2 DEAR PARENTS, Enclosed you will find all of the information you need to have a wonderful and organized Spring Recital Performance. We have enjoyed working with your children throughout this year, and we are all eager to showcase what they have learned! Please read through all information carefully, as each page contains important dates, times, and details for pictures, dress rehearsal, and of course The Big Show! The packet also contains order forms for Recital Video, Flowers, and Program Happy Ads. Please take special note of where events are located, and what time/date your dancer is needed at each event. If you have any questions, please don t hesitate to call the front desk, and we will be happy to help you. 4 Picture Day Information Photos and Dress Rehearsals are Wednesday, May 27 th and Thursday May 28 th, Rehearsals AND Photos are held at Oswego East High School. Please arrive 30 minutes before your designated photo time, as we do tend to run ahead of schedule. Reference the schedule below for your arrival times. We move very quickly at our recital events, and we would hate for you to miss your child s rehearsal or photos. We cannot hold up the event for tardy families, so please be on time. Dancers should arrive with their hair and make-up done. Costumes should be put on upon arrival if at all possible. Dressing Areas will be provided. Children should not go home in their costumes. Please dress your child in the dressing room, and meet your teacher in the hallway outside of the dressing rooms. We have found that it is very distracting to the dancers and the photographers to have parents in the room during photos, therefore, no parents will be allowed in the photography room. Poses: Your child s instructor will pose your child for pictures, however, if you would like a specific pose, please go over it with your child ahead of time. This keeps pictures moving smoothly and efficiently. We appreciate your understanding in this matter. Pictures will be mailed directly to your home approximately 3 weeks after photo day. Please contact the photographer (the number will be on the picture envelope) if there is a problem on your order. ** The ordering forms and information will be sent out separately. 4

5 Dress Rehearsal Information Wednesday, May 27 th & Thursday, May 28 th at Oswego East High School 1. Please arrive at dress rehearsal 30 minutes before your photo/performance time. Parents need to STAY at the facility while their child is rehearsing. Dancers will need time to change into their costumes and stretch before they perform. This is a very important day for the children to prepare for their performance, and each class will run through their routine only twice. Please do not be late, as we are on a tight schedule, and if you are late, you will miss your rehearsal. Hair and Make-up should already be done! 2. Please make sure that you have all shoes and costume pieces before you arrive. Being unprepared can be stressful for a child. They have worked very hard, and this event should be fun and exciting for them. 3. Make sure that your child is well rested, and not hungry. Please bring water with a squeeze top and non-messy snacks. Absolutely no juice, pop, gum, chocolate, etc. Bring entertainment that is non-staining (i.e. no markers, stamps, etc.) Concessions are available for guests at all dress rehearsal events, and on the days of shows. Please support our dance company as they fundraise to go to nationals! 4. All children should have the right color/brand of tights (no holes), proper hair, and make-up done for every number that they are in. A complete list of tights and shoes will be available on the website on the recital page, as well as in this packet. This is a full dress rehearsal. Please get children dressed in their costumes in the dressing room. They should not go home in their costumes. Hair and make-up should be done at home before they arrive. 5. Feel free to take photos on rehearsal day, or before or after the recital. No flash photography during performances! No Video is allowed at recital. You may take video during dress rehearsal if you so choose. 6. Room Moms are expected to arrive 45 minutes before their class s dress rehearsal/photos. They will establish a class meeting area in the hallway, greet the children, and usher them to and from the stage during rehearsal. Finally, bring them back out to their parents in the audience after they rehearse. Room moms will receive an information packet the room mom meeting on Thursday, May 21 st at 6:00 pm. 2 Room moms are allowed per class. 5

6 Recital Ticket Information Recital Tickets go on sale Monday, April 13 th at 6:00pm! Please do not delay in purchasing tickets these shows do sell out! All tickets must be purchased online!! Visit our website to purchase tickets. At this time, we are not limiting number of tickets purchased, however, the auditorium holds approximately 750 people, and will fill up quickly. The auditorium has assigned seating. Room moms (i.e. chaperones) will not need a ticket! Pre-Sale Tickets: (purchased online) $13.00 for children under 12 $16.00 for adults! ** Children under 3 are free. (Children must sit on your lap and not in seat) The Website to Purchase Tickets Is: Tickets at the Door: All tickets $17.00 **** We encourage purchasing tickets in advance, as we cannot guarantee how many tickets will be still be available at the door. Several shows sold out last year, and seats are assigned, so please purchase early! Please remember to be courteous to all of the children performing, and do not bring small children that cannot sit through a long performance. Children dancing in the recital willnot need a ticket. They will watch the half of the performance that they are not in from the balcony. A will call will be available if you need to leave tickets in marked envelopes for family members. 6

12 Drop Off / Pick Up Procedures for Rehearsals and Show Days Drop off: Dress Rehearsal Days: Please enter through the front doors at Oswego East and head to the hallway on the left side of the auditorium. There will be signs and people to direct you. Meet up with your class in the hallway. Parents will then be directed to the auditorium to wait until their dancers are onstage. Room moms will stay with the class. Show Days: Please drop your child off through the front doors at Oswego East (there will be signs and people to guide you) then take them to the dressing room, where their room mom will be waiting. You will meet at the class meeting area and help them to get their costume on if needed. Then you must leave the dressing area, and wait in the cafeteria area until the auditorium doors open before the show. This is a safety protocol that all parents must follow! DROP OFF TIMES FOR RECITAL DAYS ARE AS FOLLOWS: Dancers performing in the Friday 6:00pm show: Arrive by 5:15pm w/ Hair and Make-up Done. Room Moms should arrive by 5:00pm. Auditorium doors will open for the audience at 5:30pm. Dancers performing in the Saturday 2:00pm show: Arrive by 1:15pm W/ Hair and Makeup Done. Room Moms should arrive by 1:00pm. Auditorium doors will open for the audience at 1:30 pm. Pick up Procedures: Only a parent may collect their child out of the dressing room AFTER THE SHOW. No males will be allowed in the dressing area. If a dad needs to pick up, please let us know, and we will get the dancer from the dressing room for you. Children will only be released to the parent. No one will be allowed in the backstage hallway other than room moms or teachers. No parents or visitors are allowed in this area during the show. Only room moms and teachers are there to keep the children safe. This means that if your child needs you, we will page you in between numbers to come to the backstage area. Do not come back and get your child after they are done dancing, or while they are watching in the roped off dancer section during the half that they are not performing. This causes confusion, and undermines all safety protocols that we have developed. You MUST let your room mom know if you need to leave early!!! If you think that your child will need you, please sign up to be a room mom. 12

13 Costume/ Make-Up/ Hair Information General Information: Hair should be gelled back, no bangs for any ballet class. Please make sure that hair is secured in specified style. (Use bobby pins, hair nets for buns, etc.) NO UNDERWEAR UNDER COSTUMES! Please explain to your child that it is like a swimsuit, and this is why we wear tights. It is improper to have underwear hanging out from costumes. Use nude briefs if you must wear something underneath. No GUM! Label all of your costumes, shoes (on the inside), and accessories. Put accessories in labeled zip lock bags and hang with costumes. Have Hair and Make-up done when you arrive at events. Do not wear costumes to events, please dress in the male or female dressing rooms when you arrive. Make sure that you have extra tights for the show and dress rehearsal If your dancer has quick changes during the show, they will be allowed to change in the dressing room backstage. Please work out quick changes with their room moms. If alterations on costumes are needed, and you don t know a seamstress, you may contact Monica Enoch-Designs by Monique. Please call the front desk to speak with her General Make-Up Guidelines for all female Dancers (These are recommendations. Please just choose things that are similar if you are not going to purchase exactly the same!) Foundation to match your child s skin tone Brown Eye shadow Lipstick- We recommend an all-day lipstick- No smearing or mess. Maybelline Superstay #015 All Day Cherry Medium Pink Blush (Any brand is fine) Black Waterproof Mascara Black Eyeliner (soft, no pencils) for Level I and Up (Mary Kay is great!) Hair Supplies Needed: Hair Gel, Hairspray, Bobby Pins, Hair Nets if hair is in a bun, fine tooth comb, elastic bands. This year, all dancers will be receiving a special surprise as they line up for finale! Only dancers who participate in the finale will receive the surprise.
