The 60 meetings are the most for TCU against any opponent. The Frogs have won three straight against SMU, all three under Raegan Pebley. TCU won in Fort Worth last season, 76-67, thanks to 15 3-pointers. The Frogs opened their season with a win over Oral Roberts, a team that won road games against Oklahoma and Arkansas last season. TCU trailed by one point after a quarter, but exploded for 30 points in the second quarter to lead by 14 at halftime, a lead it never gave up. Jordan Moore led the Frogs with 21 points, eight rebounds and seven blocks against the Golden Eagles. The 21 points and seven blocks were both new career-highs. Moore, a junior, moved her career total to 106 blocks, making her just the fourth player in TCU history to surpass the 100-block mark. Sophomore Amber Ramirez added 18 points and seven assists against ORU. The seven assists tied a career-high and the 18 points were one shy of tying a career-high. TCU returns a young, yet experienced roster in. The Frogs eight combined freshmen and sophomores ties for the most in the Big 12, but seven of those are sophomores. The Frogs roster has earned a combined 14 letters in Fort Worth, tied for the third most in the Big 12. The TCU roster features just two seniors, Toree Thompson and Sydney Coleman, tying for the fewest in the Big 12. Amy Okonkwo, a junior, is TCU s leading returning scorer after averaging 10.2 points per game last season. She was the second-leading rebounder at 5.5 board per game, behind Moore who also returns with 6.8 rebounds per game. The Frogs have already had plenty of time to gel as a team, thanks to an August trip to Australia. In addition to the 10 practice permitted before the trip, TCU posted a perfect 4-0 record on the court in Australia, with an average margin of nearly 30 points per GAME 2 Date: Saturday, November 14, 2017 Time: 7:00 p.m. CST Location: Dallas, Texas Venue: Moody Coliseum (7,000) TV: none Talent: n/a Online: SMUMustangs.com Radio: KTCU 88.7 FM Talent: Jeff Williams (PxP) Online: GoFrogs.com (FrogVision) Live Stats: SMUMustangs.com SCHEDULE/ RESULTS OVERALL RECORD: 1-0 Big 12: 0-0 Non-Conference: 1-0 Home: 0-0 Away: 0-0 Neutral: 0-0 NOVEMBER (0-0) Thur. 2 Texas Wesleyan (Exh) --- W Sat. 11 Oral Roberts --- W Tues pm Sat. 18 Texas State pm Tues. 21 Yale FSSW+ 6:30 pm Fri. 24 (1) pm Sat. 25 at CSUN / vs. Idaho (1) / 9:30 pm DECEMBER (0-0) Fri. 1 Alabama (2) FSSW 12 pm Wed. 6 A&M SECN 11 am Sun. 10 Southeastern Louisiana FSSW 2 pm Sun. 17 Northwestern State pm Wed. 20 Hampton --- 6:30 pm Thur. 28 West Virginia* --- 6:30 pm Sun. 31 * ESPN3 2 pm JANUARY (0-0) Thur. 4 * FSOK 7 pm Sun. 7 Texas Tech* FSN 2 pm Wed. 10 Texas* FSSW+ 8 pm Sat. 13 * FSN 4 pm Sat. 20 Kansas* pm Wed. 24 * pm Sat. 27 Oklahoma* FSSW 2 pm Tues. 30 * --- 6:30 pm FEBRUARY (0-0) Sat. 3 * LHN 11 am Wed. 7 Oklahoma State* FSSW 6:30 pm Sat. 10 * FSSW+ 7 pm Wed. 14 Iowa State* FSSW 6:30 pm Sat. 17 Kansas State* FSSW 2 pm Wed. 21 Tech* FSSW 6:30 pm Sat. 24 Baylor* pm Mon. 26 * FSSW+ 7 pm MARCH (0-0) Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship (Oklahoma City, Okla.) 3 TCU WOMEN S BASKETBALL GAME THE MUSTANGS SMU won its season-opener, 68-61, over Nicholls on Friday afternoon at Moody Coliseum. Senior McKenzie Adams led SMU with 38 points against the Colonels, the third most in SMU program history. SMU, a very experienced team, started four seniors in the game against Nicholls and has six seniors on its rosters. One of those, Alicia Froling, averaged a doubledouble (12.4 ppg, 10.6 rpg) last season but did not play on Friday against Nicholls. The Mustangs posted a record last season, the first under head coach Travis Mays. SMU was 7-9 in AAC play, good for a fifth place finish, and advanced to the WNIT Third Round. SERIES In its 41 years of women s basketball, TCU has played no team more than SMU with Tuesday s game marking the 60th meeting in series history. SMU leads the all-time series, 40-19, but since 2001 (last time TCU and SMU were in same conference) TCU holds an 11-4 advantage. The Frogs have won three straight, all under Raegan Pebley. TCU has won four of five since joining the Big 12 with the only loss coming in overtime in This will be the 16 th straight season that the Frogs and Mustangs have met. The last time they didn t play was in There have only been three seasons in TCU program history (started in ) in which the Frogs didn t play SMU, the others being and Last season in Fort Worth, TCU made 15 3-pointers, tying for the most in regulation in program history, and won CONNECTIONS SMU senior center Klara Bradshaw played the first two seasons of her career at TCU ( , ). Current Frogs Sydney Coleman and Toree Thompson were teammates of Bradshaw s. SMU s second-year head coach Travis Mays came to SMU after spending four seasons as associate head coach where he coached against the Horned Frogs nine times. AGE IS JUST A NUMBER For the second straight season, TCU is tied for the most freshmen and sophomores in the Big 12 with eight. However, this season TCU has seven sophomores and a league-low one freshman. ED AND RAE SCHOLLMAIER ARENA Despite the number of underclassmen, the TCU roster has combined to win 14 letters for the Frogs, tied for the third most in the Big 12. Only a pair of top-25 teams in Texas and Oklahoma have more letters than TCU. Here is a look at each Big 12 teams roster breakdown... In its win over Oral Roberts, the Frogs recorded 18 assists on 27 baskets for 66.7 percent. TCU FOR THREE TCU also ranked second in the Big 12 last season with 7.3 made 3-pointers per game, trailing only Iowa State (8.0/g). The Frogs did post a better percentage than the Cyclones with TCU s 35.3 percent mark ranking fourth in the Big 12. TCU made a season-high 15 3-pointers in a win over SMU, tying for the second most in program history, just behind the school-record 17 that TCU made in a fourovertime win over East Carolina in Against SMU, the Frogs hit their first nine 3-pointers, nearly matching an NCAA record. The national record of 11 consecutive made 3-pointers is actually held by the Frogs who did so against Lamar in Previously known as the Daniel-Meyer Coliseum, the facility underwent a $72 million renovation that was completed during the season. The Schollmaier s provided the lead gift of $10 million. The Daniel-Meyer name is still prominent as the entire area is known as the Daniel-Meyer Athletic Complex. The Frogs average 80.0 points per game and only allowed 51.8 per game. Jordan Moore led the Frogs with 13.0 points and 9.0 rebounds per game. Amber Ramirez was second on the team with 11.0 points per game and led TCU with 4.5 assists per game. TCU 79, NITP ALL-STAR 64 - The Frogs played another top-notch opponent in their third game, topping the NITP All-Stars at the Marcellin College Gym in Melbourne. Four players scored in double figures, led by Jordan Moore s 14 points. Freshman Lauren Heard added 11 points off the bench. TCU 88, KNOX RAIDERS 39 - TCU closed its tour with a fourth straight win, this one the most lopsided of the trip, a 49-point win over the Knox Raiders at the State Basketball Centre in Melbourne. Kianna Ray led the Frogs with 14 points, giving them four different leading scorers in four games. As part of the trip, TCU sophomore Ella Hellessey got to return home to Dromana, a Melbourne suburb. The TCU team and staff also spent an afternoon at Ella s family home. They also practiced at the same gym that Ella practiced in throughout her childhood. NO SOPHOMORE SLUMP After a successful freshman season, Jordan Moore improved nearly all of her statistics last season as a sophomore, and will look to do the same as a junior. Here is a look at her year-by-year comparison... Twice last season she tied a career-high with 16 points (Texas A&M, ), before topping the mark with 18 points. 4 BY THE NUMBERS 7 Jordan Moore recorded seven blocks against Oral Roberts, a new career-high, and the most by a Frog since Latricia Lovings had seven against West Virginia in the 2014 Big 12 Championships quarterfinals Scoring FG percentage Rebounding Double-doubles Tuesday marks the 60th meeting between TCU and SMU, the most TCU has played against any opponent. Next on the list are Texas Tech (50), Rice (49) and Houston (43). MOORE BREAKS CENTURY MARK After a career-high seven blocks against Oral Roberts, Jordan Moore moved her career total to 106 blocks, making her just the fourth player in TCU history to surpass the 100-block mark. Moore recorded 41 blocks last season and 58 the year prior as a freshman. The 58 blocks were the eighth most in a single season in TCU history, and the second most by a freshman, behind only Sandora Irvin who finished her career as the NCAA s all-time blocks leader. Rk. Blocks Name Years Sandora Irvin Latricia Lovings Tiffany Evans Jordan Moore Klara Bradshaw Her seven blocks against Oral Roberts were the most by a Frog since Latricia Lovings had seven against West Virginia on March 8, 2014, in a Big 12 Championships quarterfinal. DOUBLE-DOUBLES Jordan Moore s six double-doubles last season were the most by a Frog in TCU s Big 12 era. It was the most since Starr Crawford posted eight in Moore also became the first Frog with a double-double in a Big 12 Championships game when she recorded 12 points and 11 rebounds against Texas Tech. INSIDE PARTNER Moore isn t the only Frog making a difference in the paint. Amy Okonkwo is the Frogs leading returning scorer after averaging 10.2 points per game last season. The 6-foot-2 forward was also second on the team in rebounding, behind only Moore with 5.5 boards per game. Okonkwo ranked 10th in the Big 12 in field goal percentage (49.8) and free throw percentage (78.4), the only player in the top-10 in both. She also shot 34.5 percent (19-of-55) from 3-point range; that after going just 0-of-5 as a freshman at USC in MORE TO COME TCU has seven sophomores on its roster, including Kianna Ray and Amber Ramirez who were both among the Big 12 s best freshmen last season. Here is a look at all the categories in which the two ranked in the Big 12 s top-5... The Classic began in 2006 when the inaugural event was played at Christl Arena in West Point. Jamie s Pittsburgh men s team played in that first Maggie Dixon Classic, and it has since featured all women s games. The event was then played at Madison Square Garden for nine straight seasons (through 2015). However, The Garden was unable to host last year or this year. Last season s Classic was played at St. John s Carnesecca Arena between St. John s and DePaul, where Maggie was an assistant before becoming Army s head coach SIGNING CLASS TCU signed four to NLIs during the NCAA s early signing period.
