The Spartans lost at Colorado State, 42-14, on November 18. San José State is winless in its last 10 games. Wyoming record: 7-4, 5-2 Mountain West. The Cowboys lost to Fresno State, 13-7, on November 18 ending a three-game winning streak. San José State head coach Brent Brennan: Finishing his first season as a major college head coach. Has a major college head coaching record of 1-10, all at San José State. Brennan returned to San José State after six seasons as a receivers coach at Oregon State. He was a Spartan assistant coach during the 2005 through 2010 seasons. Brennan is 0-0 as a head coach against Wyoming. Wyoming head coach Craig Bohl: Completing his fourth season at Wyoming. Has a record of with the Cowboys. Overall, he is finishing his 15th season as a major college head coach and has a record of He is 0-1 as a head coach against San José State. Series history: The Cowboys lead the series, 6-3. The Spartans have wins in the last two meetings including a overtime triumph in Laramie in The overtime victory is one of three by the Spartans in program history. The last time these teams played in San Jose, San Jose State overcame a 23-7 second-quarter deficit and went to win, 51-44, on October 26, Wyoming's last win in the series was a decision on September 20, 1997 in Laramie. The Cowboys are 4-1 in games played in San Jose. Senior Day: The Wyoming game marks the final home game for 12 San Jose State football seniors. Nine of the 12 played all four of their playing seasons with the Spartans. Wide receivers Brandon Mitchell and David Martinez were members of the 2017 team. Cornerback Jermaine Kelly transferred from the University of Washington in Offensive linemen Jeremiah Kolone, Nate Velichko, Keoni Taylor, and Chris Gonzalez; defensive backs Andre Chachere and Maurice McKnight; defensive lineman Nico Aimonetti; linebacker William Ossai; and punter Michael Carrizosa comprise this year senior class that will be recognized before kickoff. 40 Starts: Offensive linemen Jeremiah Kolone and Nate Velichko and possibly safety Maurice McKnight will finish their San Jose State careers with 40 or more starting calls Velichko leads the team with 42. Kolone started 41 times before an injury ended his season. McKnight has 39 starts before the Wyoming game. Post Thanksgiving: In the last six years, San Jose State is 4-2 in games played on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. In 2016, the Spartans won at Fresno State, San Jose State's last post-thanksgiving win at home was a victory over Fresno State on November 29, 2013.

The last year the Spartans did not win a regular road game was in 2010 when the road schedule included #1-Alabama, #11-Wisconsin, #13- Utah, and #21-Nevada. Four squared: Right guard Chris Gonzalez, linebackers William Ossai and Frank Ginda, and safety Maurice McKnight are the four Spartans to start in every game this season. Thirty-nine (39) players, not counting the special teams positions, have at least one starting game assignment this season. Spartans in top-20 for fumble recoveries: Heading into the Wyoming game, San José State is tied for 15th nationally with 10 fumble recoveries. Western Michigan is the national leader with 16. The last time a Spartan defense recovered at least 10 opponent fumbles in a season was in 2012 when that team tied for second nationally with 17 fumbles recovered. Second time in 2017 turnover margin neutral or positive: The Colorado State game is the second time this season San Jose State was neutral or had a positive turnover ratio. Against Colorado State, the Spartans recovered a fumble and threw a pass interception for a 0.00 turnover margin. San Jose State was +1 in turnover margin in the Cal Poly win. The Spartans' one turnover at Colorado State was a season low. Turnovers plauged Spartans: This season, Spartan opponents have turned 40 turnovers (19 interceptions, 21 fumbles) into 168 points. The Colorado State game is the first game this season an opponent did not turn a Spartan turnover into points. Spartans doing the job covering kickoff returns: Heading into the Wyoming game, San José State is second nationally for fewest kickoff return yardage at 133. The Spartans have produced a touchback on 66.7 percent of kickoffs. Eight kickoff returns are averaging 16.6 yards per return. The longest is 36 yards by Hawai'i's Keelan Ewaliko on October 14. The Spartans, Georgia Southern, Rice and Florida are the five teams that defended a kickoff return less than 10 times this season. Rushing touchdowns picking up: Three of San Jose State's four rushing touchdowns on the season are in the team's last two games. Tyler Nevens' 12-yard touchdown run opened the scoring in the November 11 game at Nevada. Nevens' run was the first rushing touchdown by a Spartan since September 2 when Zamore Zigler scored on a 17-yard fourth-quarter run in the Cal Poly victory. DeJon Packer scored his major college touchdown on a 14-yard run in the first quarter of the November 18 Colorado State game. Malike Roberson raced for the longest Spartan run of the season when he scored from 54 yards away in the fourth quarter at Colorado State. Busiest defense in FBS football: San José State s defense has faced more snaps to date than any other Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) team in games played through November 18. Spartan opponents have combined for 964 snaps. Wake Forest is next closest at 886 for its 11 games played. Ginda named CoSIDA Academic All-District 8: In a vote by College Sports Information Directors of America, Frank Ginda is one of four linebackers to be named Academic All-District 8. The district covers NCAA Division I football programs in California, Arizona, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, Utah and Hawaii. Nominees must have at least sophomore standing at the nominating institution, possess a minimum 3.30 grade point average on a 4,00 scale and be a significant player on one's team. Ginda is a junior majoring in communication studies and has a cumulative grade-point average of 3.43.

The number was the most rushes by the Spartans in a game since the 2016 home win over Portland State. The last two times San Jose State played Nevada, the Spartans executed 54 running plays in 2016 and 55 in The last time San Jose State had more than 55 rushing attempts against a Football Bowl Subdivision opponent was on October 24, 2015 when the Spartans rushed 57 times in a win over New Mexico. Back-to-back years: For the second consecutive season, a San Jose State freshman has two 100-yard rushing games. Tyler Nevens notched his second 100-yard rushing game of the season with 118 yards and a touchdown on 21 carries at Nevada on November 11. He rushed for 112 yards on a season-high 26 carries against Fresno State. In 2016, freshman Zamore Zigler had a pair of 100-yard rushing games. Punting marks on the line: Senior Michael Carrizosa is on his way to completing the most productive career by a San Jose State punter. The 2015 second-team All-America and Ray Guy Award finalist has a career 43.8 yards per punt average, 0.7 better than second-place Spartan Harrison Waid. Carrizosa is 276 yards away from the San Jose State top spot for career punting yardage presently held by Waylon Prather ( ) at 9,747. He is 212 yards from matching Joe Hicks' 1972 season total of 3,105 punting yards at San Jose State. Crawford is a Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Award semifinalist: Junior Bryce Crawford is one of 20 national semifinalists for the 2017 Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicking Award ( Crawford has converted 12-of-14 field goal tries and was the first player this season to kick four field goals of at least 50 yards. Crawford's last field goal attempt was a successful 25-yard kick in the October 28 game at BYU. Three finalists will be named on November 21 and honored on December 4. The winner will be announced on December 7 in Orlando, Fla. Crawford sets San José State career and sets school single-season records: Junior Bryce Crawford is the first San José State kicker to kick four field goals of 50 or more yards in a season and a career with his 52-yard field goal at Hawai'i (10/14). Austin Lopez, the Spartans' primary placekicker during the 2012 through 2015 seasons, kicked three 50 yards field goals in his San José State career. His first three field goals of 50 or more yards in a season were 51 yards at Utah (9/16), career-long 53 yards vs. Utah State (9/23), and 51 yards vs. Fresno State (10/7). Based on available records, Crawford is the first San José State player to attempt field goals of 50 or more yards in five consecutive games. He missed a 52-yard try at UNLV (9/30) and a 51-yarder at Hawai'i. 50-yard field goals at San José State: Junior Bryce Crawford became the tenth San José State kicker to convert a field goal of 50 or more yards when he kicked a 51-yard field goal at Utah on September 16. Crawford's 51-yarder was the first field goal of 50 or more yards by a Spartan since Austin Lopez's 50-yard field goal at Wyoming in As an encore, Crawford kicked a career-best 53-yard field goal, the second longest in school history, at home against Utah State on September 23. A first since 2013: For the first time since the 2013 season, an offensive player other than a quarterback threw a San Jose State touchdown pass in a game. Freshman QB starters at San José State: Montel Aaron became the sixth San José State freshman to start a game at quarterback since freshman eligibility was reinstated in 1972 when he started the September 9 Texas game. Other Spartan freshmen to start at quarterback since 1972 include current sophomore Josh Love in 2016 at Iowa State and Adam Tafralis. Aaron's start at Hawai'i was the 15th time a San José State freshman started a game at quarterback since Doug Allen (1984, one); Greg Centilli (1988, two), Marcus Arroyo (1998, five), Tafralis (2004, three) and Love (2016, one) were the other occasions a freshman started at quarterback for the Spartans. Aaron's current season totals of seven starts, 1,357 passing yards and eight touchdowns are the most by a San José State freshman quarterback. Six with 20: For the third time in the last four seasons, six San Jose State players have 20 or more pass receptions. Tight end Josh Oliver and wide receiver JaQuan Blackwell share the team lead with 31. Tre Hartley (30), Tre Walker (26), Justin Holmes (25) and Bailey Gaither (22) also have at least 20 receptions.

The last time a San Jose State team had at least 10 players catch a pass in a game was at San Diego State in 2016 when 10 players combined to catch 28 passes in a loss. Season-high in total offense and passing yards: The Hawai'i game marked the first time this season San José State had at least 500 yards of total offense with a season best 504 yards. The Spartans also had a season-high 381 passing yards against the Rainbow Warriors. Kickoff return to the house: Rahshead Johnson became the first San José State player in five years to return a kickoff for a touchdown when he raced 96 yards against Hawai'i (10/14). Johnson's previous long was 70 yards against Nevada in Johnson scores three for the Spartans: Rahshead Johnson became the first San José State player this season to score three touchdowns in a game this season. Besides his 96- yard kickoff return in the fourth quarter of the October 14 Hawai'i game, Johnson caught touchdown passes of 15 and 59 yards earlier in the game. Johnson and wide receiver Bailey Gaither are the first two Spartans to score more than one touchdown in a game this season. Gaither scored twice on touchdown receptions in the season-opener vs. USF. 30 pass completions: The San José State-UNLV game marked the first time since the 2015 season opener at home vs. New Hampshire on September 3 that the Spartans had at least 30 pass completions in a game. San José State was 30-of-49 with two interceptions for 315 yards and a touchdown against UNLV. First timers: Heading into the Nevada game, 23 freshmen and 13 others played in their first major college football game for San José State this season. Of the 23 freshmen, nine started at least once for the Spartans. Young Spartans: The current San José State football roster consists of 48 freshmen.
