don't know I've got new rims on the bike, gone with a 8 & half inch on the back and it still corners great. We had a bowling match against C19 on the 2nd March and a great time was had by all. All those who wanted to bowl got the chance and both centres did very well. I managed to win the trophy beating Andy (big boy) Smith by two points, Shaz was not too pleased when I got home, "I thought we'd got rid of that thing!" she said------or words to that effect! We are going to make this event a yearly thing, so the next one will be organised by Essex and they might invite C13 as well, so Sat Nav and Louise you are safe for the time being! Big thanks for doing us proud on Sunday, well organised! I hope this year will be a great one for C10, would like to see loads of you out and about at meetings, rideouts and rallies. I haven't forgotten our friends from the East and I will be visiting you some Sundays for your meets. Don't fall over yourselves rushing to the bar to get me a drink! Lol! As if! Rodders C10 Rep

2 VSOC Centre 10 Charity presentation to Street Forge Workshops In 2013 C10 decided to support a new charity, Street Forge Workshops. The workshops provide individually designed programmes for adults with learning, physical and/or sensory disability in an atmosphere which is supportive, worklike and friendly. Sally Swift and I work there as volunteers and arranged to present a cheque for 1,000; raised mainly at the end of season charity party. You stole the show with that entrance, and long will it be remembered! The eight of us involved managed to do this by getting Rodders to ride his new bike, with exhausts roaring loudly, into the dining room where everyone was having their lunch. We then offered those "trainees" (who had various disabilities) the opportunity to sit on the bike and have their photos taken. They thought this was absolutely fantastic and it was indeed the most memorable moment of the day for them...they still keep talking about it months afterwards! Our 1,000 cheque was very much appreciated and summed up best by the manager, Joyce Crampton: Aside from our appreciation of your generosity, your presence at the function was an enjoyable experience for everyone present. I can t remember all of your nicknames, save for Sally Swift s Swifty but they, along with Martin s temptingly lurid description of your social events highlight your bon-ami and welcoming nature; all underlined by the sensational appearance of a fire breathing superbike with its window rattling, crackling roar and magnificent lines. You stole the show with that entrance, and long will it be remembered! The money will be put to good use as they provide horticultural training on an allotment in Stowmarket and were in dire need of a new hut to shelter in from inclement weather. So I would suggest that when their new hut is installed, C10 find time to make a visit to them to see the fruits of our charitable fund raising. 3 Three years a member I joined the VSOC at the beginning of 2011 after I went to the retirement do of long term colleague and friend, Dave Allen. He combined his retirement party with the annual C10 charity party at the Eternit Club and invited me and the family along so this was the first time I had met all of you face to face. We must take the rough with the smooth, but it s nice to know we all stick together no matter what life throws at us. I had a great time, an absolute blast in fact, so much so that within a few weeks I had bought the old 650 Dragstar and joined the club. I still have the old girl today, and she continues to do me proud. I still love looking at it in the garage, but obviously enjoy riding it more. I have had a few bikes in the past but they never stayed round for long as there is not much fun riding on your own. However riding in a pack or to a rally destination is a completely different story and I absolutely love it. I can t believe that March will see me sending off for the start of my fourth year of membership, Christ time flies! Yet no doubt year number four will be just as good as all the others. In that time I have been to many different rallies (the patches on the waistcoat are filling up nicely thank you!) I have been on many different ride-outs, one wedding and sadly one funeral (ride the clouds Peter). We must take the rough with the smooth, but it s nice to know we all stick together no matter what life throws at us. So bring on 2014, long may it reign! Hopefully a lot less water than we have had over the last few months and let me put a few more fly splats on the front of the bike. Keep the shiny side up people! Craig Goodridge Castles of East Anglia 2014 sees the International rally take place in Germany for the first time. Many of you will be going along and hopefully arriving home safe and sound with lots of memories. To tie in with the Germanic theme the Centre 10 bonding ride is a famous biking route in Germany -The Castle Route (as seen on the Travel Channel on Worlds Greatest Motorcycle Rides). The ride will take place on the weekend of August 9 th and 10 th with the total distance for the 2014 ride being 143 miles. The route will follow 'roughly' the route on the map, starting at Offord Castle on the East Coast (exact start point to be determined nearer the time), riding to Framlingham, Hedingham, Castle Acre and finishing at Castle Rising on the North West of our region. Overnight camping will be looked at and hopefully the weather will be a bit warmer than the 2013 bonding weekend! More details will follow as I get them and will be communicated by to you all and hopefully it will be as successful as UK Route 66 was. Stay safe Mark Barratt P.S. 4 EVENT ROUNDUP VSOC Centre 10 Post Christmas Party This year C10 joined up with C19 for a post- Christmas Party at the Holiday Inn in Colchester with a good turnout of about 60 people. The food was excellent and the drink flowed freely (no surprise there then!) We all had a great time and many thanks to Mr K (Peter Gauntlet) for taking on the task of organising the dinner and the raffle. Bowling in Bury St Edmunds!
