1 The Aubie Tribune The Official Auburn Tigers Kids Club Newsletter september 2012 Getting to Know... Parker and Caroline - Auburn University Cheerleaders Parker - 2nd year AU Cheerleader - Sylacauga, AL Caroline - 3rd year AU Cheerleader - Greenville, AL Which is your favorite uniform and why? Caroline: All of our uniforms have very unique names. The squad gets to name each new uniform which is a tradition that is very special to us. My favorite uniform is named Sweaty Cat. I love this uniform, not only because of the big AU on the front, but also because it is the uniform we wore at the National Championship game in That was my first year as an Auburn University Cheerleader and having the opportunity to cheer at that game was beyond exciting. Ever since that game I have loved Sweaty Cat! Hopefully we will wear it a lot this year! WDE!! Tell us about the Auburn man or woman who has had the most influence on your life. Parker: I would say my grandfather is the Auburn man who has had the most influence on my life. He represents all things Auburn and loves this place with all his heart. Being an Auburn man is more than just attending the University; it s what you take with you beyond this academia and how you represent yourself and Auburn in all circumstances once you have left. I believe in honesty and truthfulness, without which I cannot win the respect and confidence of my fellow men. 2 Keeping Fit with Aubie Yogurt on the Go Ingredients: ¾ c. light fruit-flavored yogurt 1 tbsp. raisins 1 tbsp. sunflower seeds 1/3 c. strawberries Utensils: Measuring cup Measuring spoon Directions: Mix all ingredients in a plastic cup. Adapted January 10, 2010 from org/kid/recipes/recipes/cd_yogurt_go.html Be a Fit Kid There s a lot of discussion these days about fit kids. People who care (parents, doctors, teachers, and others) want to know how to help kids be more fit. Being fit is a way of saying a person eats well, gets a lot of physical activity (exercise), and has a healthy weight. If you re fit, your body works well, feels good, and can do all the things you want to do, like run around with your friends. Some steps only parents can take such as serving healthy meals or deciding to take the family on a nature hike. But kids can take charge, too, when it comes to health. Here are five rules to live by, if you re a kid who wants to be fit. The trick is to follow these rules most of the time, knowing that some days (like your birthday) might call for cake and ice cream. 1. Eat a variet of foods, especially fruits and vegetables. 2. Drink water and milk most often 3. Listen to your body 4. Limit Screen Time 5. Be Active Adapted August 28, 2012 from org/kid/stay_healthy/fit/fit_kid.html#cat120 Happy Birthday to You!
