Fresh off a setback to No. 22 Oklahoma State Tuesday, the Horned Frogs will look to get back to their winning ways and even the season-series between the two Texas schools at 1-1 after falling in Lubbock last month, The Purple and White bring a 7-14 overall record into Saturday s double-header with the men and 0-10 mark in league play. THE OPPONENT Texas Tech, who is receiving votes in the USA Today Coaches Poll, comes into Saturday s Big 12 contest with a 17-6 overall record and 7-4 mark in conference action after defeating West Virginia in its last outing, In all, the Lady Raiders have gone 3-2 on the road during league play, which includes a setback to Iowa State in their last road contest. Against the Mountaineers, Texas Tech shot 44.4 percent from three-point land en route to a comfortable 13-point victory. Individually, Casey Morris tallied 20 points in leading four Lady Raiders in double-figures. On the season, Chynna Brown has led the way, averaging 12.1 points per contest. During conference play, Brown has increased her scoring power, posting 15.8 point per game, while shooting 48 percent from the field. THE SERIES TCU and Texas Tech will meet for the 40th time in program history Saturday. The Red Raiders lead the all-time series, The two teams hadn t met since the 2008 season prior to last month s game in Lubbock. The 2008 contest saw TCU and Texas Tech meet in the third round of the WNIT. The Frogs won the contest, THE LAST TIME WE MET Junior Latricia Lovings recorded the fourth-most blocks in a single-game in program history in January, but TCU dropped a decision to Texas Tech at United Spirit Arena. In a physical back and fourth game that was a lot closer than the final score indicated, the Horned Frogs cut the Lady Raider lead to seven with 5:14 remaining in the contest, but couldn t complete the comeback despite forcing Texas Tech into 18 turnovers and 33.3 percent from the floor, which is a season-low in conference play. THE LAST GO AROUND IN COWTOWN The Horned Frogs will be playing the Lady Raiders in Fort Worth for the first time since 1999 Saturday. On that night, Texas Tech was ranked No. 7 in the NCAA and held on late to take a decision over TCU. Former Frog great Tricia Payne led all scorers with 19 points, while Amy Sutton tallied 14 on 5-of-14 shooting from the field. PINK GAMES UPCOMING TCU will host Kansas on Wednesday, Feb. 13 at 7:00 p.m. The Horned Frogs will be wearing pink uniforms against the Jayhawks in honor of the WBCA s Pink Zone Day, which is an effort to raise awareness for the fight against breast cancer. TCU will also be a part of Baylor s Pink Zone game on Feb. 16. In addition, the TCU Student-Athlete Advisory Council is hosting a Teddy Bear Drive to benefit Cook Children s Hospital for the Oklahoma State and West Virginia games. VENTRESS STARTING TO HEAT UP In the last two games, sophomore Natalie Ventress has started to catch fire in the scoring column, tallying 16 and 24 points against Texas and Oklahoma State, respectively. The Fort Worth native will look to match her freshman season in which she posted seven games of double-figures, including three games of 20 or more during the month of February. Ventress is shooting over 40 percent from the field in the two games this month, which includes a whopping 67 percent from three-point land. COMING HOME Tuesday s game at Oklahoma State marked TCU s fifth road contest in its last seven games. After playing their third game in seven days Tuesday night, the Frogs will open a two-game homestand against Texas Tech. In all, TCU will play four out of their next five at the DMC. Their lone road game during that stretch is at Baylor. THE THREE AMIGOS In their last home outing against Texas, the trio of Natalie Ventress, Kamy Cole and Zahna Medley scored 38 of TCU s 56 points. They also connected on seven of the Frogs eight three-pointers in the game against the Longhorns. Upon further review, Cole and Medley combined to score 18 of the Purple and White s 23 first half points against UT. Medley closed the opening frame dropping seven of TCU s final nine points in the half. THE DIFFERENCE The Purple and White have gotten to the charity stripe 45 more times in the second half during league play, while limiting its opponent to 25 less shot attempts. RETURN TO SENDER Junior Latricia Lovings had a breakout game against Texas Tech in January, recording a new career-high in blocks with nine. Her nine blocks not only ranked as the fourth-best mark in program history, but it is also tied for the best mark in Big 12 conference play this season with Baylor s Brittney Griner. It currently sits as the second-best block performance in the NCAA this season, trailing only Winthrop s Schaquilla Nunn who

COMING OF AGE After 21 games, Latricia Lovings has blocked more shots then she did during the entire campaign, swatting away 77 shots compared to 68 last season. She has also surpassed her total from a year ago in rebounds. In 30 games a year ago, the junior grabbed a total of 169 rebounds, while this season she has already corralled 208 boards. MEDLEY HONORED BY BIG 12 AGAIN For the third time this season, freshman Zahna Medley was named Phillips 66 Big 12 Women s Basketball Freshman of the Week two weeks ago. Medley, who shared weekly accolades with Oklahoma State s Brittney Martin, averaged 15.5 points and 2.5 rebounds for the week. She scored 10 points at West Virginia and followed that up with a 21-point outing against K-State. MORE ON MEDLEY Zahna Medley has hit the 20-point mark four times this season, which is the most of any freshman in the Big 12. She closed out the first half of the K-State home game by scoring 11 of the Frog s final 21 points, then recorded 10 of the team s final 16 in the contest. Medley is the only rookie in the Big 12 to rank in the top 12 in scoring and assists. NEWCOMERS MAKING HEADWAY During conference action Kamy Cole and Zahna Medley have scored 37 percent of the Frogs scoring. In the last seven games alone, Medley and Cole have accounted for 38.5 percent of the Frogs scoring. In all, the five newcomers have combined to score 60 percent of the Frogs 366 points in the last seven outings. FROM WAY DOWNTOWN The Horned Frogs have continued to shoot the three-ball with consistency all year. In all, the Frogs have hit 10 or more three s in a single-game six times this season, including two games in which TCU connected on 12 triples. The Frogs record in those contests is 3-3. The only losses during that stretch came against Kansas State, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State. CHUCKING IT FROM THE CHEAP SEATS TCU has seemed to make a home from behind the arc during play this season, hitting 156 three pointers. Below is a closer look at the Horned Frogs three-point barrage: TEAM NOTES 439 percent of the shots taken have come from three. 4TCU is attempting 23.2 triples per contest. 436 percent of TCU s baskets made have been by three point per game have come from behind the arc. 4TCU attempted 32 three s against Baylor, which ranks as the fifth most in school history. 4TCU has hit 12 or more three s in a single-game fourstraight years. 4During conference play, 38 percent of the shots taken have come from behind the line. INDIVIDUAL NOTES 464 percent of Zahna Medley s makes this season have come from three-point land. 466 percent of Zahna Medley s attempts this season have come from three. 4Medley tied Emily Carter s program record, which she set against Oral Roberts in 2011, with 16 three-point attempts against Baylor. 454 percent of Kamy Cole s buckets have come from behind the arc. 4In conference action, Medley has scored 23 of her 37 field goals from behind the arc. 4Sophomore Natalie Ventress has scored 21 of her 30 field goals from three during league play. 4Ventress six three s at OSU were the ninth-most in a single-game in school history. A REBOUNDING MACHINE Junior Latricia Lovings posted 13 boards against K-State. The conference leader has quietly become one of the nation s top rebounders as she currently ranks No. 2 in the conference overall in rebounding. Prior to the outing at Texas Tech, she had grabbed 13 rebounds in back-to-back games, while recording double-digit boards in three conference contests. Lovings, who is also No. 1 in the Big 12 in blocked shots overall and No. 4 in the NCAA, is averaging 9.5 boards a game in league play. KEEP HER ON THE COURT Sophomore Natalie Ventress, who had not missed a single free throw during conference action prior to the Texas Tech game, has played in a total of 51 games during her short career, starting 49 contests. The Fort Worth native has started 40-straight contests. The last time Ventress didn t start a game was Dec. 20, 2011 against Tulsa. The next closest Horned Frog to start that many consecutive games is junior Latricia Lovings who has started 28-straight. PASSING THE ROCK Freshman Zahna Medley recorded her first career doubledouble with 11 points and 13 assists against Oklahoma at home. By dishing out 13 assists, Medley set a new school and DMC record for assists in a single-game. Her 13 assists broke Emma Wilson s 12 against SMU on Jan. 25, She fell just three assists short of tying the men s record for assists in a single-game of 16. They were also the most assists in a single-game since former Frog and current professional Helena Sverrisdottir dropped 11 against Texas A&M-CC in TCU Note: Medley recorded the most assists in a singlegame by a freshman in league play this season. 4TCU Note: Her 13 assists is tied for the top-mark among league players in a single-game during conference action. 4TCU Note: Medley s 13 assists ranks as the best performance in the NCAA this season by a freshman. 4TCU Note: Medley, ISU s Nikki Moody and Oklahoma State s Tiffany Bias are the only three players in the conference to have 13 assists in a single-game this season. HELP IS ON THE WAY On the year, the Frogs have made opponents pay off the bench a total of 12 times, while outscoring all opponents off the bench, GETTING THE WIN TCU had never lost five in-a-row under Mittie during a season until this year. In all, the Frogs haven t lost fiveconsecutive games since the season. PACK THE HOUSE Against Baylor, TCU drew a new school-record 7,394 spectators. The 7,394 in attendance marked the largest crowd in DMC history for either a men s or women s game up until the men s game Feb. 6 versus Kansas. The 7,394 broke the previous women s school record of 7,262, which was set against Tennessee in It also marked only the second time in program history the Frogs have had over 7,000 in attendance. The largest men s attendance prior to this year was 7,267 in 2003 against KU. GETTING TO THE BREAK In 21 games, TCU has shown that if it can get to the halftime break with a lead then ultimately the Horned Frogs will come away with a victory, going 6-2 this season when leading at intermission. The only game the Frogs have won when trailing at the break was their victory over UCF earlier this season. 4 29-23 at halftime. The only losses came at the hands of Kansas State and Oklahoma. TCU led at the break 31-26, but ultimately fell, 59-58, in Manhattan. The Frogs turned around and led OU at intermission, 44-39, but lost in the end, The Horned Frogs are an astonishing 16-4 the last two years when leading at intermission. THE BLOCK PARTY CONTINUES Junior Latricia Lovings has become one of the NCAA s elite shot blockers in her short time at TCU. The Fort Worth native now has 166 for her career. The junior, who closed last season ranked No. 25 overall in the NCAA in blocked shots per contest, just moved into No. 2 all-time for a career in TCU history. FOLLOW THE FROGS Fans not able to attend the Texas Tech game can follow the game live via Gametracker and FrogVision. THE FUTURE All five members of TCU s incoming signing class were selected as nominees for the 2013 McDonald s All- American Game. Point guard A.J. Alix, guard/forward Jada Butts, center Klara Bradshaw, forward Janay Keys and center Carol Willie round out TCU s McDonald s All-America nominees. Overall, two of the four nominees are four-star rated recruits and ranked in the prestigious ESPNU 100. Bradshaw, a 6-foot-6 center out of Emory, recently posted a triple-double in district action. Bradshaw scored 22 points, while shooting 9-of-10 from the field. She also pulled down 14 rebounds, blocked 22 shots and had five steals. Her 22 blocks fell just three shy of tying Brittney Griner s state record of 25, which is the most ever in a high school game by a female in the United States. STARTING OUT STRONG When TCU took on No. 24/25 Iowa State earlier this year, it marked the second time in program history that the Horned Frogs had played four-straight opponents either ranked or receiving votes in the national polls at the time of the game. TCU has never opened up conference play against four opponents either ranked or receiving votes in program history. Below is a look at the only two times TCU has played four-straight teams: : Nov. 26-Dec. 6 (No. 7/8 North Carolina; No. 20/19 Oklahoma; No. 25/RV USC; No. 2/2 Duke) : Jan. 2-Jan. 12 (No. 2/2 Baylor; --/RV Kansas State; No. 14/16 Oklahoma; No. 24/25 Iowa State) ON THE ROAD AGAIN Since the season, TCU is away from home overall and in conference games. The tilt with Oklahoma State marked only the fifth time the Frogs have played outside the state of Texas this season. KEEPING OPPONENTS UNDER 60 The Frogs held Central Florida, Houston, UTPA, Corpus Christi, K-State (twice), Texas Tech and West Virginia under 60 points, marking the 40th time in the last three years TCU has held an opponent under 60. The Frogs are a remarkable 32-8 the last three years when an opponent has scored less than 60 points. A REBOUNDING MACHINE Latricia Lovings had a career-rebounding game against Texas A&M-CC. She followed up her first career doubledouble against UTPA with 17 boards versus the Islanders. Lovings has now had 15 or more rebounds in two out of her last three games at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum. Her 17 boards were the most in a single-game since former Frog Starr Crawford grabbed 18 against UNLV in Not to be outdone, freshman Veja Hamilton also posted double-digits boards with 10 against Corpus Christi, which marks the first time since the campaign that the Horned Frogs have had multiple players grab 10 or more boards in a single-game. HOLDING TEAMS DOWN The Frogs held UTPA and Texas A&M-CC to only 37 and 38 points, respectively. In 10 years, the Purple and White have held 18 opponents to less than 40 points in a single-game. TCU is a perfect 18-0 when accomplishing that feat during that stretch. During the last two years alone, the Frogs have not allowed six different opponents to eclipse the 40-point barrier. PLAYING NCAA CHAMPIONS TCU opened its first season in the Big 12 with a home contest against defending national champion Baylor. It marked the second-straight year in which the Horned Frogs faced the defending national champion, having played Texas A&M a year ago. It also marked the second time under head coach Jeff Mittie that TCU has hosted a defending NCAA Champion at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum. The January tilt was only the third time in program history that the Frogs have hosted the defending national champion, having battled Texas at the DMC during the 1987 season. BREAUX IS A GO Against No. 6 Georgia, Donielle Breaux made her presence felt. In only her second game back, the Houston area product scored a career-high 14 points, marking the first time in her collegiate career she has scored in doublefigures. In all, Breaux recorded new career-highs in nine different categories, including points (14), three-pointers made and attempted (2-of-3), and minutes (22). PLAYING TOP 10 OPPONENTS Baylor brought a No. 2 ranking into Daniel-Meyer Coliseum. During the Jeff Mittie era, the Frogs have played 11 top 10 opponents at the DMC. TCU is 3-8 all-time under Mittie against teams ranked in the top 10. Below is a look back at the top 10 opponents who have played in Fort Worth. Top 10 Opponents In The DMC Year Ranking Team Result 1999 No. 7 Texas Tech L, No. 2 Tennessee L, No. 8 Vanderbilt W, No. 5 Tennessee L, No. 10 Georgia L, No. 2 Duke L, No. 3 Maryland W, No. 5 Texas A&M W, No. 7 Texas A&M L, No. 6 Georgia L, No. 2 Baylor L, COLE IS AUTOMATIC Kamy Cole missed her first free throw since TCU s seasonopener against Charlotte at Kansas State. The freshman had made 17-straight free throws prior to the miss. MEDLEY HONORED BY BIG 12 For the second time in three weeks, freshman Zahna Medley was named Phillips 66 Big 12 Freshman of the Week last week. Medley scored 21 points and grabbed a career-high six rebounds from her point guard position in leading TCU to a victory over Sam Houston State. The freshman hit 6-of-11 from the floor against the Bearkats, including 6-of-10 from three-point range. She also had three assists and two steals. THREE POINTER BY ZAHNA MEDLEY Freshman Zahna Medley is also the only rookie in the Big 12 to have two games of six or more three s. HALFWAY HOME When the Frogs shoot 50 percent for a half, it usually has meant good things. TCU is an astonishing 24-3 the last three years when shooting 50 percent during a half of action. The only losses during that stretch came against Wyoming last February and Texas A&M during the and seasons, respectively. VENTRESS KEYS HORNED FROG SUCCESS Natalie Ventress poured in 24 points at Oklahoma State. When the sophomore goes for 18 or more in a singlegame, TCU has only fell eight times in a two-year span. THE SWAT TEAM In TCU s seven victories this season, a common theme has come across the box score. The Frogs have turned away opponents at the rim, out-blocking the opposition in the seven games, TCU currently ranks No. 3 in the Big 12 and No. 21 in the NCAA in blocked shots. Though the TCU Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is a proud and integral part of Texas Christian University, it desires to be recognized simply as TCU (acronym only) Athletics. In all sports-related media references, we respectfully urge that the university s teams be identified with an appropriate appellation TCU. In subsequent references of the same presentation the team may be referred to by nickname - Horned Frogs. A shorter version of the nickname, Frogs, is acceptable in later usage.

Ventress had hit 22-straight from the charity stripe before missing in the second half against Houston. The only game in which TCU didn t connect for over 70 percent was against UTPA (11-of-16) for 68.8 percent. MEDLEY HONORED BY BIG 12 Freshman Zahna Medley was honored earlier this year as the Phillips 66 Big 12 Women s Basketball Freshman of the Week. Medley averaged 17 points and 4.0 rebounds in TCU s wins over SMU and Houston. She hit 9-of-14 field goals, including 9-of-12 from behind the arc for a careerhigh 27 points against SMU. She tied the school record for most three-pointers made in a game and set the TCU freshman mark. The performance also tied for fourthmost in a game in Big 12 history. SHE S ON FIRE Freshman Zahna Medley had a game for the ages, scorching SMU for 27 points. During the game, the freshman hit nine three s on only 12 attempts, which helped rewrite both the TCU and Big 12 record books. The Horned Frogs perfection from the line, which is the best mark in the Big 12 this season, put to bed a record that stood for five years. The Frogs made 18-of-19 (.947) in 2007 and against SMU in In 2007, the Frogs made 14-straight before former Frog Jenna Lohse missed the front end of a one-and-one 10 minutes into the second half. COLE JOINS ELITE COMPANY Freshman Kamy Cole definitely made her presence known in her first game as a Horned Frog, leading TCU in scoring with a game-high 22 points against Charlotte. By doing so, Cole became the first freshman to lead the Frogs in scoring in a season-opener since Ashley Davis scored 14 against Texas State in Upon further review, Cole is the first freshman to score 20 + points in her debut as a Horned Frog since former Frog great Sandora Irvin posted a 22-point outing against Sam Houston State in MEDLEY ON POINT Freshman Zahna Medley became only the eighth freshman in head coach Jeff Mittie s tenure to start a season-opener against Charlotte, joining the likes of teammates Delisa Gross in 2009 and Natalie Ventress last winter. Former Horned Frogs, Starr Crawford (2009), Helena Sverrisdottir (2007), Shayla Moore (2006), Natasha Lacy (2003) and Sandora Irvin (2001) also started for Mittie in their first game in a Horned Frog uniform. 10 TCU 76, SMU 70 GAME4 Fort Worth, Texas (DMC) // Nov. 28, 2012 FORT WORTH, Texas - TCU used a record shooting performance from freshman Zahna Medley and some timely free throws down the stretch to claim a victory over crosstown rival SMU Wednesday night at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum. On a night where Medley was unconscious from deep, the Illinois native time and time again drained triple after triple in the second half to help the Horned Frogs turn a one-point halftime lead into their 16th victory in the all-time series. In the second half alone, Medley, who also grabbed five boards against the Mustangs, took over, scoring 18 points off six triples. In all, the freshman not only tied the school and DMC record for most three s made in a single-game by Amy Sutton Porter in 1999, but also broke the all-time freshman mark of eight set by former Frog great Jill Sutton in 1998 against San Jose State. In a game that featured five ties and 12 lead changes, the Frogs simply outfought the Mustangs on the night through grit and determination on the defensive end of the court, forcing SMU into 17 turnovers. TCU, who saw its three-game winning streak snapped Saturday, continuously chipped away at the Texas A&M lead in the second frame of play. Freshman Zahna Medley led the way for the Horned Frogs Saturday, scoring 14 points, while fellow newcomer Kamy Cole followed with 10. Following a turnover by the Purple and White, Kansas State s Chantay Caron scored two of her nine points down low to ultimately seal the Wildcat victory with five seconds left in the contest.
