2 From Your Board of Directors We haven t been having very nice weather this past few weeks. Not much golfing going on. We want to welcome new social member Marilyn Hartman. We do have a lot of socials coming up. Be sure to look at the calendar in the newsletter. Please come out to the socials if you can and help support the club. The Social Committee is planning a Christmas Cheer Party on Sunday, December 7 th. They are asking each to bring a appetizer or dessert and a White Elephant gift if they would like to participate in the exchange. They are also planning a New Year s Eve Party for December 31 st. Look for more information on that later. Congratulations to Barb France for winning the soup cookoff. John was pleased with the turnout. About 50 people attended with 12 soups in contest. As we have been doing for the past few years, we are asking if the members would like to donate to the employee Christmas Fund. It is to thank the hourly employees for all of their hard work the past year. If anyone wishes to do so just send it in to the office. If you have any ques ons or sugges ons, contact one of your board members. This fee is necessary to generate the revenue to offset their upkeep and replacement. Of course, you are s ll free to use your own pull carts at no charge. Bag Storage and Locker Rental The club offers golf bag storage and locker rentals for both men and women. If anyone would like to take advantage of these handy services, just contact Dan or Andi and we can get you signed up. Hello and good day! As we enter the winter months, I would like to remind everyone of the cart rules. 90 Degree rules are in effect but please try to drive in the green grass areas and cart paths wherever possible. We recently planted some new trees around the course and have been busy removing stumps, leaves, fallen limbs and the last remaining walnuts the remainder of the me. The work will shi indoors with the colder temps for machine repair and servicing. Thanks again to all the staff for their hard work. 3 Important Reminders Frost Reminder With the coming of colder temperatures we have begun the daily frost watch. Since the golf course is located in a valley next to the lake, we o en have frost even when others around the area do not. The golf course will remain closed each day un l such me as the frost thaws enough to make playing safe for the turf. If you have an early tee me, you can call ahead to check on the day s condi ons. The Clubhouse will be closed on Christmas Day Please make arrangements ahead if you will need your clubs and/or something from the clubhouse. However, if the weather permits, the gate will be opened for walking the course. The clubhouse will be closed all day. The December BUNCO will be Thursday, December 18th. We will bring an appetizer and have a gift exchange before playing BUNCO. Call Priscilla to sign up. Party Bridge Lake Valley Party Bridge is on Wednesdays. We will order off the menu and John will have some specials for us also. Winter Golf Cart Traffic Again this year, golf cart traffic will remain 90 degrees unless weather dictates something else. We do ask that you use cart paths whenever possible and drive in the Green Grass areas as much as possible when not on the paths. Please con nue to keep the carts away from the tees and greens to avoid damage to these sensi ve areas. Request for E Mail Addresses In an effort to better communicate with the membership, we are asking that everyone please give your current e mail address to the Business Office. You can either include it with your monthly statement or e mail it to LVCC@lakevalleygolf.com We are currently missing many member addresses from our current listing and would like to have everyone included in all e mail future communications. You can take advantage of the many year end merchandise specials or special order something you have been wan ng. Make arrangements now to avoid losing your hard earned winnings. 4

5 Inside the Greenside Bar and Grill From Greenside Bar & Grill Greenside Bar & Grill will be closed Christmas Eve at 12:00 PM and all day Christmas day so the employees can spend me with their family. I would like to congratulate the winners of our Lake Valley Bocce Ball Tournament November 9 th with 1 st place winners Jeff & June Langley and 2 nd Place Be y Beal & Donna Woelbling. Thank you all par cipants in the tournament it was a lot of fun and great weather. The Soup Contest was another great hit and the 1 st place winner was Barb France with her Cream of Chicken Rice, We had a 3 way e for 2 nd place Carol Goldman, Pricilla, Stuart, Kathy Gale I would like to thank all the par cipants. In December the kitchen will be open 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM daily, a limited menu of appe zers and pizzas are available a er 4:00 PM un l close. Please sign up at Greenside Bar so we will know how many to expect. A $6 admission fee will include all the toppings for chili dogs and snacks. Person providing Chili will receive 2 FREE admissions. John s career in the food & beverage industry began in 1976 in a hotel in Marco Island, FL. In 1979 he moved to Lake of the Ozarks and spent his first summer employed at The Lodge of Four Seasons for the Koplar family. John worked under the well known Chef Andre Torres team and then during the off-season he would return to Marco Island for the winter but was always anxious to come back to the Lake again in the late spring. In 1985 John moved to Missouri full time and has resided in the lake area raising his 3 sons. John has 4 grandchildren from his two older sons and his youngest son recently graduated college. John enjoys spending time with family and in his spare time he loves the outdoors; hunting, fishing, canoeing and camping. August 2014 John celebrated 2 years at Lake Valley and as he reflects back over the past 2 years he is amazed at the friendships that have been created. John is looking forward to future years and successes here at the club. 6
