2 From the General Manager Hello Royce Brook Members, The management and staff of Royce Brook are looking forward to making 2015 the best year ever for member programming and we are open to any new ideas or suggestions that can help us create a fun and enjoyable membership experience. With the New Year right around the corner, we are looking for members to volunteer and be on some of our new committees, including an Advisory Board, Men s Golf Association, and Women s Golf Association. If you would like to volunteer or to nominate anyone to be on these boards we would greatly appreciate your input. Also, don t forget about our great member referral program. And you can find Royce Brook on the web. Check out our Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram pages to stay updated on all events and giveaways or you can pick up a copy of the newsletter when you visit the club house. Between the play of two holes a player must not make a practice stroke, except that he may practice putting or chipping on or near: the putting green of the hole last played, any practice putting green, or the teeing ground of the next hole to be played in the round, provided a practice stroke is not made from a hazard and does not unduly delay play (Rule 6-7). Player Responsibility Please in the spirit of the game take care of your course by smoothing bunkers, replacing divots and repairing ball marks on the greens. Teaching Tip COVER THE GOLF BALL WITH YOUR RIGHT HAND Understand that your hands control the club head. Ideally you want to swing down so you can catch the ball on the center of the clubface. A great way to learn how your hands dictate this action is to put your club head in the palm of your right hand and mimic a swing, paying close attention to how the hand has to move to catch the ball on the center of the face. The right hand has to move so the palm is facing down at impact, like it s covering the golf ball. Enjoy the fall! Chas Sarlund Head PGA Professional Final clean-up of the leaves is almost finished for We have removed a large dead tree on the East Course on hole 11. Also, we have rebuilt both bunkers. During October in select areas, dead trees were removed and some trees pruned. The most noticeable spot, is on the West course on hole 7, and on the East Course on hole 11. On November 10th and 11th the irrigation system will be winterized. We are still in the process of cutting fescues and cleaning leaves. P FROM THE ROYCE BROOK RECIPE FILES: Crab Cakes Classic recipe for authentic Maryland Crab Cakes Recipe: 1 # can backfin crabmeat ½ c. Mayonnaise 2 t. Dijon mustard ½ t. Old bay seasoning 1t.

Creole tartar sauce (recipe to follow) Procedure: Heat oven to 350 degrees -in a mixing bowl, combine mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, old bay seasoning, Tabasco, tartar sauce, lemon juice, eggs and

Tabasco ½ c. Prepared tartar sauce 1t. Fresh lemon juice 1 egg, beaten 1 t. Parsley 2 c. Breadcrumbs, plain S/p to taste Oil (for sautéing) 1 ½ c. Creole tartar sauce (recipe to follow) Procedure: Heat oven to 350 degrees -in a mixing bowl, combine mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, old bay seasoning, Tabasco, tartar sauce, lemon juice, eggs and parsley- blend together. -Delicately fold in crabmeat- -Slowly incorporate breadcrumbs with rubber spatula until cake-like Consistency is formed. -Divide mix into 8-4 ounce cakes -Heat a sauté pan, add oil- -When hot, add crab cakes, cook until golden brown. -Gently flip cakes over and brown on other side: -Place cakes on sheet tray, place in oven: -Cook 10 minutes -Place on plate, serve with Creole tartar sauce. Creole tartar sauce: 8 oz. Prepared tartar sauce 2 t. Whole grain, prepared, mustard 1t. Dijon mustard 1 t. Scallion -COMBINE ALL INGREDIENTS IN A MIXING BOWL, STIR TOGETHER Enjoy!
