With the Dandenong MCC motocross champs in full swing it was time for the other side of the club s activities, the off-road champs to wind up for the year.

2 With the Dandenong MCC motocross champs in full swing it was time for the other side of the club s activities, the off-road champs to wind up for the year. Round 8, sponsored by MK1 Motorcycles and presented by A1 Windscreens, was the last in the series and finished off with sprints at Wonthaggi on Saturday. The off-road team had been hard at work mapping out a 7-8 minute sprint track on Friday which took the riders through the first turns of the mx track and out into the bush beyond, coming back through the extreme section and then a quick detour into a grassy paddock before finishing back at the mx track. Me and photographer Jo only made it to the last of the sprints due to Saturday morning work commitments, just in time to see Jake Blackwood, Kyle Bernhard and Aaron Bonfadini lead out the group. Their times had been close over the second half of the event after Aaron had fixed a flat tyre and sorted out a transponder issue. Late-in results show Jake took the outright win. After a pleasant evening dining at Kilcunda Ocean View Hotel (which has a hookey game and a dart board) we rolled back into the track around 8am on Sunday morning for round 2 of the three round club champs. Glenn Capuano was rounding up flaggies and track waterers so the racing could get underway don t forget to bring someone with you to help out or you will need to give a hand, it is a club champs not a state series where everything is provided. Scrutineering Cappa The track had taken a fair bit of punishment from the ATV MX Nationals the weekend prior and some areas were still a bit hard and skatey, and a strong north-westerly wind added to the conditions to challenge the riders. But everyone applied some common sense and the day was generally smooth sailing. And we have had our eye on young Yamaha motocrosser/supercrosser Angus Gelly #330 for a few years too and he is just wrapping up his first year in seniors with Victorian titles in B Lites and B 4

5 Open. Today they were both in A Open and Aaron was soon getting his race craft sorted. Race one saw him battling into third position just behind fast starter Tom Carroll #31, with Angus Gelly a long way ahead. Race two Aaron was second into the holeshot corner behind Tom Carroll and quickly passed him to lead for a brief moment before he lost the front end and stalled. Coming from dead last Aaron climbed back to about sixth by the chequered flag, which was taken once again by Angus Gelly. It all had to come together in the last race. Aaron was fourth into the first corner and picked his way quickly through the front runners to reel in Angus Gelly, gradually narrowing the gap before Angus binned it and Aaron was able to squeeze past. Angus was lightning fast back on the pace to chase Aaron down, managing to pass him again half way around the last lap, only a second would have split them at the finish line. And to put it into perspective Angus was on a 250. Things didn t quite go to plan for our defence of last year s clean sweep in the Seniors, Juniors and Womens but there is still plenty to be proud of from the team. First up the Yamaha Blu Cru Women s World Trophy Team of Jessica Gardiner, Tayla Jones and Jemma Wilson achieved a fourth (yup 4) back to back title an incredible result especially considering both Tayla and Jessica had been sidelined with injuries this year. 12

Jessica Gardiner: So that concludes another ISDE here in Spain! We did it, thanks to the best team mates in the world!

Bummer about day 1 for me individually but super happy to be back riding a lot better and finding my feet again!

Congrats to all the women from around the World, it was certainly one of the most exciting years to see every single test time who would be on top!

13 Jessica Gardiner: So that concludes another ISDE here in Spain! We did it, thanks to the best team mates in Team Australia women are bringing home the #1 trophy for the 4th year in a row! Really happy for my times to have contributed to the team 4 out of the 6 days! Bummer about day 1 for me individually but super happy to be back riding a lot better and finding my feet again! We have had some fun out there along the way on the 300 and to come away second overall, and winning the E3 class, I am pretty stoked with it, Sanders shared. We have learnt a bit this year and are ready for next year, where will have another crack at it. It has just been an awesome time with the whole of team Australia and the supporters. We couldn t do it without all the guys who support us all. It feels good to finish second. Unfortunately, mistakes cost it for me, but that happens. Winning the E3 class again was awesome, I had a good lead in the end. Today on day six I just didn t get a good jump off the gate and it buried me mid pack. I just carried through and tried to make as many passes as possible. We only rode for eight minutes and it was the most intense eight minutes you could ride on a bike. It s good training for the four day, so we will be ready for that, Sanders concluded. It s a shorter, punchier, less challenging version of the notorious Transmoto 12-Hour, which has been running since 2011, but still caters to riders of all levels. And, in keeping with the 12-Hour s successful recipe, the 6-Hour focuses on fun-factor rather than officialdom. The inaugural Conondale Transmoto 6-Hour was held at the legendary Green Park circuit in Queensland, featuring sections of the world-famous motocross track, creek crossings, lush rainforest, hill climbs, grasstrack and flowing bush tracks crafted by the Sunshine Coast MCC crew. Our mate Shaun Baker and his riding partner Glenn Mustard headed over to give it go and met one of the legends of our sport just back from Morocco: Toby Price Allira Batstone Photography Toby and Shaun s son 16

Wow what a weekend! Things were going awesome and we sat in 11 th overall and probably leading or close to in the Teams of 2 Category on 125s in a field of about 150-200 bikes.

But never the less out of 150+ riders we were in 11 th and right up the front according to the transponders - I was kinda blown away at my first crack at an enduro.

Then after about 3-4 hrs, the red flag came out and the race had to re start. We started in row 3 right behind the pros who clearly are next level at this sh*t. But never the less out of 150+ riders we were in 11 th and right up the front according to the transponders - I was kinda blown away at my first crack at an enduro. But I had a bloody good team mate Glenn Mustard who was getting around fast and pushing us up the number board. But it all went to sh*t after the restart. With the dust visibility was at a meter and I high sided and went sailing for a bit but was OK luckily, and Glenn was having major full body cramp issues. Decided to pull the pin on the day as I got a lot more important things in life to worry about than trying to finish a 6 hr motorbike event. Will definitely do more and try pull a win in our class next time. Fingers crossed for rain.
