By defeating Oklahoma State at home, the Frogs also held their sixth opponent this season to 59 points or less. In the last two season s against league foes, TCU has now held seven conference opponents to under 60 points. The Frogs only loss during the seven games came in a setback at K-State last January. FINDING HIS MARK Sophomore Chauncey Collins tallied 20 points at West Virginia, marking the second-straight game against the Mountaineers that the Oklahoma City native has accomplished that feat. In the two games this season against WVU, Collins is averaging 20 points per game and 3.5 rebounds a contest. A DYNAMIC DUO Against Kansas at home, freshman JD Miller and junior Brandon Parrish combined to score 17 of TCU s 18 points to open the second half. For the game, the duo totaled 26 of the Horned Frogs 56 total points, which equals 46.4 percent. TOUGH AT HOME IN LEAGUE PLAY Dating back to last season, TCU has won five out of its last 11 Big 12 Conference home games, having defeated Texas, Texas Tech, K-State and Oklahoma State twice. The only losses during that stretch came to No. 17 Iowa State in the regular-season home finale a year ago, versus No. 17 West Virginia, No. 7 Kansas, No. 19 Iowa State, K-State and Texas Tech. In the five victories, the Horned Frogs have held all five under 60 points for the game. THE COMEBACK KIDS - ACT TWO Just like it did against Tennessee, TCU erased another halftime deficit to defeat Oklahoma State at home. The Horned Frogs came out of halftime on fire, connecting on nine of their first 10 shot attempts in the period. When it was all said and done, TCU shot a blistering 65.2 percent from the field in the half, including 66.7 percent from behind the arc following intermission. In their last two victories over the Volunteers and Cowboys, the Purple and White have shot over 60 percent from the field in the second half and over 50 percent from three in the period. CLOSE CALLS In all but nine of TCU s 17 losses this season, the Frogs have either led or trailed by only single digits in the final six minutes of the contest. Six out of the nine where TCU hasn t accomplished that feat have come on the road at West Virginia, Oklahoma, Texas, Baylor, Oklahoma State and Washington. THE COMEBACK KIDS TCU erased a 14-point halftime deficit to record a victory over Tennessee, who recently defeated Kentucky and LSU. Against the Vols, the Horned Frogs did it on both ends of the court in the second half, holding Tennessee to only 23.5 percent from the field, including a 0-for-15 showing from deep. On offense, TCU shot 62.5 percent for the half and 50 percent from three. FACING NO. 1 TCU has never faced a No. 1 ranked team twice in a season in program history until this year. In all, the Frogs have only squared off against a No. 1 ranked team a total of six times all-time, including now twice this year with Kansas previously laying claim to the top-spot and Oklahoma. STEALING THE ROCK Sophomore Malique Trent made his return to the TCU lineup against Iowa State and didn t disappoint, recording five steals. With his five steals, Trent posted the most steals in a single-game since former all-conference honoree Kyan Anderson swiped five at Tulsa in He came back and totaled a game-high 15 points and five assists in TCU s home win over Tennessee. WILLIAMS MAKING HIS MARK Michael Williams had started 14-straight games as the Frogs point guard prior to Tennessee. In the four games prior to going to Texas, the junior against No. 19 Iowa State, No. 22 Baylor, No. 1 Kansas and Texas Tech had only four turnovers, while tallying 17 assists. A NICE MARK Following its win over Tennessee, TCU moved to 4-0 all-time against the SEC during Trent Johnson s tenure. The Frogs are also 2-1 in Johnson s four years against the Pac-12. FINDING THE BALL Heading into the Iowa State home game, junior Karviar Shepherd needed only one more rebound to total 500 boards for his threeyear career. The Dallas native, who now has 525 for his career, has awhile before he cracks the program s top-10 though as he trails former Frog Bingo Merriex ( ), who currently ranks No. 10 all-time in program history, by 137 rebounds heading into Tuesday. Shepherd has posted the most rebounds for a career among any players in the last six years. J.R. Cadot recorded 424 boards from 2010 through the 2012 season. COMPARING THE TWO A trend has become apparent in TCU s 28 games this season. In the 11 wins, the Horned Frogs have averaged 19.0 points off turnovers. In the 16 losses, TCU is only averaging 13.4 points off turnovers. In comparison, the Frogs have held the opposition to only 10.7 points in wins versus 18.1 in losses. GRAB THE ROCK TCU is 9-2 this season when out-rebounding its opponent. The Frogs are all-time under Trent Johnson when out-rebounding the opposition. TCU out-rebounded Texas Tech at home, 36-33, but lost for the first time this season when outrebounding the opposition. The Frogs claimed a advantage at Iowa State. COLLINS COMING THROUGH In TCU s 10 road games this season, Chauncey Collins has almost bettered his home production, averaging 13.7 points per game and 2.9 rebounds. Thanks to his 19-point outing versus Texas Tech and 14 points versus Iowa State, Collins is now averaging 11.3 points per contest at home and 3.3 rebounds. When broken down even further, the sophomore has only corralled a total of 21 more rebounds (50) at home compared to his road board total of 29 despite playing five more home contests. HE S BACK Junior Chris Washburn, a team captain, made his return to the TCU starting lineup versus Texas at home. The junior didn t disappoint, scoring the game-winner with 1:12 remaining in the game. He also had the game-clinching block with 3 seconds left, swatting away a would be attempt by Texas Connor Lammert with 3 seconds left that would have given the Longhorns the lead. Washburn finished last season ranked No. 7 in the Big 12 Conference in blocked shots, while ranking No. 8 in steals overall. GUARD PLAY KEY Since starting league play, Chauncey Collins, Brandon Parrish and Malique Trent have combined to score 48 percent of TCU s scoring. When broken down, the trio has combined to score 449 of the Frogs 937 points in the 15 games. 50 OR LESS Prior to the conference opener, TCU held an opponent to 50 points or less for a second-straight contest, holding Delaware State to only 47 points. Prior to their game against DSU, the Horned Frogs held Bradley to only 49 points. TCU has now held three opponent this season to 50 points or less in a game. In the last four years, TCU has now accomplished that feat 14 times under head coach Trent Johnson. OH WHAT A NIGHT Against Delaware State, Karviar Shepherd posted his sixth double-double, scoring 15 points, while grabbing a career-high 19 rebounds. With his 19-board performance, the junior posted the 20th-best rebounding mark in the NCAA this season heading into the last couple of weeks of January. He was one of only six junior s nationally to record 19 or more boards in a game prior to conference play. It is also tied for the second best mark in the Big 12 Conference this season. NEXT MAN UP Against Texas Tech, TCU only dressed nine student-athletes as Devonta Abron and Karviar Shepherd, along with returning starter Kenrich Williams, all sat out the contest. In all, the Horned Frogs have had seven players miss games this season due to injury or other factors in Abron, Shepherd, Chauncey Collins, Dalton Dry, Malique Trent, Chris Washburn and Williams. A DYNAMIC DUO During the month of December, newcomers Malique Trent and Vladimir Brodziansky scored 182 of TCU s 494 points. The duo combined to make 65 of the Frogs 172 field goals during the month. MR. PERFECTION Against Prairie View A&M, Vladimir Brodziansky had quite the outing, going a perfect 7-for-7 from the field en route to a 16-point showing. He followed that up with a 19-point performance against ACU and a 10-point showing at Bradley. The sophomore, who tallied 18 vs. Texas Tech and 12 vs. Iowa State, ranked No. 6 in the Big 12 Conference and No. 67 in the NCAA in field goal percentage entering the midway point of the Big 12. TCU REFERENCE JUST TCU, THANK YOU! Though the TCU Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is a proud and integral part of Texas Christian University, it desires to be recognized simply as TCU (acronym only) Athletics. In all sports-related media references, we respectfully urge that the university s teams be identified with an appropriate appellation TCU. In subsequent references of the same presentation the team may be referred to by nickname - Horned Frogs. A shorter version of the nickname, Frogs, is acceptable in later usage. Previously known as Daniel- Meyer Coliseum, the facility underwent a $72 million renovation. The first basket in a live game was scored by sophomore Vladimir Brodziansky, while Karviar Shepherd dished out the first assist. TCU opened the game, making nine of its first 10 attempts from the field. GETTING THE BALL DOWN LOW TCU has either tied or outscored its opponent down low in all but 13 games. 11 out of those 13 contests the Frogs lost, falling to Rhode Island, Texas, Texas Tech, No. 22 SMU, No. 17 West Virginia, No. 1/No 7 Kansas (twice), No. 1 Oklahoma, No. 22 Baylor, No. 10 West Virginia and No. 13 Iowa State. The sophomore has scored in double-figures in 14 out of the 28 contests, while recording one double-double. He scored a season-high in league-play with an 18-point outing against Texas Tech at home on 5-of-9 from the field. He also shot over 60 percent from the field in those games. IN THE FINAL 5 MINUTES In TCU s 28 games this season, several individuals have stepped up in the last five minutes of a ballgame. Brandon Parrish is 10-for-20 from the field during that stretch, while senior Devonta Abron is shooting 80 percent (8-of- 10) from the floor. Newcomer Vladimir Brodziansky has also been rock solid, going 16-of-26 from the field, which is 62 percent. CASHING IN ON OPPORTUNITIES TCU shot a blistering 50.8 percent from the field against Colgate. Against Illinois State, the Frogs went 27-of-53 (.509) from the floor. TCU has now shot 50 percent or better eight times in the last two years. SECOND CHANCE POINTS In the first five outings prior to SMU, TCU had combined to outscore its opponent in second-chance points, Against Mustangs, the Purple and White didn t hold an advantage over their opponent in second-chance points for now only the 11th time this year. A HISTORIC MARK When TCU took on Colgate it marked the program s 2,500th game in school history. KEEPING THE STREAK ALIVE Heading into its game versus South Dakota State, TCU had won 20-straight non-conference games dating back to The last time the Horned Frogs lost a non-conference tilt prior to falling to SDSU was against Harvard on Nov. 30, 2012 in the Great Alaska Shootout. PARRISH HAS PERFECT NIGHT Junior Brandon Parrish scored a team-high 13 points against Rhode Island, going a perfect 4-for-4 from the field, including 3-of-3 from long distance. With his 3-for-3 showing from beyond the arc, Parrish has now accomplished that feat three times in his carer, having previously done so at Ole Miss a year ago and versus Baylor his freshman season at the Big 12 Championship. The Arlington native has also now connected on three or more three-pointers in a game 13 times in his career, having scorched Texas for five three s, KU for three and Texas Tech for four. MAKING RUNS Against Houston Baptist and South Dakota State, TCU had two impressive runs. The Frogs went on a 32-4 run against the Huskies. During the stretch, TCU limited HBU to a 1-for-12 showing from the floor. The Purple and White came back versus South Dakota State and went on a 17-1 run in the second half to pull within six. TCU once again did it with defense, holding SDSU to a 0-for-8 showing during the stretch with nine turnovers. HITTING 90 TCU eclipsed the 90-point mark in the first two games this season, having scored 90 against Southeastern Louisiana and Houston Baptist. That feat hadn t been accomplished since 2010 when the Frogs recorded backto-back games of 96 and 99 versus Northwestern State and Chicago State. TCU has now posted four games of 90 or more points since COLLINS CASHING IN Prior to South Dakota State, sophomore Chauncey Collins hadn t missed from the free throw line this season, going a perfect 17-of-17 from the charity stripe. Going into the SDSU contest, Collins hadn t missed since the 5:32 mark of the second half at Oklahoma State last March. BRODZIANSKY HONORED BY BIG 12 CONFERENCE Sophomore Vladimir Brodziansky was honored in November as the Phillips 66 Big 12 Newcomer of the Week. He was recently named an Academic All-Big 12 selection for a second-straight season and has participated in numerous volunteer activities during his time in Fort Worth. A BLOCK PARTY Freshman JD Miller recorded five blocks against Southeastern Louisiana. With his five blocks, Miller was one of only five freshmen in the country to have five blocks in their season-opener. He joined the likes of Obediah Church of Missouri St., Deyonta Davis of Michigan St., Chimezie Metu of Southern California and Horace Spencer of Auburn to post five or more blocks in game one of the young season. NO SOUP FOR YOU For a second-straight season, TCU posted 10 blocks in its season-opener, having done so a year ago against Prairie View A&M. The Frogs have now posted 10 or more blocks in a game seven times in the last two years. Prior to , the last time the Horned Frogs had swatted away 10 shots in a single-game came in 2002 when TCU recorded 10 blocks versus Southern Miss. The Frogs finished last season 14th in the NCAA in blocked shots per game, averaging 5.3 per game. MAKING A STATEMENTŇ Vladimir Brodziansky is the first junior college transfer to lead TCU in scoring in a season-opener since 2008 when then transfer Edvinas Ruzgas scored a team-high 16 points against Western Michigan. ELITE COMPANY By scoring a double-double in the Horned Frogs seasonopener with 19 points and 10 boards, Vladimir Brodziansky became only the sixth TCU player since 2000 to post a double-double in the first game of the year. He also became the first newcomer during that stretch to record a double-double in a season-opener. ELITE COMPANY Year Player Stat Line 2015 Vladimir Brodziansky 19 points, 10 rebounds 2014 Karviar Shepherd 13 points, 10 rebounds 2009 Zvonko Buljan 22 points, 16 rebounds 2004 Chudi Chinweze 12 points, 10 rebounds 2001 Marlon Dumont 21 points, 13 rebounds 2000 Derrick Davenport 15 points, 10 rebounds WHAT RETURNS Heading into this season, Brandon Parrish, Karviar Shepherd and Chris Washburn had combined for 141 starts as Horned Frogs. NONCONFERENCE SUCCESS Last season, TCU went undefeated in nonconference play for the first time in school history, posting a 13-0 record. In , TCU posted a 9-3 mark in nonconference play, matching its nonconference win total from NONCONFERENCE HISTORY 101 Last season, TCU moved to 13-0 on the season with its victory over Tennessee State to close out the nonconference. In the Big 12 Conference, the Frogs tied

6 Oklahoma State for the 10th best start in league history. The Cowboys opened the season with a 13-0 record before falling. JOINING THE ELITE Heading into conference play in , the Horned Frogs were one of only six teams in the NCAA undefeated on the year, joining Kentucky, Duke, Virginia, Villanova and Colorado State. DOING IT WITH DEFENSE & REBOUNDS TCU finished last season ranked No. 14 overall in blocked shots per game nationally, totaling 5.3 a contest. They were also No. 20 nationally in total blocks with 176 on the season. That mark ranked No. 2 all-time in program history. In conference play, TCU posted 81 blocks, which is the best mark ever in school history. The Frogs also finished No. 14 in the NCAA in offensive rebounds per game, averaging a game. TCU grabbed 50 or more boards in four games a year ago. A TRIPLE DOUBLE Of returning players, Karviar Shepherd, Chris Washburn and Kenrich Williams accounted for 70.5 percent of TCU s rebounding during Big 12 Conference play in WELCOME ONE AND ALL TCU has a total of five student-athletes on its roster who have transferred from other universities. The five transfers include: Devonta Abron (Arkansas), Vladimir Brodziansky (Pratt CC), Malique Trent (New Mexico JC), Chris Washburn (UTEP) and Kenrich Williams (New Mexico JC). KENRICH WILLIAMS NOT AVAILABLE Prior to the start of preseason camp, TCU found out that returning starter Kenrich Williams won t be available for the season due to injury. The forward wrapped up league play a year ago ranking No. 7 overall in rebounding after averaging 6.8 rebounds a contest and No. 3 in offensive rebounds with 2.78 offensive boards a game. The junior tallied a double-double in three games in and had eight double-digit outings against league foes. With Williams out, TCU must replace 63.4 percent of its total points scored and 48.3 percent of its total rebounds from a year ago. A CLOSER LOOK Juniors Karviar Shepherd and Chris Washburn were named TCU s captains prior to the start of preseason camp. Washburn, who scored in double-figures in eight games last season, closed ranking No. 12 overall in the Big 12 Conference in rebounding and No. 7 in blocked shots. In league games, Washburn ranked No. 7 in steals. Shepherd finished 14th overall in the Big 12 Conference in rebounding, averaging 5.7 boards a contest. He was also No. 15 in offensive rebounds and No. 14 in defensive rebounds, while ranking in the top-20 in league games in rebounds with 5.2 per contest. RANKINGS DEBUT In , TCU moved into the top-25 poll for the first time since The Frogs were ranked No. 25 last December, marking the first time under head coach Trent Johnson the program had accomplished that feat. Broken down even further and one can see TCU s progress coming to the forefront heading into year four of the Trent Johnson era. The Purple and White were receiving votes in both polls last season, beginning in week four [Dec. 1] through week 10 (Jan. 12). As of Feb. 2, TCU was still receiving votes in the USA Today Coaches Poll, which marked the first time in over 15 years that the Horned Frogs had been receiving votes that late into the season. MOMENTUM BUILDING Prior to the start of the campaign, ESPN ranked the Horned Frogs at No. 71 in its power rankings of all 351 NCAA Division I teams. Consider this, when head coach Trent Johnson took over the program in 2012, the Frogs were ranked as low as No. 156 amongst all NCAA teams. SHEPHERD PUSHING ALL-TIME GREAT Karviar Shepherd finished 14th overall in the Big 12 Conference in rebounding a year ago, averaging 5.7 boards a contest. With 476 points and 391 rebounds coming into this season, Shepherd had already totaled more points and rebounds than former Frog and NBA great Kurt Thomas did in his first two years in a Horned Frog uniform. The squad also had one loss in overtime to No. 21 San Diego State in the 2012 regular-season finale. TAKING DOWN RANKED SQUADS TCU has defeated a pair of top-20 foes in the same season only once during program history. That mark came during the season when the Frogs captured wins over No. 11 UNLV and No. 18 New Mexico. TAKING IT TO THE WIRE The Frogs have posted an all-time record of (.418) in overtime games and (.538) in overtime games at home since TCU is a combined 5-0 in games that extend beyond two overtimes in its history. HOME SWEET HOME TCU is all-time in home games. The Horned Frogs went 13-6 in home games a year ago. On campus, the Frogs went (.620) inside Daniel-Meyer Coliseum and (.594) inside the TCU Field House from BOMBING FROM DEEP TCU had connected on at least one 3-pointer in 79 straight games prior to not making one at Oklahoma State a year ago. The squad has now dropped at least one trey in 774 of its last 777 contests dating back to a Feb. 11, 1990 game vs. Texas. TCU has now had 31 straight games with a three-pointer. FROGS VS. THE BIG 12 TCU owns a long history with several current members of the Big 12, having previously played in the Southwest Conference along side Baylor, Texas and Texas Tech. Entering , the squad had faced each school in the league s current format at least four times with the exception of West Virginia, which it had never played. TCU s series histories against Baylor (178 games), Texas (170 games) and Texas Tech (127 games) rank No. 3, No. 4 and No. 7, respectively, among the lengthiest in the history of the program. ALL-TIME TCU RECORDS VS. BIG 12 OPPONENTS Team Record Baylor Iowa State 5-9 Kansas 1-12 Kansas State 4-9 Oklahoma 2-17 Oklahoma State 4-23 Texas Texas Tech West Virginia 0-8 EXTRA SESSIONS TCU played two overtime games last season, going into extra sessions at No. 17 West Virginia and versus No. 21 Baylor. Prior to , the Frogs hadn t played an overtime game since a setback to San Diego State on March 3, TCU s last four overtime games have been against teams ranked in the top 25. THE NBA In total, TCU has had 18 student-athletes go on to NBA careers after leaving Fort Worth, with the most notable being Kurt Thomas, who as of last season was the NBA s oldest active player. Head Coach Trent Johnson has had 15 student-athletes go on to NBA careers between his stops at LSU, Stanford and Nevada. In all, Johnson has coached first round draft picks in Brook and Robin Lopez, Kirk Snyder, Jason Collins and Brevin Knight. Brook Lopez was an NBA All-Star two season s ago for the Brooklyn Nets. 20 POINT GAMES Under head coach Trent Johnson, the Frogs have had a player go for 20 or more points in 30 different outings. Only three players on the roster have scored 20 or more points in a single-game in Chauncey Collins, Malique Trent and Brandon Parrish. Collins, Trent and Parrish are joined by former Frogs Kyan Anderson Trey Zeigler, Amric Fields, Charles Hill Jr. and Garlon Green as the only TCU student-athletes to score 20 or more points under Johnson s watch. FAMILY TIES The Frogs have two players with family ties to professional basketball in Devonta Abron and Chris Washburn. Abron has a cousin with an NBA background in former Los Angeles Clipper Willie Warren. 8 ED & RAE SCHOLLMAIER ARENA THE NEW BASKETBALL ARENA In July, the TCU Board of Trustees approved the naming of the Horned Frogs new basketball facility as the Ed and Rae Schollmaier Arena. Previously known as the Daniel-Meyer Coliseum, the facility underwent a $72 million renovation. The Schollmaiers provided the lead gift. The Daniel-Meyer name will remain prominent as the entire area will be known as the Daniel-Meyer Athletic Complex. The men s and women s basketball programs received new locker rooms and team meeting rooms as well as an increased sports medicine center. There will also be new locker rooms for visiting teams. The new building facade for the arena architecturally complements Amon G. Carter Stadium and the TCU campus. The interior has a lower playing surface to increase courtside seating and provide a more intimate atmosphere. Wider concourses and multiple public entries will ease congestion. The fan experience is further enhanced by new concession stands and restrooms as well as increased points of sale. A new courtside club lounge was constructed on floor level. Additional features are a TCU Athletics Hall of Fame display on the concourse level, offices for Olympic sports and administration and a larger main ticket office to support both the new arena and Amon G. Carter Stadium. TCU S BIG 12/NCAA STATS RANKINGS Category: TCU Big 12 NCAA Conf.
