9 Page 9 Maroochy Beach Gymnastics are extremely proud of WAG Level 10 athlete Karleigh Fraser (pictured 2 nd from left) - who was selected to represent Australia at the New Zealand Open Tour. Karleigh s selection was based on her 3 rd All Around placing at the 2017 National Gymnastics Championships. Karleigh, along with her WAG Level 10 team mates and Australian coach flew to New Zealand early in October. Following her outstanding performances at both National Championships and 1 st All Around placing at the 2017 Queensland State titles, Karleigh was looking forward to a very successful competition. Unfortunately Karleigh was forced to withdraw from competition due to injury, cheering for her team mates from the sideline. We are extremely proud of your achievements and selection to compete at this international event. Despite the devastating fire which destroyed our Wises Road venue, and subsequent temporary relocation to Kunda Park, Maroochy Beach Gymnastics stood proud to host the 2017 MAG Sunshine Coast Junior Regional Championships on Sunday 20 th August. Following three months of interrupted training, twelve of our MAG Level 3 6 boys put on their best performances, bringing home a swag of individual apparatus medals and All Around placings. At the completion of the event, Maroochy Beach Gymnastics athletes had attained 16 individual first placings; 12 second and 14 third placings on apparatus. 12 Page 12 With everything going as planned, all Term gymnastics classes will operate from the re-built Wises Roads site. Despite the fire, there has been little change to the original building plans. The completed gymnastics venue will be a modern and spacious training area for our athletes with a mezzanine viewing area for families and spectators. The ground level will also accommodate our administration office; canteen; gymnast waiting area and toilet facilities. We thank you for your ongoing support throughout 2017 and look forward to your child s continued enrolment at Maroochy Beach Gymnastics Club in 2018 and beyond. Staff CPR and Senior 1 st Aid certification was held during the school holiday period. Thank you to Judy Bartlett of Rapid Response First Aid for your professionalism and expertise.
