Around 75 riders had attended round 2 last month and the club were pleasantly surprised that this final round attracted close to 130 riders a record!

Mansfield MCC has been running a grass track series for a few years now and we had recently got wind of it and with the hint that they would be having vintage bikes we couldn t resist taking a trip up north. So me and photographer Jo, along with Aaron Bonfadini (#104, Ciscos Race Tuning, Chads Off-Road Setups), set off on a beaut winters morning to Barwite near Mansfield for the third and final round of the grass track Series. And great to see a big sign as we entered the town telling everyone the event was on, so we knew the locals were on board. Jim the local farmer owns a huge parcel of land and happily lets the club take over for these events. Around 75 riders had attended round 2 last month and the club were pleasantly surprised that this final round attracted close to 130 riders a record! It seems some of you have been studying your Scooter News race calendar as we saw a few familiar faces as we set up camp. After sign in and riders briefing each class had two sighting laps, the first one was following behind the sweep and the second lap was, well, a free for all. I ended up taking my RM250D 1983 which I had ridden down at Krusics Ride Park the other week and thought I d give it another run, as it s such a good bike. I was entered in two classes Senior 250 Lites and the Senior Rec/Vintage and up we rolled to the lacky band. Senior Lites Frank Gogol monos to the corner Elizabeth Lee centre stage The specifications for the vintage bikes were very loose (pre 90 mainly, anything goes) as there were no trophies awarded in this class, it was just for fun so great to see a few VERi Vinduro guys having a go. My best racing was in amongst the vintage bikes which was what I had really come here for and with only 5 of us racing they put us in with the Recreational class along with the modern bikes a line up of bikes on the start gate.
