The board met on the 15 th of January. It was a board decision to raise the cart price to $8 for 9 holes and $16 for 18 holes. With the price of gas and other expenses going up we felt it was necessary. We hope to use the extra money to raise money for capital expenses such as new carts. We hope that everyone understands why we are doing it. Our cost to keep the golf course in good shape is going up all the me. We want to keep Lake Valley a golf course for all of us to be proud of. The Chili Contest was a huge success. Dan Righter was the first place winner & Be y Beal, Barbara France & Diane Blake all ed for second. Our next Stag Night will be Tuesday, February 25 th. The cost of this Stag dinner is $10 which includes 6 raffle ckets. Anyone who wishes to volunteer to help on this commi ee can contact me. I would appreciate the help. Hello & Good Day, As we start 2014 we have been trimming trees, cu ng trees and cleaning up the area between #12 green, #17 tee and the prac ce range. I would like to thank everyone that has joined the Green Commi ee. Their knowledge and insight on the course makes it much easier for us to plan projects and improvements. The remainder of the winter we will con nue to clean up on #12, sand and paint tee markers and ball washers and service the cart fleet and maintenance equipment. We have scheduled March 3 rd for greens aera on, with a bad weather date of March 10 th. I would like to thank the maintenance staff, they did an outstanding job in 2013 and we are looking forward to 2014! Since the golf course is located in a valley next to the lake we often have frost even when others around the area do not. The golf course will remain closed each day until such time as the frost thaws enough to make playing safe for the turf. If you have an early tee time, you can call ahead to check on the day s conditions. GOLF NEWS Bag Storage and Locker Rental The club offers golf bag storage and locker rentals for both men and women. If anyone would like to take advantage of these handy services, just contact Dan or Andi and we can get you signed up. The annual billing will go out in January. If you currently u lize either of these services and no longer want them, please no fy the Pro Shop for a billing adjustment. Winter Golf Cart Traffic New this year, golf cart traffic will remain 90 degrees unless weather dictates something else. We do ask that you use cart paths whenever possible and drive in the Green Grass areas as much as possible when not on the paths. Please con nue to keep the carts away from the tees and greens to avoid damage to these sensi ve areas. 2

Hole in One Congratula ons to Kevin Rothove for his recent Hole-in-One on hole # 2 to start off the new year. Kevin s very first Ace was registered on January 1 st while playing with Dan Righter and Charlie Carr. Fortunately for Kevin most golfers were s ll recovering from the New Year s Eve fes- vi es, so the bar bill was kept to a minimum. Congratula ons Kevin, just 40 more hole-in-ones and you match your bowling 300 s! Congratula ons Kevin! The Board of directors decided at the January mee ng that beginning March 1 st of 2014 golf cart pricing will increase by $1.00 per player per nine holes. This increase will make the new price for member carts at $8.00 per player for 9 holes and $16.00 per player for 18 holes. 3

Whether you are a die hard bingo player or just looking for a fun night with your friends, you are welcome to join the excitement. During the upcoming year the Board has directed staff to increase their focus on customer service. We are in the process of updating all of the Lake Valley brochures and are asking for help from the members. Meet Dennis Petersen Lake Valley s Environmental Specialist Dennis moved to Camdenton from Waterloo, Iowa in He s been married for 44 years (congratulations) and has two daughters and two grandsons (both attending ISU). In Iowa Dennis worked for John Deere and retired in In addition, Dennis and his wife raised exotic animals for 25 years they still have three dogs. Dennis loves to fish and golf. Dennis says the dumbest thing he has ever done was buy a black bear. (Hmmm we might need details later.) Dennis says the smartest thing he has ever done was move to the Lake and of course join this wonderful family at LVCC! 8
