1 BLUES NEWS Northern Football League Bound 2016 Football Results SENIORS Kilmore ( ) DEF Heidelberg West (4.4-28) RESERVES Kilmore ( ) DEF by Heidelberg West ( ) U19s Kilmore ( ) DEF Diamond Creek ( ) Netball Results A GRADE Kilmore (28) DEF West Ivanhoe (21) B GRADE Kilmore (15) DEF by Fitzroy (36) Football Report By Travis McCarty (Senior Coach) Round 3 saw our boys host the Heidelberg West Football Club. The build up throughout the week had been very positive leading up to the game. We had 4 changes to our side from our last game and the general feel was that of confidence that the personnel we brought in would accommodate what the team required. In the first quarter with a favourable breeze, Heidelberg West got the jump and kicked the first 2 goals within the first few minutes. Fortunately though, our boys were able to peg one back into the breeze and only trailed the visitors by 5 points at quarter time. The second term saw Kilmore take control of the C GRADE Kilmore (14) DEF by Bundoora (22) 1
2 Upcoming Events 30th of April - Famous couples & groups dress up night 28th of May - Surprise function 18th of June - Mid Season Ball 9th of July - 10K Draw 23rd of July - Man O Man 6th of August - Past players / premiership reunions & Trivia Night 17th of September - Presentation Night 30th of September - Grand Final Eve game, kicking 5.4 to 1.2 to lead at half time by 21 points. The second half belonged to Kilmore, kicking 8.7 to 1.1 including holding Heidelberg West goalless in the last quarter to record an 69 point win. For Kilmore, Alex Desmond kicked 4 whilst Nick Sheldon and Michael McCulloch kicked 3 each to lead our goal kickers. Rick Kimberley and Tom Snaith were sensational across our backline. Ruckman Brian Bell played exceptionally well in his debut game with the blues. He was supported by on ballers Mitch McGrath and Adam Goudge who both dominated. Our forward line functioned very well with Nick Sheldon, Nick Ferris, Jaxson Kinnear and Michael McCulloch each playing vital roles. Special mentions must go to the follow players: Ben Cooney- A fantastic debut game for The Kilmore Football Netball Club. Ben played on the wing and showed his skills and determination to not only win his own footy, but to execute his decision makings and create winning plays for the side. The return of Alex Desmond. Dezzie played his role for the side whether it was at half forward or on ball. His leadership qualities both on and off the field is a massive addition to our club. 2
3 Upcoming Games: Football (SEN & RES) The return game of Rhys Way. Rhys was instrumental for our side, hitting packs and taking some wonderful contested marks and at the same time winning his own contested footy. We feel as a group that this win (1st win the Northern Football League) will give us confidence going forward to take on the future unknown challenges that lie ahead. This week, we look forward to our next game as we travel to Watsonia to take on the Saints. April 23rd Vs Watsonia (AWAY) April 30th Vs Banyule (HOME) U19s April 23rd Vs North Heidelberg (AWAY) April 30th Vs Banyule (HOME) Netball 22nd of April RESERVES REPORT By Marcus Davern (Coach) It was a disappointing loss in the end after being 27 points up at 3/4 time only to run out of legs. Inaccurate kicking and disposals around the ground proved extremely costly in the end! There were some good performances from Joel Hackney (his best game so far) in the midfield, the two big boys up forward Robbie Wittmar and Jake Tilley. Dave heather was again solid down back! We need to keep our heads up and come out confident this weekend to turn it all around! Go blues! A grade - RMIT B grade - RMIT C grade - RMIT U19s REPORT By Paul Phillips (Coach) This week we faced Diamond Creek which was going to be a big test for us, we started strong with midfield and forwards getting on top from the start, our backline worked hard and held strong in defence. Kilmore s wingman did damage through the centre with 3

The last 2 Quarters were an arm wrestle and was tough footy, the boys were asked to dig deep and they delivered, Jack Maher, Hayden Phillips, James Stewart, and Bronson Phillips held strong with the whole team working harder to help deliver a great win Very Proud of all these Boys for the commitment and dedication on a well deserved win. SENIORS: Goal Kickers: A. Desmond 4, N. Sheldon 3, M. McCulloch 3, M. Marrett, M. McGrath, R. Way, A. Milne Best Players: R. Kimberley, M. McGrath, A. Goudge, T. Snaith, B. Cooney, B. Kronk Netball Report By Elise Woolfe Our A grade girls remain undefeated and are now at the top of the ladder. Stand out performances from our goalers Caitlin Maher and Laura Corrick once again. Sadly, due to injury Samantha George is benched for a minimum of 2 weeks. Her spot in goal defence will be very hard to fill. The team is showing improvement every week. Very exciting year ahead for this team. B grade went down by 20 goals this week. We struggled against a very well built Fitzroy team. Tayla Jackson was a stand out in the mid court and also named best on court performance for the night. Melanie Smith had her first week back from injury and contributed well to the defensive end. We as a team are confident going into round 4, learning from this loss. 4

It was a very close game with both teams playing well. At the half time break Kilmore were up by 2 goals but changes in positions by the Kilmore side saw Bundoora take the lead in the third. The fourth quarter saw the ball go up and down the court a lot before goals were scored. Amazing effort in defence from Monique Rosewall and Hailey Wright as well as the consistent improvement of Madelyn Bell and Jenyca Bryant have made Kilmore a little more competitive each week. Special mention to Aleisha Munro who ran centre for the first half after normally playing Goal keeper in previous weeks. This week sees Kilmore take on Thomastown 5, we hope to post our first win for the season. Riverwood Group RJ Garage Doors Shearer Homes Simon Yu Pharmacies Steph Ryan Kilmore Trackside Vic Con Victory Meats Vicwide Platforms & Safety Rails Warialda Belted Galloways Yahoo Driving School The Kilmore Football Netball club would like to send thanks for the contribution Kilmore Trackside made towards our club. The netball girls were given the opportunity to run a raffle at Kilmore Trackside every Friday night last year and from this were able to purchase all new balls and agility equipment for the 2016 season. In addition to these items we decided to use the rest of the money towards upgrading our much needed canteen, which has not had a revamp for a number of years. We purchased a new bain-marie, fryer and smaller equipment for the canteen. We would also like to thank all the netball girls that put aside their Friday nights to help us raise this money for the club and also to Kilmore Trackside for giving us the opportunity to do so. 5
