Tip is scheduled for 9 p.m. ET / 8 p.m. CT from the Kohl Center. THE MAIN TALKING POINTS 1) Purdue is looking for its first road win of the season, with the four road losses to No. 15 Florida State, No. 3 Michigan, Texas and No. 6 Michigan State. 2) Purdue has played the fourth-most difficult schedule in America, according to KenPom. Wisconsin will be the eighth top-40 foe of the season. 3) Purdue is looking to start 3-2 in Big Ten play for the ninth straight year. Coincidentally, the last time Purdue started 2-3 in the Big Ten came during the season, in which Purdue finished 29-6 and won a Big Ten regular-season championship. 4) Purdue and Marquette have both won four games in the Kohl Center since (the Matt Painter era), the most for a visiting team. 5) Purdue continues to excel on the offensive end, ranking seventh nationally in offensive efficiency. Purdue, Duke and North Carolina are the only three teams to rank in the top 10 in offensive efficiency in and Purdue finished last year second behind Villanova. 6) Under Matt Painter, Purdue has been one of the best offensive teams in America. Since the season, Purdue has four wins in the facility, the most of any visiting team. Painter owns a 4-6 record at the Kohl Center, owning wins over a pair of ranked Badger squads (2008, 2013). Despite the success in the Kohl Center, Purdue has scored more than 70 points just once during the Painter era (72; Feb. 9, 2008). 3 BOILERS TAKING CARE OF THE BALL Purdue has taken care of the ball this year, averaging just 11.1 turnovers per game, which would rank as the sixth-lowest average in school history. However, over the last six games, Purdue is averaging just 8.3 turnovers per game, while boasting an assist/turnover ratio of Purdue is 32nd nationally in turnover percentage (16.3 percent) and 26th nationally in turnovers per game (11.1). SHOOTING WINS Purdue is under Painter when over 48.0 percent shooting, including 4-1 this season. The lone loss came to Virginia Tech (50.8 percent). The last five games have shown that Purdue s bench can become a big weapon. 7 HEAD COACH MATT PAINTER Record at Purdue: (.662) / 14th year Career Record: (.673) / 15th year With four Sweet 16 appearances, 10 NCAA Tournament berths, two Big Ten regular-season championships, a Big Ten Tournament title and an international gold medal on his résumé, 14th-year head coach Matt Painter is widely regarded as one of the brightest young minds in all of college basketball. Painter affirmed his long-term commitment to Purdue in October of 2018, agreeing to a two-year extension that will keep him in West Lafayette through at least the season. The deal features five, one-year extensions that go into effect through the season. Following the 2029 season, Painter will still only be 58 years old. Painter entered the season third on the school s all-time wins list (295) behind legendary mentors, Gene Keady and Ward Piggy Lambert, both of whom have been inducted into the College Basketball Hall of Fame.
