REBOUNDING SUCCESS TCU grabbed 50 rebounds against Prairie View A&M in its season opener. The last time the Frogs had grabbed 50 plus rebounds in a game came during its 2007 contest versus Rice when the Purple and White corralled 59 boards. With its 52 rebounds vs. MVSU and 50 vs. Tenn. St. and Kansas, TCU has now grabbed 50 or more boards in four games this season. BOMBING FROM DEEP TCU has connected on at least one 3-pointer in 76-straight games. The squad has dropped at least one trey in 735 of its last 737 contests dating back to a Feb. 11, 1990 game vs. Texas. Prior to the current streak, the Frogs had knocked down a triple in 443 straight games dating back to prior to being held without one during a Nov. 23, 2012 loss to Northwestern. The streak, which ranked No. 3 among Big 12 teams, stretched back to a November 22, 1997 home win over LIU-Brooklyn. A BLOCK PARTY In its season-opener, TCU blocked 10 shots. The last time the Horned Frogs had swatted away 10 shots in a single-game came in 2002 when TCU recorded 10 blocks versus Southern Miss. They have followed that up with a 12-block outing against MVSU, 11 vs. McNeese State and 10 blocks vs. Radford, UTSA and Grambling State. WHAT S BACK TCU returns 84.2 percent of its scoring and 82.8 percent of its rebounding in Six of the top seven scorers are expected to be in the lineup, while the Horned Frogs will also add three players to the lineup that sat out the campaign. A LOOK AT THE FIELD GENERAL Senior guard Kyan Anderson returns as the secondleading scorer overall in the Big 12 behind only West Virginia s Juwan Staten (18.1). Anderson (17.0) is followed by Iowa State s Georges Niang (16.7) and Oklahoma s Buddy Hield (16.5). He ranks ninth on the TCU career scoring list with 1,468 points and has started 106 consecutive games. He has had at least 90 assists every season of his career. Washburn and Zeigler will both be eligible to play this season after sitting out last year due to NCAA transfer rules. Washburn appeared in all 32 games for UTEP in with four starts. He was third on the team in blocked shots, fourth in steals and fifth in rebounding. Zeigler totaled nearly 1,150 career points and 450 rebounds in three college seasons at Pitt and Central Michigan. Zeigler last played for Pitt in , appearing in 31 games. That mark came during the season when the Frogs captured wins over No. 11 UNLV and No. 18 New Mexico. A CLOSER LOOK AT ANDERSON Kyan Anderson was named All-Big 12 Honorable Mention and Associated Press Honorable Mention All-Big 12 during the season. He closed out league play ranking No. 9 in both scoring and assists after averaging 17.3 points per game and 3.78 assists per contest, respectively. The senior also ranked in the top-5 during conference action in free throw percentage (No. 3), 3-point field goal percentage (No. 4) and minutes played (No. 4). In 18 league games a year ago, Anderson scored in double-figures in 16 of the 18 contests, including seven games of 20 or more points. He also dished out five or more assists in five league games. SHEPHERD PUSHING ALL-TIME GREAT Karviar Shepherd has a chance to push for all-league accolades during his sophomore season after posting 13 double-figures games last season. With 274 points

6 and 150 rebounds coming into this season, Shepherd had already totaled more points and rebounds than former Frog and NBA great Kurt Thomas did in his first two years in a Horned Frog uniform. RANKED TEAMS BEWARE TCU has experienced recent success against ranked opponents, especially in games played at home. TCU has won three meetings against ranked teams dating back to The squad also had one loss in overtime to No. 21 San Diego State in the 2012 regularseason finale. A LONE STAR STATE OF MIND TCU will only leave the state of Texas once during non-conference play when it travels to Oxford, Miss., on Dec. 4. In all, TCU will have 13 games in the Lone Star State prior to battling K-State. FROGS VS. THE BIG 12 TCU owns a long history with several current members of the Big 12, having previously played in the Southwest Conference along side Baylor, Texas and Texas Tech. Entering , the squad had faced each school in the league s current format at least four times with the exception of West Virginia, which it had never played. TCU s series histories against Baylor (174 games), Texas (171 games) and Texas Tech (124 games) rank No. 3, No. 4 and No. 7 among the lengthiest in the history of the program. ALL-TIME TCU RECORDS VS. BIG 12 OPPONENTS Team Record Baylor Iowa State 5-6 Kansas 1-8 Kansas State 2-8 Oklahoma 2-14 Oklahoma State 2-21 Texas Texas Tech West Virginia 0-6 TCU S NEW BASKETBALL FACILITY The TCU Board of Trustees approved design of a $59 million renovation to TCU s arena with the project receiving a lead commitment of $10 million from Ed and Rae Schollmaier. The renovation project is currently underway and should be completed in time for the season. The men s and women s basketball programs will receive new locker rooms and team meeting rooms as well as an increased sports medicine center. There will also be new locker rooms for visiting teams. The new building facade for the coliseum will architecturally complement Amon G. Carter Stadium and the TCU campus. The interior will have a lower playing surface to increase courtside seating and provide a more intimate atmosphere. HE HAS SEEN IT ALL TCU Assistant Athletics Director for Sports Medicine Chris Hall is in his 31st season working with the TCU men s basketball program. Hall has worked a total of 1,004 games as the head trainer for men s basketball. In his 30 plus years, the TCU graduate has only missed a total of eight games court side, four of which came last season during a road trip to Washington State and Alaska-Anchorage. THE NBA In total, TCU has had 18 student-athletes go on to NBA careers after leaving Fort Worth, with the most notable being Kurt Thomas, who as of last season was the NBA s oldest active player. Head Coach Trent Johnson has had nine student-athletes go on to NBA careers between his stops at LSU, Stanford and Nevada. In all, Johnson has coached first round draft picks in Brook and Robin Lopez, Kirk Snyder, Jason Collins and Brevin Knight. Brook Lopez was an NBA All-Star last season for the Brooklyn Nets. FAMILY TIES The Frogs have four players with family ties to professional and collegiate basketball in Devonta Abron, Hudson Price, Chris Washburn and Trey Zeigler. Abron has a cousin with an NBA background in former Los Angeles Clipper Willie Warren. Warren, a standout at Oklahoma from , currently plays with Chongqing Fly Dragon of the Chinese National Basketball League. TCU SIGNING CLASS TCU ANNOUNCES SIGNING OF MILLER TCU men s basketball head coach Trent Johnson announced the signing of Jalon Miller. Miller, a Dallas native, will don the Purple and White next season after being ranked a four-star recruit and the 19th best small forward in the nation by ESPN.com. He also currently ranks No. 10 overall among ESPN s 2015 Top Texas Recruits and sits just outside the top-10 among all players in the Midlands region. The 6-foot-8 forward, who is a three-star rated recruit according to Rivals and Scout.com, averaged 22.5 points and 13.6 rebounds a game as a junior at Seagoville High School. This past summer, Miller, who currently sits as the No. 28 rated power forward nationally according to Scout.com, averaged 13.5 points and 7.7 rebounds per game for Texas Select Elite. TRENT JOHNSON ON MILLER Jalon comes from a great family. He was our No. 1 target and has been a priority for our program for over a year, said Johnson. With us losing Trey Zeigler and Amric Fields following this season, Jalon will give us scoring and rebounding from the wing position. He will have a great impact on our program and we are looking forward to being a part of his continued growth as a basketball player. FIELDS EQUALS PRODUCTION When Amric Fields played more than 20 minutes in a game in , he averaged 13.8 points per game and 6.2 rebounds a contest. The senior also shot 44 percent from the field, including nearly 35 percent from behind the arc. In all, he missed a total of 13 games during his redshirt junior season due to various injuries suffered throughout the year. Price s father, Mark Price, played 12 seasons in the NBA for the Cleveland Cavaliers ( ), Washington Bullets ( ), Golden State Warriors ( ) and Orlando Magic ( ) and was a four-time NBA All-Star with the Cavs. Price was one of the top shooters in NBA history. He still owns the league s all-time career record for free-throw shooting percentage (90.4 percent) and is the Cavs franchise leader for career assists (4,206). THE JOURNEYMAN Senior Amric Fields started his career at TCU during the season. During that year, he was one of only three Frogs who played in all 33 games. The Oklahoma City product hasn t played a full slate of games since his sophomore season in ,000-POINT CLUB Kyan Anderson and Trey Zeigler have totaled a 1,000 points in their careers. Anderson currently ranks No. 9 on TCU s all-time list with 1,468 points, while Zeigler has totaled 1,338 between stops at Central Michigan, TCU and Pitt. Fellow senior Amric Fields needs only 88 points this season to hit the mark. TAKING IT TO THE WIRE The Frogs have posted an all-time record of (.418) in overtime games and (.538) in overtime games at home since TCU is a combined 5-0 in games that extend beyond two overtimes in its history. COACHING TREE SUCCESS Head Coach Trent Johnson enters the season with the fifth-longest active coaching tree in the nation with five of his former assistants holding down Division I head coaching posts: David Carter (Nevada), Mark Fox (Georgia), Eric Reveno (Portland), Keith Richard (Louisiana-Monroe) and Nick Robinson (Southern Utah). Washburn s brother, Julian Washburn, played last season overseas, while his father Chris Washburn Sr., was the No. 3 overall selection in the 1986 NBA Draft by the Golden State Warriors. Zeigler s father, Ernie Zeigler, former head coach at Central Michigan and current assistant at the University of Detroit Mercy, coached 17 professional players between stops at Central Michigan, UCLA, Pittsburgh, Bowling Green and Kansas State. STAGGERING NUMBERS Of the 16 players listed on the roster, only three returning players in Kyan Anderson, Brandon Parrish and Christian Gore played in every game a year ago. Nationally, TCU s depletion was like any seen as only Loyola Marymount, Penn, Quinnipiac and UC Santa Barbara had five or more student-athletes miss games entering postseason play. At the end of last season, the Purple and White had only nine scholarship players available and only one player over 6-foo-7.
