3 The rganisation t t t t t t t t t t t Walking on Sunshine F U D A T I UR STRUCTURE Walking on Sunshine Foundation (AB ) (the Foundation) is a charitable trust, registered as a charity with the Australian Charities and ot-forprofits Commission. The Foundation is endorsed as a Deductible Gift Recipient under s 30BA of the Income Tax Assessment Act Donations of $2 and over are tax deductible. Walking on Sunshine Limited AC , the trustee of the Foundation, is a company limited by guarantee, established under the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth) solely for the purpose of acting as the Foundation s trustee. As such, Walking on Sunshine Limited does not have shareholders or a share capital. Walking on Sunshine Limited is governed by its Board of Directors, which consists of Tanya Munro, Joanne Walker and Anne Stanton. UR MISSI The Walking on Sunshine Foundation is carrying out the charitable purpose of advancing health. But what exactly does this mean? The Board s primary role is to ensure that the activities of the Foundation are directed towards achieving its charitable objective and mission, to actively continue the fight against cancer with commitment, dedication and innovation, so that we one day see a world without cancer. Walking on Sunshine is solely dedicated to providing: RESEARCH funds for cancer research, research scholarships and fellowships; SUPPRT support to people fighting cancer; and EDUCATI actively raising awareness to the public through education. This year, proceeds from the 2016 Race Day will be donated to the QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute. The Foundation is looking to optimise its impact through strategic partnership and investment with companies and people who are as passionate about this cause as we are. HISTRY F THE FUDATI 2015 was a significant milestone for Walking on Sunshine, which had been carrying out fundraising activities for melanoma and cancer research for the past 13 years.

Walking on Sunshine s significant history has also seen it take part in the Rio Tinto Ride to Conquer Cancer in 2012 and 2013, the Weekend to End Women s Cancers in 2014, the Melanoma Institute

7 HISTRY F THE FUDATI 2015 was a significant milestone for Walking on Sunshine, which had been carrying out fundraising activities for melanoma and cancer research for the past 13 years. Walking on Sunshine has now grown throughout the Brisbane charity and social scene, prompting the creation of the Foundation. Walking on Sunshine s significant history has also seen it take part in the Rio Tinto Ride to Conquer Cancer in 2012 and 2013, the Weekend to End Women s Cancers in 2014, the Melanoma Institute Australia s Melanoma March, as well as hosting seven gala dinners towards this cause. Under the banner of Walking on Sunshine, more than $250,000 in crucial funds has been raised for melanoma and cancer research. ver the past 13 years, Walking on Sunshine has demonstrated its capability and commitment to effectively and creatively champion cancer research, support and education. The Walking on Sunshine Foundation is now prepared to utilise these capabilities on a grander scale and promote its vision through its transformative new brand. ABUT UR FUDER: AIE S STRY Meet Anne Stanton, the founder and Chairman of the Walking on Sunshine Foundation. This year marks Anne s 29th year of surviving melanoma 19 with metastasis. Anne was first diagnosed with choroidal malignant melanoma in 1987 aged just 27 years old. Anne underwent surgery, which took her eye and marked the beginning of a very long battle. In July 1997, Anne was diagnosed with secondary melanoma. 60% of her liver was removed and the fear for her life returned. Unlike the first time, this terrible disease didn t give Anne years to build up strength. It returned again and again over the next 18 years, attacking various parts of her body. But through these tough times, she has always demonstrated immense courage. In 2003, Anne commenced her first fundraising gala dinner fondly called Walking on Sunshine named after Anne s favourite song by Katrina and the Waves. She decided to call her fundraiser Walking on Sunshine to remind everyone that while it is important to take time in life to appreciate a sunny climate, we must be very cautious of the sun with Queenslanders facing the highest rate of skin cancer in the world. While a cure is yet to be found, medical research has helped Anne with her battle and inroads are being made into melanoma treatments which are prolonging life and hopefully working towards that cure... and it is a CURE that we want. Anne is a pillar of incredible strength and her determination to fight her disease as well as her amazing selflessness is the driving force behind the Walking on Sunshine Foundation.
