15 Teen Center Presents Explore Kodiak July 2018 MWR Teen Center members are invited to join us as we explore the beautiful island of Kodiak. Please come prepared with a sack lunch & water bottle. Please leave valuables at home, the Teen Center staff is not responsible for lost or left behind items. Dress appropriate for weather and elements (sun, rain, bugs, etc). Hikers will meet at the Teen Center at 12:00pm and return by 6:00pm. *Must be MWR eligible, ages July 5th, Tide Pooling, Fort Abercrombie has so much to offer, from the history that it holds, to the spectacular views of the island. Together we will trek out for fun day of exploring, tide pooling and a picnic on the beach. July 12th, Healthy Lifestyles, Our day will start at the Teen Center where a guest speaker will teach us about what it means to live a healthy lifestyle, followed by a hike to the Star & Nyman Peninsula Lake. July 19th, Nature Photography, Have an interest in photography? Love to be outside? This is the day for you! Cameras will be provided by the Kodiak Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center for use during our hike and a guide will show us how to capture the best image on a hike to Termination Point! Please note that this is our longest hike of the summer (just over 6 miles)! Hiking shoes/boots, water, snacks & a sack lunch are required. July 26th, All About Kodiak, Now that we have explored the great outdoors, it s time to get back inside and learn about Kodiak s rich history from a visit to the Baranov Museum, Alutiiq Museum and Kodiak Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center. Please bring a sack lunch as we will be having a picnic & field games at Sargent Park. *These events require advance sign-up.
