Georgia arrives in Knoxville sporting records of 12-2 overall and 1-0 in SEC play following Sunday s victory over Arkansas. Jasmine Hassell s 19 points paced four Lady Bulldogs in double figures against the Razorbacks. Hassell, a native of Lebanon, Tenn., who was a two-time Class AAA Miss Basketball at Wilson Central High, has been very impressive of late. In Georgia s last 10 games, she is contributing 16.1 points by connecting on 63.6 percent of her FGs and 74.0 percent of her FTs. Hassell is the Lady Bulldogs leading scorer at 14.4 ppg, while Khaalidah Miller (13.5), Jasmine James (10.8) and Anne Marie Armstrong (10.8) also contribute double-digit averages Lady Bulldog Basketball Roster No. Name pos. Spani has missed s last three games, however. Series history with sports a lead in the overall series with Georgia, including a 17-4 edge in Knoxville. The Lady Volunteers are the lone SEC team with a winning record over Georgia. On the flip side, the Lady Bulldogs 15 victories over the Lady Vols represents the second-most by any program...tying Maryville College and trailing only Louisiana Tech s 17. Georgia and last met in the semifinals of the 2011 SEC Tournament in Nashville, with the Lady Volunteers securing an win. After started the contest on a 16-2 run, Georgia scored seven straight to pull within seven. The Lady Vols put the game away with a 12-2 second-half run that pushed a 12-point lead to 22. A complete box score from that outing as well as game-by-game results in the series can be found on Page 3 of these Game Notes. Last Time Out... Jasmine Hassell s team-high 19 points led No. 17 Georgia to a victory over the Arkansas Sunday afternoon. For the third straight game, four Lady Bulldogs put up double-digit points. Anne Marie Armstrong scored 15 points, while Khaalidah Miller and Meredith Mitchell scored 12 points apiece. We have the ability to be a very balanced team, Andy Landers said. They play unselfishly and share the ball. They all have the ability to score. Today, they executed the game plan very well. After trailing Arkansas for a better portion of the first 10 minutes, back-toback three-pointers from Erika Ford and Armstrong tied the game at with 10:07 left in the period.

3 Lady Bulldogs vs. Game Notes Page 3 Over the next 10 minutes, the Lady Bulldogs outscored the Razorbacks 20-10, entering the locker room with a lead. Georgia started the second half much like it ended the first, with a 12-4 run that lasted five minutes. Treys by Armstrong and Mitchell increased the Lady Bulldog lead to with 6:28 left in the game. Arkansas made a surge late, scoring 11 points in the last three minutes, but it was too little too late. Ford earns SEC Freshman honor Erika Ford was named SEC Freshman of the Week on Monday, after averaging 9.5 points and 6.0 rebounds in Lady Bulldog victories over Furman and Arkansas. Ford, a 5-9, guard from Alpharetta, scored 14 points and grabbed a gamehigh 10 rebounds against the Paladins to post the first double-double of her career. Ford scored 12 first-half points to lead Georgia to a season-best 49 points prior to intermission. Against Arkansas, Ford came off the bench to make an immediate impact. She scored five of the first eight points in a 21-4 run that turned a 16-7 deficit into a lead. For the season, Ford is averaging 6.4 points and 3.4 rebounds for the Lady Bulldogs, including four double-figure scoring outputs. All told, eight different Georgia freshman including current Lady Bulldogs Jasmine Hassell, Jasmine James and Khaalidah Miller have combined to earn SEC Freshman of the Week honors 19 times since the award s inception in James returns to lineup Jasmine James returned to action and logged 36 minutes of PT against Arkansas after missing Georgia s games against Appalachian State and Furman with a sprained knee. Quoting Coach Landers... On the SEC opener against Arkansas... It was a great win. You re always excited when you get to conference because you know you re playing a quality, well-coached basketball team. That s what we had with Arkansas. I think individually and collectively Georgia played well. On facing... It s always a blast. I personally look forward to going to Knoxville and playing. You know that you re always playing one of the most talented basketball teams in the country and a very well-coached basketball team, so it s a great challenge and a great atmosphere. James, who leads Georgia and is among SEC leaders by ranking sixth in assists, third in steals, 10th in assistto TOs and second in minutes played, had been sidelined with a knee sprain suffered during the Montana State game on Dec. 20. Andy Landers believes playing two contests without James will ultimately benefit the Lady Bulldogs I think it s going to be invaluable, Landers said. Having to play without Jasmine James has changed the way some other people play. I think the willingness to handle the basketball and do certain things against pressure has made them and made us better. UGA, UT again a ranked affair Georgia and are No. 16 and No. 6 in this week s edition of the Associated Press poll. Both the Lady Bulldogs and Lady Volunteers now have been ranked at game time for 47 of 57 meetings, including 18 times when both squads possessed top-10 positions. Just winners, baby! Anne Marie Armstrong, Erika Ford, Jasmine James, Khaalidah Miller and Meredith Mitchell also have led Georgia offensively. Seven Lady Bulldogs add Krista Donald to the aforementioned ledger have a combined 46 double-digit scoring performances of the year. We re a balanced basketball team, Andy Landers said. I thought we would be going, and I think we will be all year. I think on any given night, anyone of about seven or eight players could step up and be very, very big for us. A massive tally of W s The combined victories inside the coaching boxes for tonight s game between Georgia and equals the most in the history of women s college basketball. Andy Landers and Pat Summitt have recorded 867 and 1,081 wins, respectively, during their careers. That combines for a staggering 1,948 Ws the same tally accumulated when faced Rutgers on Dec. 13, 2011, when Summitt (1,076) coached against C. Vivian Stringer (872). The third-most combined wins between two coaches (1,919) came when UGA and UT met in last season s SEC Tournament semifinals. Fourth on the ledger was the recent contest between and Stanford on Dec. 20, At that point, Summitt (1,078) and Tara VanDerveer (833) had notched a combined 1,911 career victories. Summitt and Landers also are 1-2 on several lists, including weeks in the AP poll, NCAA bids, Sweet 16s and consecutive winning seasons as outlined in the next column. 5 Lady Bulldogs vs. Game Notes Page 5 Mitchell Graduates Meredith Mitchell s roster status could have changed from Sr. to Gr. on Dec. 16 when she became the 59th of 59 four-year letterwinners to earn their degree from UGA during Andy Landers 33 seasons in Athens. Mitchell secured her bachelor s in Management from the prestigious Terry College of Business. It s a relief to be done, Mitchell said. It s hard to believe that my undergraduate career is over. It was a little stressful this week with practice and finals but it s really just time management.. Not only have all 59 four-year letterwinners graduated, two (Tina Taylor and Jaleesa Rhoden) earned three additional degrees combined during extra years of eligibility due to injuries. Awarding extra credit for those extra diplomas earned while eligible bumps the graduation rate of Landers four-year letterwinners to 105 percent. From Humble Beginnings While large crowds and television cameras have become regular fixtures in games between Georgia and, that wasn t always the case. On Dec. 17, 1980, the Lady Bulldogs and Lady Volunteers met for the first time. That day, No. 6 captured a OT win over a then obscure bunch from Athens at the Cobb Civic Center in Marietta, Ga. A packed house all 2,811 of them was there for the first edition of what has become one of the sport s top rivalries. At that point, Andy Landers and Pat Summitt had combined to record 176 wins between them at UGA and UT. They have since posted 1,772 more Ws for their same employers. Hoops most complete rivalry? It would be difficult to find two conference rivals in basketball if not in any sport who have met for as many significant stakes as the Lady Bulldogs and the Lady Volunteers. Not even North Carolina and Duke on the men s side can approach what Georgia and have competed for in the women s game. The Lady Bulldogs and Lady Vols have squared off with virtually everything fathomable from prideful bragging rights to the sport s ultimate prize on the line, including: The 1996 NCAA Championship; The 1995 Final Four NCAA semifinals; The Elite Eight round of the 1983 and 1984 NCAA Tournaments; The Sweet 16 of the 1986 NCAAs; The championship game of the 1992 and 1999 SEC Tourneys. In addition, the Lady Bulldogs and Lady Vols produced the only tie for the SEC title in 2000 and also finished 1-2 in the SEC standings in 1984, 1995, 1996 and Georgia strong in SEC openers Georgia s win over Arkansas improved the Lady Bulldogs to 25-5 in SEC openers since the league began administering women s basketball during the season. The Lady Bulldogs are an even more impressive 14-2 when beginning conference play at Stegeman Coliseum. Rare league opener versus Hogs This season marked just the second time and the first in two decades the Lady Bulldogs opened SEC play against the Razorbacks since they joined the conference in Unranked Georgia upset No. 20 Arkansas, 79-62, in Fayetteville on Dec. 19, That contest represented the then-lady Razorbacks first-ever SEC contest. Peach State products on display senior Alicia Manning is a native of Woodstock, Ga., where she played at Etowah High. Facing Georgia natives is something the Lady Bulldogs will do regularly in SEC play. Ten conference teams everyone but and feature a combined 20 players from the Peach State. The Lady Bulldogs roster sports five home state standouts. Taking advantage of the charity Georgia has improved dramatically at the free throw line of late. Through the first six games of the season, the Lady Bulldogs were a relatively woeful 59-of-101 from the free throw line, just 58.4 percent. In its last eight outings, Georgia has converted on 117-of-164 trips to the charity stripe, a sterling 71.3 percent conversion rate. UGA is now shooting a very respectable 66.4 percent for the year. Georgia hitting its magic number The Lady Bulldogs have furthered one of the greatest statistical indicators in any sport six times this season. The Lady Bulldogs have scored 80 or more points on six occasions and in the process improved to when scoring 80 or more during Andy Landers 33 seasons at the University of Georgia. Andy Landers At-a-Glance Coaching Milestones: 2009 State of Georgia Sports Hall of Fame inductee 2007 Women s Basketball Hall of Fame inductee Became the sixth women s hoops coach to reach 750 wins at four-year schools with UGA s victory over Oklahoma State on March 22, 1010 and only the third to have 750 at one school, joining Pat Summitt and Jody Conradt Became the State of Georgia s winningest college hoops coach with a Dec. 06 win over Georgia Tech Four-time National Coach of the Year (1986, 1987, 1996, 2000) No. 4 with 742 wins since when women s hoops came under auspices of NCAA (behind only Pat Summitt, Tara VanDerveer and Geno Auriemma) Graduation rate of 105 percent among four-year letterwinners at UGA Five NCAA Final Four appearances (1983, 85, 95, 96, 99) Bids to 28 of 30 NCAA Tournaments (second-best nationally) 7 SEC Championships (1983, 84, 86, 91, 96, 97, 2000) 4 SEC Tournament Championships (1983, 84, 86, 2001) Three National s of the Year (Katrina McClain, 1987; Saudia Roundtree, 1996; Kelly Miller, 2000) 21 s to the WNBA 13 WNBA draft picks in the last 11 years, including eight first-round selections 35 s who competed professionally Two U.S. Olympians who have won a combined six Gold Medals

The six 80-plus outings in the first 13 games represented one more than the Lady Bulldogs produced in the past two seasons combined. Hassell earns all-tourney honor Jasmine Hassell was named to the all-tournament team at the Las Vegas Holiday Hoops Classic. She led UGA offensively in both games, averaging 17.0 points by shooting 65.0 percent from the floor and 88.9 percent from the line. Those outings are just a fraction of a very impressive stretch for the junior from Lebanon, Tenn. Hassell has been a double-digit scorer in each of the past nine games, averaging 16.1 points while shooting 63.6 percent from the field and 74.0 percent from the line during that span. The book on boarding: Chapter 1 Freshmen Krista Donald and Erika Ford were active on the glass in Georgia s final two non-conference games. Donald grabbed 13 rebounds against Appalachian State, the most by any Lady Bulldog this season. Ford secured a career-best and game-high 10 rebounds versus Furman en route to a double-double. Ford offered a simple description when asked about her rebounding prowess against the Paladins. I just try to go to where there isn t anyone else and hope that the ball comes to me, Ford quipped. Andy Landers confirmed Ford s assessment of effective rebounding. I call it going where they ain t, Landers said. It sounds simple but it s easier to rebound if you re not behind someone. Erika should give herself a little bit more credit, though. She tracks the ball pretty well. She and Donald both have a pretty good GPS when it comes to rebounding. Updating a classic venue Georgia s historic Stegeman Coliseum, which underwent a $13 million, 21st century facelift prior to the season, received more than $700,000 in additional upgrades before the campaign. The initial renovations focused on the arena s concourses. Those were highlighted by the installation of glass facades from the facility s distinctive overhang roof on the Smith and Carlton Street sides of the venue, creating an additional 10,000 square feet of concourse space. The alterations to the venue won the 2011 American Institute for Architects Georgia Honor Design Award. This fall, the changes addressed the competition arena bowl itself. A new floor utilized during the 2011 NCAA Women s Basketball Championship was purchased and installed, as was a state of the art sound system. All of the aforementioned, coupled with the $30-million, 120,000-square foot practice facility adjacent to the Coliseum that was christened in 2007, have transformed the 48-year-old Coliseum facility into a modern classic. Jones sees action, gets hurt again Ebony Jones saw her first action of the season at Mercer on Dec. 6. Jones missed Georgia s first eight games while recovering from a posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) injury in her left knee. She scored her first points of the year on a nifty catch and layup in transition that supplied the Lady Bulldogs final points of the night. Jones then sprained her right ankle in Georgia s Dec. 16 practice before departing for the Las Vegas Holiday Hoops Classic and did not dress there. She was in uniform for the Appalachian State and Furman games but did not play. Her ankle has improved but swelling to her knee has returned since the holiday break and she did not dress out against Arkansas. Stiffline D versus App State The Lady Bulldogs raced to a halftime lead over Appalachian State on Dec. 22. That represented the fewest points Georgia surrendered in a first half points since holding N.C. Central to six on Nov. 26, 2008.

7 Lady Bulldogs vs. Game Notes Page 7 Equally impressive was that ASU entered the game averaging 72.7 ppg. Wrapping up a busy stretch Georgia completed an extemely busy pre-holiday stretch of games by hosting Appalachian State on Dec. 22. The outing was Georgia s third in four days...with a red-eye flight from Las Vegas sandwiched between. Setback to Zags one for the ages Georgia s loss to Gonzaga at the Las Vegas Holiday Hoops Classic has to be a record for shortest time leading by a winning team. The Zags took their one and only lead with two-tenths of the second on the clock. Georgia scored the game s first six points and led by double-digits most of the contest. The Lady Bulldogs enjoyed their largest lead of 15 points on four occasions, lastly at with 7:12 left. After that, Gonzaga outscored Georgia 22-4, including Haiden Palmer s game-winner with 0.2 left on the clock. Lady Bulldogs hold bike build Wrenches and ratchets were put to good use in the Stegeman Coliseum concourse on Saturday, Dec. 10 as the Georgia Lady Bulldogs conducted their fifth annual Holiday Bicycle Build. The Lady Bulldogs raised more than $2,000 to purchase bikes and helmets for worthy children. Academy Sports + Outdoors donated additional bicycles and helmets, bringing the total to approximately 60. The bikes were distributed through schools in Athens/Clarke and Jackson County that participated in the Reading with the Dogs program, as well as Athens Boys & Girls Club. Lady Bulldog players originated the program five years ago during an early- December break from competition. All told, the Lady Bulldogs have raised funds for, built and given away approximately 275 bikes. One of the things that makes this effort special is that it was and is the players idea and the players execution, Andy Landers said. From the raising of the money to the actual putting together of the bikes, this is their deal. They take great pride in that fact as do I. Solid within the Peach State borders The Lady Bulldogs are 3-0 this season in games against other schools from within Georgia, defeating Georgia Southern, Georgia Tech and Mercer. Those victories improved UGA s alltime record versus in-state competition to (.600). The Lady Bulldogs record versus Peach State competition took a dramatic turn after Andy Landers was named UGA s first and still only full-time head coach in In the six seasons prior to Landers arrival, Georgia was just (.280) against home state opponents. In his 33 campaigns, Georgia has compiled a (.855) mark. Freshman starters sorority grows Krista Donald and Erika Ford added their names to a lengthy and impressive list of first-year Lady Bulldogs to start for Andy Landers against Northeastern on Nov. 27. Donald and Ford became the 68th and 69th freshmen to get the nod in Landers 33 seasons on the sidelines in Athens. Ford posted game- and career-high tallies of 18 points and seven rebounds. Donald chipped in seven points, five rebounds and a team-best four assists. Mitchell stellar against USC Meredith Mitchell, the lone senior on the Lady Bulldogs roster, exploded for a career-high 21 points against No. 23 Southern Cal on Nov. 20. Mitchell keyed an early run that put Georgia in control. She scored 10 in a first-half span of 6:23 as the Lady Bulldogs pushed a four-point edge to 14. The great thing about Meredith s performance was that it was all within reason, Andy Landers said. I didn t think one of her shots was ill-conceived. They were the shots I want her to take. It was good day, about as good as it gets. James earns SEC honor Jasmine James was named SEC of the Week on Nov. 21. James averaged 13.3 points, 7.0 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 2.7 steals during a trio victories the previous week. James scored 16 points on 6-of-9 shooting from the floor in Georgia s win over Georgia Southern on Nov. 15. On Nov. 17, she flirted with a triple-double with game-high tallies of 17 points, seven assists and six steals while also grabbing eight rebounds in a victory over College of Charleston. James led the Lady Bulldogs with nine rebounds and six assists and played all 40 minutes in a win over No. 23 Southern Cal on Nov. 20. James has now earned six weekly honors from the SEC. In , she was tabbed SEC Freshman of the Week a league-record five times. J.J. flirting with triple-double Jasmine James approached tripledouble numbers in two of the first three games of the season. Against TCU, she scored 14 points, dished out nine assists and collected eight steals. Versus College of Charleston, she notched 17 points, eight reoubnds, seven assists and six steals. To put up those kind of numbers, you not only have to play well, you have to play hard, Andy Landers said. J.J. hasn t just played well, she s played extremely hard for extended minutes. She s been very impressive. There are only two double-doubles in UGA history by Teresa Edwards in the 1986 Tourney and Tracy Henderson in the 1995 NCAA Tourney. Longer line produces record 3s The foot added to the distance for the three-point shot in women s basketball from 19-feet, 9-inches to 20-feet, 9-inches didn t seem to concern Georgia or TCU in the Nov. 11 season opener. The Lady Bulldogs tied their record for successful shots behind the arc by hitting 13 treys versus the Horned Frogs. That equaled the baker s dozen made against on Jan. 29, 1997 and Georgia State on Jan. 24, TCU was hot as well and hit 11 threes. In fact, the 24 combined threes represented the most in the history of Lady Bulldog Basketball. It also marked only the sixth time in 773 games played since the three-point arc was introduced to women s basketball in that UGA and its opponent combined to make 20-plus threes (as listed below). 20-plus three-pointers Tot.
