What seemed, at times, to be insurmountable odds have been "surmounted". The many pieces of the 2011 Vaud-Villities puzzle have finally come together, and we will have a grand show.

We will now put on our show faces, face the lights, and with our friends and colleagues, do our best to give our audiences a great show--to bring pleasure and happiness, to give them the exciting

MAY 18-22, 2011 A Message from our 2011 Cast President THE SHOW BEGINS!!! All of our hard and dedicated work over these many months are over. What seemed, at times, to be insurmountable odds have been "surmounted". The many pieces of the 2011 Vaud-Villities puzzle have finally come together, and we will have a grand show. The hours of building, painting, memorizing, dancing, singing, cajoling, helping, pitching in, rehearsing, cutting, sorting, moving, selling, sewing, and on and on are past. We will now put on our show faces, face the lights, and with our friends and colleagues, do our best to give our audiences a great show--to bring pleasure and happiness, to give them the exciting experience that the history, heritage and showmanship that are Vaud-Villities. It's all in our blood, it's a part of life that only the lucky few can have. So sing well, dance with grace and enthusiasm, share the excitement with those in the audience. For me, it has been an honor to be your Cast President this year. Smile, break a leg, and on with the show!!! Bob Tannehill

VAUD-VILLITIES 2011 As you can see, as of May 14, we're not quite half way to our budgeted goal. But orders are picking up recently, and we really believe we can make it.

2 VAUD-VILLITIES 2011 As you can see, as of May 14, we're not quite half way to our budgeted goal. But orders are picking up recently, and we really believe we can make it. Sell two tickets every day until the end of show week, and we'll do it. We'll update the thermometer daily to let you know how we're doing watch your for updates! You got us to within $300 of our dollar goal in program ads, so no doubt you can come through with a 8-day spike in ticket sales. Evening Sunday Matinee Sunday Evening Total Tickets Sold: BOX OFFICE NEWS As we move into show week, I want to share a few key points from the Box Office: 1. Starting Tuesday, May 17, the Box Office will be open 1.5 hours prior to Curtain for ticket sales and Will Call tickets i.e. a 7:30 PM performance, the Box Office will open at 6 PM. For an 8 PM performance, Box Office opens at 6:30 PM, for a 2 PM performance, the Box Office opens at 12:30 PM. NOTE: Box Office may be open after each performance. 2. Reminder: All Ticket Sales are Final. If you need to sell or trade tickets, you can utilize the VV Ticket Exchange Board located in the Cast Assembly Room. 3. Any tickets purchased on line this week, will be held at Will Call for pick up. We will not have time to mail them! Thanks - Terry Timmons Ticket Chair

Dancers - Warehouse - "Rose" dressing room and Gold dressing Room; Men s Chorus - "Ensemble Room" dressing room; Women s Chorus - Board Room & Theater Dressing Room; Quick Change Dressing Rooms - one on each side of the stage. 2. Cast Parking: Parking for the cast is in the Ohio Dept of Taxation Parking Lot. There will be signs to direct you. Parking permits are required and will be available Monday (via Bob Tannehill). Do a costume check after each show to make sure you re ready for the next show. 9. Please stay out of the Lobby/Theatre/Public Restrooms during Audience Performances. 10. There are a number of trash containers in the building. Please help us keep the building clean by taking care of your own trash. Stage Right Up Stage 11. Remember to be supportive and applaud the talent and contribution of every cast member. Show week can present added tension and anxiety. Relax, have fun and celebrate together as we proudly present America s longest running music and dance spectacular. Stage Left Down Stage

4 BACKSTAGE NOTES RISER ETIQUETTE Enter and leave the stage quietly. No talking, please. Never enter the stage once the curtain is open unless you have been choreographed to do so. Don t touch the curtain. Stand still on the risers with your hands at your side unless you have been choreographed otherwise. Please don t wave to anyone in the audience. Keep your face forward, looking at the conductor at all times possibly a video monitor. It s tempting to watch the dancers and soloists but your eyes should not leave the conductor. Keep your hands away from your face - always. If you have difficulty or are uncomfortable approaching the risers or leaving the risers find a buddy standing near you to assist you. If you become woozy on the risers... just sit down. Front row... just walk off. No perfume, please! Please wear flat shoes. Smile the biggest smile you have from the moment the curtain opens until you (quietly) leave the stage. SMILE! WATCH THE CONDUCTOR HANDS TO YOUR SIDE ENERGY! IF YOU HAVE A GREAT TIME - SO WILL YOUR AUDIENCE! You have all worked hard let your spirit shine through your voice, your movements your expression!

5 COSTUME NEWS A HUGE THANK YOU to all who helped with the monumental task of sorting through our costume collection. Thanks to your efforts we have been able to direct performers to exactly the types of costume components they need, or in some cases tell them that we haven't got what they want. Just to know we have something, or we don't, is a major milestone. Just think of the previous two years when costume searches took large amounts of time because there was no organization and our boxes and racks were a big jumble. AFTER THE FINAL PERFORMANCE on Sunday, May 22, we'll have collection boxes labeled with the name of each section set out somewhere near the dressing room areas... location to be determined, but you'll find them. PLEASE PAY ATTENTION to how each box is labeled as you return your costumes so we'll have all the parts and pieces that belong together in the same box. Some numbers have costumes that are borrowed from other sources. We will have separate boxes for those. Jerry Stambaugh After show week, I need a few more helpers to tackle the task of putting away the costumes that were used in this year's show. Work will begin Thursday, June 9-9:30 a.m - Noon. One or two more days may be needed to finish the job. If you can join the "Put-away" crew (all work weekday mornings), please me at cforsyth@rrohio.com. Thanks also to Jerry Stambaugh for arranging to get from Kroger the boxes for costume return at the end of the show. We'll be neat and organized thanks to Jerry! Carol VV Promotional Items 4 Sale We will be selling our logo promotional items including discounted 2010 tees & 2011 t-shirts, water bottles and VV bags in the lobby during show week starting with our Tuesday, Community Benefit Night. These items make great gifts of appreciation and friendship during show week! 6 VV CAST MILESTONES For Carolyn Smith, Vaud-Villities has certainly been All in the Family! Here s the story My twin, granddaughters (5-yrs-old) Michaela and Joy will be participating in the show this year. Just a simple "walk-on", of course, but we're excited!! This will be the 4th generation of my family to be in V.V. My Mother - Joyce Mickey (25 years) was a Chorus member and soloist. She was cast in "Circus" the last time we performed this number. Actually, one of her favorites! I Joined VV in January 1984 and currently serve as a Board Member/Membership Co-Chair. In my 37+ years, I have served as Cast Secretary, President-Elect, Vice President, and President. My son, Howard (Chip) Carter was part of our show in the Men s Chorus. My twin Granddaughters (in Circus) Michaela Kegler & Joy Kegler, daughters of Todd and Tia Kegler. And lastly My sister, Carla Banks Williams was in the show...chorus and Soloist. Granddaughter, Elizabeth Joyce Carter - Attended Kids Camp and performed in Kids Camp. Congratulations 5 Year Anniversary AFTER GLOWS It s party time. Join us each evening after the show for fun, laughter and good times. We hope that we have no emergencies, but just in case of sprains, headaches, small cuts, dust in eyes, etc., there will be simple medical supplies located in the area of the warehouse designated as the Cast Gathering Area. I will have basic non-narcotic pain meds, first aid supplies, ace wraps, glucose tablets, etc. located on a table marked medical supplies. If you witness a medical event, such as suspected heart attack, call 911. The squad is minutes away from NPAC. Please remember to drink plenty of water, stay hydrated. Please wear NO perfumes, colognes, scented hairsprays during the show. Many persons are allergic, have their noses and throats close up so they cannot sing or breathe properly. Jackie and Connie If you have a known medical condition making you more vulnerable to a possible event, for example diabetes, medications causing dizziness, heart conditions, please let a few close friends know of this so they can provide useful information if you have problems. I will try to have a list of medical volunteers located at the medical supplies table. Currently I know of Jackie Miller (alto), Jerry Stambaugh (stage crew), Steve Swiger (stage crew), Aunna Neighbarger (soprano 2), Paul Sabine (bass). If any other people have first aid training, medical backgrounds, please let me know. I will add you to the list. Let us keep VV singing & dancing all night long with no problems!
